Vinnie’s Views: Top 10 Single-Game Performances of 2026 — No. 1: Jeremiah Jennings

As the 2026 California high school season came to a close, plenty of standout performances filled scorecards across the state. Throughout the spring, there was no shortage of memorable individual outings in games captured firsthand by our Prep Baseball California staff during the season.

Over the last two weeks, numbers two through nine have been listed of the top 10 single-game standout performances I've seen across the greater San Diego area during the 2026 spring season, highlighting some of the top individual efforts from around the region. Without further ado... here is number one.

Claiming the top spot in the countdown is senior RHP Jeremiah Jennings after a dominant late-April league outing against Mira Mesa High School that stood above the rest this spring. The UC Santa Barbara signee was nearly unhittable from start to finish, overpowering hitters with one of the top pure pitching performances seen anywhere in the entire state during the 2026 season.

The 6-foot-4 right-hander struck out 17 hitters across seven shutout innings while allowing just two hits and one walk over 102 pitches. Jennings leaned heavily on a fastball that sat 88-91 mph and touched 92, with the pitch continuing to play up throughout the outing as hitters repeatedly struggled to get on time. In fact, 13 of the 17 strikeouts came via the fastball alone. The dominant showing helped Jennings earn the Prep Baseball California Pitcher of the Week honors and further cemented his status as one of the top 2026 arms in San Diego.

The outing capped off an impressive four-year varsity career for Jennings, who logged nearly 181 innings during his time at Madison High School, with more than 130 of those innings coming over the last two seasons as he fully came into his own. Jennings went 5-2 with a 1.60 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 2025 before following it up with a 9-3 record, 1.71 ERA, and 92 strikeouts this spring, which also included a no-hitter. Across his high school career, Jennings compiled 194 strikeouts against just 69 walks, making this a fitting finish for the top spot on the countdown.
