The spring update is arguably the most important and most in depth update of the year. Our staff has taken in more than 240 games this season and during the course of that time, we have gathered evaluations, provided updated scout blogs, updated pitching velos, discussed players on High & Tight, and spent hundreds of hours observing and scouting thousands of players in the state of Virginia & DC. With all of that time put in, we also do a complete overhaul of the entire database of profiles within each class. With the 2028 class our staff has combed and crosschecked more than 1200 profiles in the state to try and be as thorough as possible. The full schedule for the week is as follows: Rankings Risers, New Faces, Top 50, Overall Class Update, and Case for #1.

Today we look at the expanded Top 150 from the VA/DC Class of 2028. In this update we give a little insight into some standout players in the 51-150 range, a glance at the commitment outlook from this class, and just an overall picture as to how this class has shaped up. We have included updated video and notes from the spring evaluation period. You can also see the fully update Top 150, the Top 50 story, Rankings Risers, and New Faces that have entered the rankings during this update in the links above.
- Half of the Top 20 in the Class of 2028 are arms.
- 8 of the other 10 players are infielders (non 1B)
- This class expanded from 125 to 150 this spring.
- Highland School has the most ranked players in the Top 50 (4).
- August 1 will mark the beginning of the recruiting period for the 2028's.
- This will be highlighted by the Future Games the week before.
- The Future Games is the largest recruiting event in the country, featuring the top rising juniors and every major college program on site recruiting.
+ James Strange - RHP - First Colonial HS
Smaller framed right hander with above average arm speed and while there is some effort in the delivery, the fastball seems to have some life out of the hand. Right now it is a little bit of throw over pitch, with some control issues at times, but has some arm strength and some upside to the overall stuff. Shows a breaking ball and changeup, both flashing potential long term. The slider is more finish than early count get over pitch and the changeup has some lift and fade. The fastball is usually in the 85-87 range and will grab some 88's. Pitchability and control to add for long term improvement to the profile, but has some interesting traits to his stuff.

- First Colonial
Comes in for relief and minimizes some traffic on the base paths. Got some chases down with SL late in the counts.

+ Paolo Francioli - C - Highland School
Athletic frame with average to slightly above average bat speed. More contact over power and plays with real energy that translates into his game. Occasional doubles, gets out the box well, and can contribute in a few different ways on defense. Played infield for Highland this year and while he played a solid second base, could be just as valuable behind the plate. Energy guy and sparkplug in the lineup that can be a clubhouse guy. Quality contact and impact at the plate should continue to improve as he matures physically.

+ Aiden Skalski - LHP - Ocean Lakes HS
Big pitchability in the smaller framed left hander. Has thrown in big games for two straight years for OL and never backs down. While it is not loud power stuff, the compete and ability to get outs is eye opening. Shows three and has feel for all three. When he goes out on the mound, you have a pretty good idea of what you are going to get. Works mostly in the low 80's with a bigger 1/7 breaking ball that he can use versus hitters from both sides.

- Ocean Lakes
Has cruised through two scoreless innings with 4 K’s. FB/CH combo has been dialed in early.

+ Joseph Pasowicz - RHP - King William HS
Mid 80's arm that can run it a tick higher. Coils closed during the delivery and lands closed. Works from a lower three-quarter slot and offers a different look and some deception. Mid 70's slider with some finish and has the makings of an above average high school out pitch. Has a good mix of pitchability, arm strength, and stuff to give him more value to the profile and his future on the mound.

Was 84-86 in 1st and more 82-85 in 2nd. Mostly FB’s, but did show a 74-76 mph SL w/ short shape. SL was more finisher than starter. @PrepBaseballVA #VAFirstPitch pic.twitter.com/1ofNVby7vk
