Region 1

#1 Chiles vs. #8 Ponte Vedra Chiles comes in as the top seed in the region and has been one of the steadiest programs in North Florida all season. Ponte Vedra is a capable opponent but walks into a tough environment against a program operating at a different level. Chiles handles this one comfortably and advances.

#4 Gulf Breeze vs. #5 Lincoln One of the better first-round matchups on this side of the bracket. Lincoln has been quietly dangerous all year and pulls off the mild upset here. The Trojans advance and set up a date with Chiles.

Regional Semifinal Pick: Chiles over Lincoln Lincoln's upset run comes to an end against the top seed. Chiles has too much across the board, pitching depth, lineup balance, and postseason experience, and the Timberwolves move on to the regional final.

#2 Niceville vs. #7 Beachside Niceville has been one of the more complete teams in the Panhandle all season and handles Beachside without much trouble. The Eagles advance.

#3 Mosley vs. #6 Columbia Mosley gets the edge here. They've been the more consistent team against quality competition, and their pitching staff is built for the playoffs. Mosley advances.

Regional Semifinal Pick: Niceville over Mosley A quality North Florida matchup between two programs with legitimate postseason résumés. Niceville's overall depth and consistency give them the edge, and the Eagles advance to the regional final.

Regional Final: Chiles over Niceville This is the game of the left side of the bracket — two of the best programs in North Florida meeting with a trip to the state semifinal on the line. Niceville has the talent to make this competitive, and they will. But Chiles' body of work and the way they've competed against the toughest opponents on their schedule gives them just enough of an edge. The Timberwolves punch their ticket to the state semifinal.

#1 Winter Springs vs. #8 Seabreeze Winter Springs is the top seed on this side and has been one of the most complete teams in Central Florida all season. Seabreeze doesn't have the firepower to keep pace. Winter Springs wins.

#4 Cypress Creek vs. #5 Deltona Cypress Creek gets the edge here based on their overall consistency and how they've competed down the stretch. Cypress Creek advances.

Regional Semifinal Pick: Winter Springs over Cypress Creek Winter Springs is operating at a level above everyone else on this side of the bracket. They handle Cypress Creek and set their sights on the regional final.

#2 Wesley Chapel vs. #7 Innovation Wesley Chapel has the deeper résumé and handles Innovation. The Wildcats advance.

#3 Sebring vs. #6 River Ridge Sebring gets the edge here. They've been the more battle-tested team and their lineup depth gives them a clear advantage. Sebring advances.

The Tarpons' run through the bracket has been impressive, but Mater Academy's talent and depth give them the edge when the lights are brightest. The Lions advance to the state championship.

The Bears have handled quality competition all season. They have the pitching to win a tight game, and they have the lineup to take over when games are on the line. This is a program that has been building toward this moment, and we don't see anyone stopping them on the state championship stage.
