As the 2026 California high school season came to a close, plenty of standout performances filled scorecards across the state. Throughout the spring, there was no shortage of memorable individual outings in games captured firsthand by our Prep Baseball California staff during the season.

Over the course of two weeks, this series will count down my top 10 single-game standout performances seen across the greater San Diego area during the 2026 spring season, highlighting some of the top individual efforts from around the region.

Starting the countdown at No. 10 is Mission Hills sophomore Daxton Hyde, who turned in one of the better individual offensive performances seen this spring in a league matchup against Torrey Pines High School. Although it came in a losing effort, Hyde still left his mark with a pair of towering no-doubt home runs, both coming on 3-0 counts. The first cleared the roadway beyond the left field fence near a house positioned on a hill, while the second landed just short of the scoreboard in left-center field.

Hyde also got the start on the mound and struck out six over four innings. After a shaky opening frame, the sophomore settled in well and finished with three straight scoreless innings while running the fastball up to 88 mph and mixing in a full four-pitch arsenal. Had the outing ended differently on the scoreboard, this performance likely could have climbed even higher on the list.

The outing served as another example of the strong sophomore season Hyde put together for Mission Hills. The 2028 two-way talent finished the spring hitting .320 with five home runs, 22 RBIs, and a .989 OPS, while also striking out 63 hitters across 45 innings on the mound.
