Macon Summer ID: Quick Hits

Dublin, GA - The Macon summer ID took place on June 30th as staff traveled to the Southern Pines indoor complex. This event featured prospects from the 2027-2030 grad classes and serves as an identifier of talent to monitor throughout the summer circuit and into high school ball, and so forth. Throughout the week we will be pumping out the content from this event.

Macon Summer ID- Quick Hits
Landyn Horne, RHP/1B, 2027, Wheeler County
Uncommitted. Horne made a strong impression amongst staff as he led the event in multiple categories. Physical 6-foot-3, 236-pounds with strength throughout. Posted a max 98.0 (event-best) and 87.5 exit velocities with a max distance of 379ft. At the plate, stays coiled well with abilty to generate loads of strength from the ground-up. Utilizes a slight elbow lift into launch with explosivness to the hands and delivers a heavy barrel in-zone. On the mound, creates quality drive downhill with strength in the lower half. Decption to the delivery with limbs everywhere and works from a lower three-quarters slot. Fastball was heavy through the zone at 81-82. Showed a quality slider at 69-70 and a chanegup at 75-77. Horne possesses impact in the barrel with upside on the mound to provide success to a recruiting class.

Lane Sapp, OF, 2028, Bleckley County
Sapp provided an intriguing first look with a good performance in multiple aspects. Athletic 5-foot-8, 137-pounds with a well-connected RH cut. Present foot speed as he ran one of the better times on the day at a 6.91 60. Consistent barrels in a line-drive oriented approach and finished the BP round with a max 88.7 exit velocity. Maintains balance in a positive move-forward with quality separation and stays level through the zone. Defensively, works through the ball well with athletic actions throughout and could profile across multiple spots in the grass. The Bleckley County rising junior shows budding tools in the profile and could take his game to the next level with added strength/size.

Malique Green, 3B/1B, 2028, West Laurens
Quality showing in the box for Green as he finished the round with a max 92.0 exit velocity. Physical, barrel-chested 5-foot-10, 196-pound frame. Stays grounded well and works from the ground-up with present strength in the lower half. Shifts weight effectively through a slight toe-tap trigger with minimal wasted effort throughout the swing. Shows a well-leveraged path with snap in the barrel and budding impact to match. Also ran a 7.25 60-yd as well.

Max Burke, 1B/LHP, 2030, Bleckley County
It was an impressive first look at the rising freshman with shades of an impact two-way player for Bleckley County down the line. Physical 5-foot-7,187-pounds with strength throughout. Really good round of BP as he finished with a max 89.6 exit velocity. Simple actions in the box while generating ground-force strength through the LH Swing. Keeps his hands inside and works short-to-long with some feel for the barrel while spraying the ball to both gaps. On the mound, lived in the zone with excellent feel for a 3-pitch mix. Methodical leg lift while operating from a compact arm action and higher arm slot with ability to hide the ball well. Fastball lived in the upper 70’s while mixing in a curveball and changeup in the low 60’s as well.

Methodical lift and hides the ball well from a compact arm stroke.
Landed a mid 70s fastball in the zone repeatedly and flipped over a low 60s curveball with depth.

Noah Woodard, SS, 2028, Bleckley County
Woodard has made a strong impression amongst staff throughout the summer and followed it with another good showing at the Macon Summer ID. Wiry strength in the lean 5-foot-10, 166-pounds with athleticism throughout. Ran a 7.28 60 and polished round of BP as he sprayed the ball to all parts of the field with authority and produced a max 94.3 exit velocity. Quiet actions with body control and shows a fluid stroke while staying compact. Present barrel feel and accuracy alike with ability to find hard-hit contact. Clean glove-work in the dirt with soft hands and fluid footwork as he works through the ball well. Event-best 84 IF velo and could tick up easily with added strength. Woodard is armed with the type of South GA “gamer” makeup that holds upside across multiple collegiate levels.

Ethan Campbell, SS/3B, 2027, Sandy Creek
Standout showing for the uncommitted rising senior in all facets. Present athleticism in the lean 5-foot-11, 156-pound frame with tools to project. Kicked off the day by running the event-best 60 as he clocked in at a 6.79 backed by a quality first-step (1.62-10-yd) and ability to reach top end speed quickly. Carried it over into BP as he posted a max 90.4 exit velocity with ability to create some pull-side carry. Syncs up well in a bigger leg-lift load and maintains balance through impact. Snappy barrel in-zone from a well-leveraged path with uphill intent. Strong glove in the dirt with present lateral quickness and athletic actions throughout. Campbell boasts a well-rounded profile with a chance to continue to grow into the overall ceiling.

Austin Lipscomb, 1B/3B, 2028, Walker
Heavy barrels throughout the round for Lipscomb as he steadily produced hard-hit contact while living in the middle of the field. Present strength litters the physical 6-foot-3, 197-pound frame with projection remaining in the frame. Finished BP with a max 93.3 exit velocity and a max 332ft distance. Shows a well-connected RH cut and utilizes an early stride as he stays balanced while working from the ground-up. Displays loose, strong hands with some length in-zone and impact in the barrel from an on-plane path. Quality actions at 1B with solid footwork and budding arm strength (81 IF velo). Lipscomb carried a strong role this past spring as a sophomore for the Wolverines and a breakout could be looming.

Walker Fandry, SS/OF, 2030, Westfield School
Fandry put together a solid all-around day with a lean 5-foot-9, 131-pound athletic frame. Ran a 6.91 60, tied for second best at the event. During BP, Fandry showed a balanced, direct-to-ball swing with some bat speed through the zone and a flat path. Posted a max EV of 84.9 with more to come as the frame fills. Defensively, Fandry showed a smooth first step and confidence around the baseball. Utilized a quick and loose arm action to deliver throws across the diamond to post a 78 IF velo. On the mound, Fandry filled up the strike zone with all three offerings. Delivered from a ¾ slot with a shorter arm action. The FB sat in the mid 70s w/ some ASR. The CB had 12-6 shape and lived in the low 60s. CH showed late tumble and sat in the upper 60s. Fandry looks to carry this momentum into the 14u National Championship this week.

Liam Buice, C/OF, 2027, Rock Springs Christian Academy
Uncommitted. Very strong showing from the 5-foot-6, 146-pound Buice. Plenty of room to add to the already athletic frame. A 7.1 runner recorded 10 and 30 yd splits of 1.69 and 3.92, respectively. Athleticism translates in the box, behind the dish, and in the outfield grass as well. Buice posted a 78 C velo, 1.95 pop time, and 83 OF velo, all of which were event bests. The easy arm strength is evident, and paired with efficient footwork behind the dish and in the OF grass as well. During BP, Buice posted a max EV of 87.5 with a quiet load into a direct path to the baseball.

Shane Tucker, 3B/RHP, 2028, Richmond Hill
Physical 5-foot-10, 191-pound frame with strength throughout. Moves well defensively, stays in his lower half and completes throws accurately across the diamond. Transfers the ball quickly into a longer arm action. Tucker had one of the louder rounds of BP at the event posting a max EV of 94 with a max distance of 338. Utilizes the strong lower half well throughout the swing. Pairs the strong lower half with a direct path to the baseball and maintains strength in the hands at contact. Tucker also ran a 7.1 60. Tucker will be an intriguing follow with a well rounded profile and a solid floor.

Carter Cawthon, SS/2B, 2029, Jackson
Cawthon had a solid all-around showcase. At 5-foot-11, 155 pounds, he has a projectable frame with more strength to add as he continues to develop. He moves well defensively with smooth actions and a good feel for being in the right position. He showed a solid arm with the accuracy to match. At the plate, he utilizes a wide base and generates good strength from the ground up. He demonstrated the ability to drive line drives to the opposite field and recorded a max exit velocity of 88.1 mph. From the outfield, he recorded a max throwing velocity of 77 mph while displaying good footwork and clean actions. Expect Cawthon to continue improving on both sides of the ball as he gains experience.

SC Spradley, 1B/LHP, 2030, Lowndes
Spradley had an impressive showcase on both sides of the ball. At 5-foot-11, 178 pounds, he possesses a physical frame with plenty of room to add strength as he enters his freshman year. At the plate, he utilizes a toe-tap load and shows good rhythm and balance in the lower half. He worked the entire field during a solid round of BP, recording a max exit velocity of 88.5 mph. He shows present bat speed throughout the zone with developing pull-side power. On the mound, he filled up the strike zone with a fastball that sat in the mid-70s. He also spun a breaking ball that showed good depth and promising shape. The athleticism and two-way ability stand out at this stage, and there is plenty of upside as he continues to develop. Expect Spradley to continue improving with added strength and experience.

Curtedric Norris, C/1B, 2029, Dublin
Norris had a solid showing at the showcase. At 5-foot-8, 189 pounds, he has a strong, compact frame for a catcher with present strength in the lower half. At the plate, he utilizes a toe-tap load with a heavy barrel throughout the zone and shows power to the pull side. He creates a slight uppercut swing path and generates strong contact with powerful hands at impact. Behind the plate, he worked hard to get into the right position and made accurate throws to the bag. As he continues to gain experience, Norris has the tools to keep developing on both sides of the ball.
