2026 WA Scout Blog - Mount Si vs. Hazen
April 10, 2026
The 2026 Washington Scout Blog provides information and scouting notes from Prep Baseball staff during the WIAA season. The running blog will feature information on underclass prospects, unsigned seniors, draft prospects and other notable performers. The Scout Blog is compiled of content and information gathered only from Prep Baseball staff. All featured games in the Scout Blog were attended by staff.
This Wednesday, Prep Baseball was in attendance for an intriguing KingCo matchup as Hazen visited Mount Si. Both sides feature talent despite mixed results to this point in the season. The Mount Si bats caught fire in this one, with the Wildcats winning via run-rule by a final score of 11-1. Below are scouting notes on standout performers from Wednesday's game.
Mount Si vs. Hazen (4.8.26)
Mount Si
'26 INF/RHP Jimmy Pratapas (Nevada Commit)
Though he's better known for his prowess on the mound as a low 90's arm, Pratapas showcased his versatility on Wednesday, collecting hits in all four of his plate appearances. The sturdy-strong 6'0 righty set in a wider stance at the plate, with a strong turn and natural strength through contact driving line drives to all fields. Pratapas scored 4 runs as well as a part of Mount Si's offensive barrage. The senior was great on the mound at last summer's Senior Future Games in Georgia and could be an early contributor at the D-1 level.

'27 OF Austin Catini (Uncommitted)
Catini had a breakout showcase at the Seattle Summer Review last August, and he continued a series of strong looks with a productive game on Wednesday. The medium-framed junior moved well in the outfield with great closing speed, and carries enough quickness for all three outfield spots. He also went 2-2 with 2 singles and a walk, driving in a run as well. Catini carries a heavier barrel through the zone with a controlled, longer path and gap power present.
'26 OF Alex Ott (Uncommitted)
Another outfielder that had a huge day offensively, Ott had the biggest knock of the game for the Wildcats early on. The lefty caught all of a pitch middle in, lacing it over the CF's head. The speed was then on display as Ott raced around the bases for a three-run, inside the park home run. He continued to perform in later AB's as well, reaching via a single and walk later on in the game. A corner OF type, Ott figures to be a regular in the middle of the order for Mount Si for the rest of the season.

'26 OF Chase Mentink (Uncommitted)
The senior was one of several Wildcats that reached base in every one of his plate appearances. A multi-sport athlete with a speed-oriented, old-school style of play, Mentink wreaked havoc on the bases with a pair of stolen bases and an aggressive mindset at all times. The senior singled twice, walked, and was hit by a pitch, totalling four runs scored as well. Mentink plays with a noticable confidence and ease that translated to CF as well, where he made a couple of rangy catches. Well-rounded look.
'27 INF Jacob Flores (Uncommitted)
A twitchy, middle infield-type, Flores impressed with a smooth, whippy lefty stroke at the dish. The junior delivered the knockout blow for Mount Si with a big three-run triple, ending the game via a run-rule walk-off. Flores works through a steady toe-tap load as the hands stay stacked, creating some loft through the zone with a longer bat path. The junior reached via a walk in addition to his triple in this one. Defensively, Flores showed well with soft hands and a strong arm across the dirt from SS. Name to know in the class.

Hazen
'29 INF Bradley Tat (Uncommitted)
One of the youngest players on the field looked comfortable and composed in this look, and is off to a nice start to his varsity tenure on the whole. Tat collected one of three hits for the Highlanders with a line drive single to LCF. The swing stays compact with some length through the zone, finishing with a quick, shorter two-handed finish. The defense will continue to develop, particularly with catching up to the speed of the varsity game, but shows promise with sound hands up the middle.

'29 RHP Andrew Lynch (Uncommitted)
Lynch was another intriguing freshman, toeing the rubber for Hazen on Wednesday. Lynch pitched far better than the final line would indicate, with some defensive miscues and tough breaks behind him resulting in some mixed final numbers. However, the operation and current arsenal were cause for some intrigue moving forward. The medium frame moved through a steady-paced wind with a repeatable operation. The fastball sat 80-83 MPH, with a high-70's sinker thrown in the zone as well. The CB was used more as a get-over pitch early in the counts, with a CH flashed occasionally as well. Young player to monitor moving forward.

'26 INF/RHP Noah Coury (Uncommitted)
A tall, lean senior with limited run to this point, Coury got the offense going early for Hazen with an RBI single shot back up the middle in the first inning. The uncommitted prospect moves with control and precision and a flatter path from the right side of the plate. Coury made the routine play at 1B before coming in to pitch in relief, throwing a low 80's fastball with mixed results as well.
