Wiregrass Summer/Rising Stars ID: Quick Hits

Prep Baseball Alabama Staff

ENTERPRISE, AL - The 2026 Summer ID Tour made its final stop on Tuesday, July 14th as Prep Baseball Alabama traveled to Enterprise High School in Enterprise, AL for the Wiregrass Summer ID and Wiregrass Rising Stars ID. The event featured prospects from the 2027-2032 graduating classes who participated in a full day of evaluations and data collection in front of the Prep Baseball Alabama staff.

Attendees participated in a pro-style workout that included laser-timed 60-yard dashes using VALD Performance gates, batting practice with TrackMan technology, and defensive evaluations with arm strength metrics recorded at each position. The event served as an early summer opportunity for players to update their profiles, collect verified data, and showcase their tools heading into a busy summer schedule. In addition to collecting valuable data, players were also evaluated for some of Prep Baseball's premier national events, including the Senior Future Games (2027s), Future Games (2028s), Southeast Super Sophomore Games (2029s), and Junior Future Games (2030-2031s).

In this Quick Hits article, we spotlight several standout performers from the event, providing brief scouting notes and observations from their workouts while highlighting some of the metrics that helped separate them on Tuesday.

Wiregrass Summer ID

Trammell is in the midst of a breakout summer and has quickly inserted himself into the conversation among Alabama's talented group of 2028 right-handed pitchers. The lean, athletic 6-foot, 169-pound right-hander possesses plenty of upside and works with an up-tempo operation featuring a clean, loose arm action from a high three-quarter slot. His fastball showed significant arm-side run while sitting 87-88 mph and topping at 88.7 mph, averaging 19.7 inches of horizontal movement. Trammell complemented it with a 73-74 mph curveball and a 74-75 mph slider, each offering distinct shapes while spinning north of 2250 RPM, and he also killed spin effectively on a 77-79 mph changeup. There is already plenty to like in the profile, and with additional physical maturation still ahead, the ceiling remains high for the right-hander.

Milanowski continues to make considerable strides year over year and enters his junior season firmly established as one of the top shortstops in Alabama's 2028 class. The 5-foot-10, 164-pound prospect still has a lean frame with plenty of room to continue adding strength, but the tools already stand out. He turned in arguably the best round of BP at the event, consistently living on the barrel and driving the baseball to all fields with authority while utilizing a short, compact swing and advanced barrel skills to square balls up with regularity. Milanowski led the event with a 101.4 mph exit velocity, and the bat continues to translate into game action where his gamer qualities and knack for performing consistently show up. He also turned in a blazing 6.31-second 60-yard dash, the fastest time recorded at any Prep Baseball Alabama event this summer. Milanowski rounded out the showing by topping at 88.7 mph on the mound while showcasing impressive strike-throwing ability and feel for his secondary offerings.

Coming off a breakout junior campaign that established him as one of the top uncommitted southpaws in Alabama's 2027 class, Senn continues to gain traction on the recruiting trail. The highly projectable, low-mileage left-hander helped lead Ariton to a 2A state title this spring, where double-digit strikeout performances became a regular occurrence. Senn possesses a long-limbed, athletic frame and sat 82-84 mph while topping at 85.0 mph with occasional sink and natural arm-side action on the fastball. His 75-77 mph slider proved to be one of the best pitches at the event, showing late, hard action while spinning north of 2800 RPM and projecting as a true swing-and-miss offering at the next level. He also mixed in a firmer 79 mph cutter with tight shape, and with plenty of physical development still ahead, there appears to be considerably more in the tank moving forward.

Boatwright continues to solidify himself as one of the top shortstops in Alabama's 2028 class with his blend of size, athleticism, and defensive ability. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound infielder possesses an impressive frame with present strength and quality athleticism throughout the profile. Offensively, he works with simple, efficient movements to contact, delivering the barrel on an uphill path while creating quality extension out front and looking to drive the baseball to the pull-side gap. There are no wasted movements in the swing, allowing him to consistently get to contact with efficiency. Defensively, Boatwright projects to remain on the left side of the infield thanks to smooth actions, a reliable glove, and a strong arm across the diamond. He ran a 6.85-second 60-yard dash and posted a 94.4 mph exit velocity during BP.

Smith looks like an under-the-radar name to know in Alabama's 2028 class after turning in an impressive showing at the event. The 6-foot-1, 161-pound shortstop possesses a lean, athletic frame with plenty of room to continue adding strength as he develops physically. Offensively, he works with controlled actions in the load before firing a quick, explosive barrel on an uphill path through the zone. Smith showcased present athleticism and twitch throughout the workout, consistently living on the barrel while working through the middle of the field and posting a 96.1 mph exit velocity.

Benton continues to stand out as one of the more intriguing uncommitted power bats in Alabama's 2027 class. The ultra-physical 6-foot-4, 216-pound first baseman carries an imposing presence into the right-handed batter's box and generates easy strength from the build without appearing to swing with max effort. He repeats the swing well, working the barrel on a strong uphill path with a simple load that allows the strength to do most of the work. Benton consistently lived on the barrel throughout BP, producing low-to-mid-90s exit velocities with a peak mark of 98.8 mph while driving the baseball gap to gap with authority.

Weber showcased an intriguing two-way skill set and continues to trend as a quality follow after earning playing time as a freshman for one of the top teams in the state this spring. The athletic 6-foot, 176-pound prospect appears to have added strength since our previous looks while still offering plenty of projection. Offensively, he works from a square, balanced setup with a short, simple load and turns the barrel quickly through the zone with present bat speed on a level path. Weber ran a 6.77-second 60-yard dash and posted a 94.6 mph exit velocity during BP. On the mound, he sat 82-84 mph and topped at 85.0 mph while producing induced vertical break numbers up to 24.4 inches and consistently working north of 20 inches, pairing it with a 70-73 mph spike curveball with vertical shape and a 76-78 mph changeup.

Wiregrass Rising Stars ID

Bracewell was another impressive young prospect in attendance and already possesses a strong foundation of tools to build on moving forward. The lean, athletic 6-foot-2, 150-pound outfielder has obvious projection remaining and doesn't look the part of a rising eighth grader. Offensively, he showcased an easy, controlled right-handed swing that stayed well connected throughout and consistently produced gap-to-gap contact through the middle of the field. Bracewell posted an 87.8 mph exit velocity during BP and continues to look like an intriguing follow in Alabama's 2031 class.

Barton showcased a polished offensive skill set for a young prospect and continues to look like an intriguing follow in Alabama's 2031 class. The 5-foot-9, 150-pound outfielder works with a simple operation featuring quiet actions and a controlled load that allows him to get to contact quickly and efficiently. The left-handed swing is clean and repeatable, with advanced barrel skills and a short path to the baseball that consistently produces quality contact. Barton paired the offensive tools with good athleticism, running a 7.16-second 60-yard dash and posting an 89.5 mph exit velocity during BP.
