ALABAMA - With the 2026 high school season officially underway, it’s time to recognize the standout performances that helped set the tone across Alabama in Week 4 of the season.
Each week this spring, we will name an Alabama Player of the Week and Alabama Pitcher of the Week, honoring the top individual performances from around the state. These awards are based entirely on nominations submitted by high school coaches, highlighting the athletes who delivered when it mattered most during game action.
From dominant outings on the mound to explosive performances at the plate, Week 4 brought no shortage of impact performances. Now, it’s time to spotlight the next honorees of the 2026 season.
AL Player of the Week: Week 4

Hunter Elmore 1B / American Christian, AL / 2028Hunter Elmore turned in one of the most complete offensive performances of the season to earn Alabama Player of the Week honors. The No. 2-ranked player in Alabama’s 2028 class went 10-for-14 (.714) at the plate, recording seven extra-base hits, including two home runs, while driving in nine runs and scoring eight times. He also demonstrated advanced strike-zone awareness, drawing nine walks without a strikeout over the course of the week. Elmore’s ability to combine consistent contact, impact power, and disciplined at-bats underscores his status as one of the premier underclass hitters in the state. |
AL Pitcher of the Week: Week 4

Eli Cantrell RHP / 3B / Madison County, AL / 2027Eli Cantrell delivered two highly effective outings to earn Alabama Pitcher of the Week honors. The 2027 right-hander went 2-0 across 11 innings, allowing just three hits and no earned runs while striking out 21 and issuing only two walks. Cantrell consistently operated in the strike zone and demonstrated the ability to generate swings and misses at a high rate, limiting opposing offenses throughout the week. His performance reflects both efficiency and command, further establishing him as a reliable presence on the mound for Madison County. |
