Damien handled its work in the ILH Division II championship series, sweeping Maryknoll in two games at Central Oahu to capture the 2026 league title. The Monarchs took Game 1 by a 7-2 final, then finished the series with a 12-0 mercy-rule win in five innings in Game 2.

Offensively, Damien was led by Kekona Begonia, who paced the team in hits and runs scored. He gave the Monarchs steady production near the top of the order and helped set the table throughout the year. Tryten Vicari led the team in RBI, giving Damien a consistent run-producing bat in the lineup. Tanaloa Seguancia added gap power as the team leader in doubles, while Vince Detrinis provided a strong look in his chances, hitting .571.

On the mound, Mason Johnasen led the staff in innings pitched and gave Damien needed length throughout the season. Max DeTrinis led the team in wins and strikeouts, giving the Monarchs a reliable arm at the front of the staff. Damien’s pitching was strong in the title-clinching game, holding Maryknoll scoreless across five innings.

Damien now moves on to the HHSAA Division II State Tournament, where the Monarchs open against MIL D2 champion Seabury Hall on May 7th.
