2026 Team Kansas Future Games Preview

From Wednesday, July 22nd, through Saturday, July 25th, the Prep Baseball Future Games will take place at the state-of-the-art LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, GA. Since the event’s inception in 2011, the Prep Baseball Future Games has evolved into the biggest college scouting event in the country, with more than 400 college coaches in attendance each of the last two years. The bedrock of the event, the 16U division returns, and we will again feature a 14U Junior Future Games division in addition to the third year of the 17U Senior Future Games.

Per usual, the Sunflower State will be proudly represented at the nation's top uncommitted event, with a multitude of the state's top talents making the trip down to LakePoint this upcoming week. Below you will learn more about the players that make up Team Kansas for the 2026 Future Games.

Marshall Awtry OF / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2028Boasting an advanced toolset in a 6-foot, 163-pound frame, Awtry is one of the top overall athletes in the state's class, ranked No. 15 overall. Advanced, 6.55 runner that can impact the game in a number of ways on both sides of the ball, allowing for the ability to cover ground with ease in the outfield or pick it on the dirt if needed. Features a quick, level right-handed swing that shows a mature approach, strong feel for the barrel and power that continues to take jumps. A dynamic all-around athlete that will be a four-day follow for coaches throughout the week. |

Brock Bailey RHP / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2028Strongly built 6-foot-2, 205-pound build with noticeable strength throughout the lower half. Burst onto the scene as a freshman for one of the top 5A schools in the state and has shown advanced pitchability for his age since. Consistently mixes five pitches for strikes to keep hitters off balance and off the barrel. Features a heavy fastball up to 86 mph, having been as high as 88 mph in other looks, pairing the heater with a sinker and cutter. Shows high-end feel for both a curveball and changeup in the low-to-mid-70s.

Parker Bass RHP / Olathe West, KS / 2028One of the most physically imposing arms in the region if not the country at a sturdily built 6-foot-7, 222-pound frame. Controls his body well for his size. Features an electric high-spin three-pitch mix highlighted by a fastball up to 91 mph that jumps on hitters with an average of over six feet of extension and spin rates north of 2,400 RPM. Slider is a true out pitch playing with depth off of the fastball, working into the upper-70s with spin rates as high as 2,600 RPM. Will occasionally flash a low-80s changeup with heavy arm-side fade. Certainly an arm to watch when he toes the rubber this upcoming week. |

Gabe Brown RHP / St. Mary's Colgan, KS / 2028Lean, high-upside 6-foot-1, 170-pound with plenty of room to add on. Served as a frontline starter for St. Mary's Colgan, helping lead the Panthers to back-to-back 2-1A state championships. Runs the fastball into the upper-80s from an effortless, loose arm action that promises much more to come. Also spins a 73-76 mph slider that shows swing and miss potential and flashes feel for a low-80s changeup. |

Luke Busse RHP / Olathe Northwest, KS / 20286-foot-7, 210-pound frame with all sorts of upside. True starter potential that has taken a massive leap on the mound over the past year, adding nearly 10 mph to his fastball, now running it into the low-90s (T92.3), spinning north of 2,200 RPM. Spins two high-spin breaking balls, a curveball in the upper-60s with 2,400+ RPM and a slider in the low-70s with 2,500+ RPM and -14"+ of horizontal break. Will also turn over a changeup at 76-77 mph.

Michael Dobbs INF/RHP / Seaman, KS / 20285-foot-10, 170-pounds. One of the top two-way talents in the state, currently ranked No. 9 overall in the state's soon-to-be junior class. High skill athlete that continues to see an uptick in measurables as he continues to add polish and strength to his game. Quick right-handed swing that consistently finds barrels and has noticeable pull-side pop that shows up in game. Versatile defender with comfortability on the infield dirt or behind the plate with easy arm strength to pair (T91 mph). On the mound, features feel for a four-pitch mix, running the fastball up to 88 mph in our looks from a quick arm, paired with a two seam, curveball, changeup mix.

Gabe Escobar INF/RHP / Shawnee Heights, KS / 2028Quick twitch, 5-foot-8, 148-pound athlete. Two-way standout for a Shawnee Heights team that finished as Class 5A state runner-ups, earning the win on the mound in the semifinal game. 6.55 runner that impacts the game on the basepaths as well as defensivel with easy range, sure hands up the middle, and a 91 mph arm. Compact right handed swing with a strong feel for the barrel that plays up in game. Athletic mover that works downhill on the mound, running the fastball up to 88 mph with a tight slider that tunnels well off of the fastball.

Wyatt Hansen RHP / Olathe South, KS / 2028Physically built with size and strength in a 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame. Inherent arm strength with a fastball that plays in the mid-80s with more on the way. Commands the zone with a high-spin, swing-and-miss slider in the upper-60s to low-70s with up to -18" of horizontal movement that flashed true out pitch potential. Also, turns over a changeup in the upper-70s.

Cole Harris C / Shawnee Mission South, KS / 20286-foot-3, 184-pound backstop that shows some of the most upside out of any position player in the state's incoming junior crop. Garnered considerable playing time this spring on a Shawnee Mission South squad that reached the Class 6A semifinals, showing the ability to handle arguably the state's best pitching staff behind the plate. Accurate arm from the chute with 1.95-2.08 pop times. Swings an effortless, long-levered right-handed barrel with future power potential as he continues to add strength to a lean frame.

Everett Hash OF / Olathe Northwest, KS / 20286-foot-2, 190-pound frame with lean strength and twitch. Few players are having a bigger summer than Hash who continues to establish himself as one of the top offensive threats in the state's 2028 class as he nears double-digit homers on the summer. Generates big bat speed at the plate with power to pair, consistently getting off aggressive, intentful hacks that generate exit velocities well into the triple digits. Lively arm from the outfield (T87 mph) and 6.78 runner. Will be a name to keep an eye on throughout the week.

Landen Hays OF/LHP / Olathe Northwest, KS / 2028One of the top two-ways in the state, ranked No. 4 in the Kansas class. 5-foot-10, 200-pound left/left athlete that holds strength and twitch throughout. Had a breakout spring on both sides of the ball, helping lead Olathe Northwest to a 6A State Tournament berth. Generates high-level bat speed and upper 90s exit velocities from a left-handed swing that shows middle-of-the-order power potential at the plate. Arm strength is evident from the outfield (T91 mph) as well as on the mound where he ran the fastball up to 89 across several looks this spring. |

Hunter Horner UTL / Blue Valley West, KS / 2028Wiry 6-foot-2, 165-pound athlete with plenty of projection and room to add size and strength. Possesses an impact run tool, running a 6.72 60 on our lasers but plays faster than that in game. Has a motor, knows how to use his speed on both sides of the ball. All-fields approach at the plate with high bat-to-ball from a level right-handed swing that holds direction well. Polished actions defensively with advanced arm strength and versatility to play both infield and outfield. Has shown impressive growth over the past year and continues to trend up. |

Lucas Kamerzell RHP/OF / Blue Valley, KS / 20286-foot-3, 208-pound frame with all sorts of physicality. Ranked No. 8 overall in the state's soon-to-be junior class. Broke out in a big way this spring as a go-to arm out of the bullpen for one of the state's top teams, earning a second team all-state nod and tying the school record for saves. Composed, low heartbeat on the mound with feel to land a low-70s breaking ball for strikes in all counts, running the fastball up to 90 mph. Swings a loud right-handed barrel that has been one of the biggest winners in the class throughout the summer, hitting well over .450 with 15 extra-base hits.

Carter Laubach C / Lawrence Free State, KS / 2028Strong, compact, 5-foot-10, 185-pound frame. Advanced catcher behind the dish with strong hands and the ability to handle the game well beyond his years. Accurate arm from behind the chute with a chance to stick behind the plate at the next level. Composed hitter in the box, swings a heavy right-handed barrel that has shown the ability to do damage against some of the region's top arms. |

Jackson McDonald 1B / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 20286-foot-1, 240-pound frame that possesses some of the top raw strength in the region. Brings true middle-of-the-order power from a quick right-handed swing that consistently drives balls with authority to the pull side, generating effortless triple digit exit velocities with the ability to leave the yard at a moment's notice. Made an instant impact as a middle-of-the-order presence for Aquinas this spring, helping lead them to their third straight state title and earning all-state honors. |

Luke McKenna RHP / Shawnee Mission South, KS / 2028The top prospect in the Kansas class and one of the top arms in the region, ranked inside the top 175 nationally. Noticeable arm talent in a high-ceiling 6-foot-6, 205-pound frame to dream on. Was an impact arm for one of the top rotations in the state this spring as a sophomore. Attacks hitters with a fastball that works into the low-90s, playing up in the zone with major extension (6'8"). Mixes speeds with a sweeping breaking ball in the low-70s that has the makings of a true out pitch spinning north of 2,300 RPMs. Also turns over an upper-70s changeup. A must-see arm for coaches when he toes the rubber next week. |

Asher Newton INF / Manhattan, KS / 2028Athletic 6-foot, 175-pound frame with present strength and room to continue adding on. One of the most polished and consistent in-game producers in the state, coming in at No. 10 in the state's soon-to-be junior rankings. Swings a smooth left-handed barrel offensively that generates triple digit exit velocities and gap-to-gap pop that shows up in our in-game looks. High motor defender that plays with pre-pitch bounce and rhythm paired with high-level hands and the ability to throw from multiple arm slots. 6.8 runner. Will be a name to watch closely throughout the week. |

William Pepper INF/RHP / Spring Hill, KS / 20286-foot-2, 185-pound high-end two-way athlete, currently ranked No. 3 overall in the Kansas class. Shows true 5-tool potential that continues to trend up as he polishes his game. Reliable middle-of-the-order bat with noticeable bat speed and strength that pairs with a mature, all-fields approach that knows when to hit for power or shorten up and do a job with two strikes. Fundamentally sound on the infield with easy arm strength (T90 mph) that has proven he can stick on the left side. Runs the fastball into the upper 80s on the mound with feel to land a curveball/changeup mix.

Maddox Pyle RHP / De Soto, KS / 2028Lean 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame with lean, long-levered strength and room to tack on. Was a standout at our Prime and Precision Scout Day earlier this summer and has continued to trend up since. Has ran his fastball up to 87 across our looks this summer, showing present arm talent, working from a clean 3/4 arm slot that is primed for a jump. Commands a low-70s, swing-and-miss breaking ball to both sides of the zone. Also throws a tumbling splitter in the upper-70s that consistently produces weak contact and keeps hitters off the barrel.

Brodee Rawlins INF/RHP / Olathe South, KS / 2028Strong and compact 5-foot-10, 175-pound build, ranked No. 2 overall in the state. Has consistently performed over the past two years, making an impact as an everyday starter for Olathe South since his freshman year. Short, simple right-handed stroke that always seems to be on the barrel and has shown the ability to handle top arms in the region. 6.88 runner and fundamentally sound athlete on the infield with an 88 mph arm. High-level strike thrower who will also run the fastball up to 86 on the mound. Gritty, gamer-type that will be a four-day follow throughout the week.

Jack Renze RHP / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2028Physical with strength throughout at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds. Boasts one of the top athletic profiles in the state with eye-popping metrics that are some of the loudest in the state. Heavy fastball plays in the mid-to-upper-80s with sheer arm strength, boring in on right-handed hitters with heavy arm-side action at times. Kills spin on a changeup in the upper-70s while flashing feel to land a tight mid-70s slider for strikes. |

Jordy Scott OF / Rock Creek, KS / 2028Strength filled 5-foot-11, 190-pound athlete with a unique blend of power and speed. Consistent in-game producer that makes him one of the top bats in the state. Helped lead Rock Creek back to the state tournament once again with a massive sophomore campaign this spring, hitting north of .500 with 20 extra-base hits. Always seems to be on the barrel from a fluid left-handed stroke, registering effortless triple digit exit velocities. 6.8 runner that can impact the game on the basepaths as well as defensively in the outfield, with arm strength to pair (T89 mph). |

Brody VanHouten RHP / Spring Hill, KS / 2028Physically imposing 6-foot-4, 225-pound frame with present strength and room for more. A reliable option out of the Spring Hill bullpen this spring and recent winner at our Heart of America Summer ID where he sat comfortably with his fastball in the mid-80s, topping out at 86.8 mph with plenty more in the tank. Complements the heater with a mid-to-upper 70s sweeping curveball and a low-80s changeup, rounding out a promising arsenal loaded with upside in one of the higher-ceiling frames in the state. |
