Matthew Sowers RHP / SS / Chesapeake High, MD / 2027Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 1
The top-ranked uncommitted arm in the class sees a jump inside the top 10 for the first time, all the way up to No. 4 in this update. Possessing a long, yet strong 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame, Sowers was one of the more explosive arms that our staff saw this spring, and following a standout performance at last year's future games has really put his name on the map as a legit next-level arm in the state. The velo jump sparked interest immediately, consistently running the heater into the low 90s with the ability to locate to both sides of the plate. The slider was the difference-maker, and should be for years to come, and when the spin is on, it allows the fastball to play even higher than the low 90s fastball seems. Still room to grow, look for Sowers to be a big winner across the summer circuit. |

Kohen Madden SS / RHP / Allegany High, MD / 2027Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 6
One of the more physically-gifted players across the state, Madden has the look and feel of a football star, however, the skillset on the diamond is unquestioned and impressed our staff in each look. Quick and fluid hands at the dish allow whip in the barrel with some of the better gap-to-gap strength that this state has to offer, as the offensive profile screams middle-of-the-order run producer. The baseball IQ and instincs go unquestioned as well, as the leadership and "lead by example" mentality is at the forefront of Madden's success. The hands and arm strength should keep Madden on the left side of the diamond at the next level, and as the athleticism turns up a bit, look for this to be a hot commodity come summer time. |

Jacob Cadden SS / 2B / Huntingtown High School, MD / 2027Rankings StateRank: 28 / POS: 7
This spring saw a plethora of players make huge strides, but none were as eye-opening as Jacob Cadden. The smooth-fielding shortstop impressed each and every time our staff got eyes on him this spring, as the hit tool has turned itself into one of the top that this class has to offer. Middle tendencies with a consistent ability to spray line drives, Cadden has added strength to the body that has propelled power numbers. This is undoubtedly a middle-of-the-order type run-producing bat with versatility that can enter a college program and make an immediate impact. |
