Top-10 Risers
+ CIF Brady Cunningham (Brother Rice; Texas A&M commit) is taking over the No. 1 position in the state and is also making a strong case for our Player of the Year - already shelving CCL Blue Player of the Year honors after he hit .622 with eight home runs, 35 RBIs, a .723 OBP and OPS of 2.101 in conference play. The hit-tool continues to prove to be elite, and his premium athleticism provides a versatile defensive profile.
+ C Tristan Steger (St. Laurence; Kentucky commit) is making the jump to No. 2 in the state, and he’s another one making a strong case for POTW after the numbers he’s put up so far. The profile of being a left-handed hitting catcher is extremely valuable, and his bat continues to perform at a high clip while also showing high-level bat-to-ball abilities and power to the whole field. He will also be able to stick behind the plate at the next level with sufficient catch/throw abilities.
+ Rising a spot to No. 6, RHP Traxton Roberts (Armstrong; Kentucky commit) is an arm that gets us excited with how much untapped potential there still is. Though the floor is already high with a mid-90s fastball, a wipeout curveball and a full arsenal he can throw for strikes, the projectability in the frame along with the overall ceiling makes him incredibly easy to dream on.
+ Speaking of high ceilings, 6-foot-8 southpaw Jimmy Benson (St. Laurence; TCU commit) is making a significant jump up to No. 9 in this update. Benson has been a performer on varsity for two full seasons now, helping lead the Vikings to a state championship last year. He’s been their ace once again and has helped them hold down the No. 1 position in our Power 25 all year, bullying hitters with an invisible fastball that can get up to 89 mph. Though he doesn’t typically need anything more than just his fastball, he also features a sweeping slider and a fading changeup to fill out his arsenal.
Top-50 Risers
+ 1B Keegan Seipp (Triad; Xavier commit) is jumping 12 spots to No. 14 in this update, as he continues to prove to be one of the top left-handed bats across the midwest. There is a present feel to hit with power to all fields, and the swing should continue to play at the next level with how simple and balanced it is. He has 11 home runs on the year so far, further cementing himself as one of the premium power threats in the state.
+ Now up to No. 15, RHP Liam Nash (Huntley) is establishing himself as one of the more electric arms in the state. He’s been up to 94 mph this spring and flashing a sharp slider, and he also took down No. 1 St. Laurence a couple weeks back. The arm-talent is real, and the ability to pitch should only get more polished the older he gets.
+ UTIL Luca Agne (Brother Rice; Boston College commit) is seeing a significant jump to No. 25 in this update, as he’s proven to be a huge addition for the Crusaders. The recent Boston College commit is a spark plug that can play anywhere on the diamond, and he’s also a switch-hitter that performs in-game, matching up with his big showcase metrics (101 mph EV).
+ Rising 23 spots to No. 36 in the state, C/OF Rocco Triolo (Lincoln-Way East) has been one of the biggest performers in the state so far this spring as he now sits at 11 home runs on the year. The right-handed hitter has a balanced operation with the ability to control the barrel, elevating the ball with ease pull-side and up the middle of the field. He’s also a steady defender both behind the plate and in the outfield with a well above-average arm.
+ One of the biggest risers in this update, RHP Kobe Jordan (Providence Catholic) is jumping 92 spots to No. 38. The 6-foot-5 right-hander has seen a massive velocity jump, working the fastball up to 91 mph in our looks, but more impressively he’s been competing in the zone and repeating his long-levered delivery. The ceiling is incredibly high with Jordan, and there are more jumps likely in the near future.
+ INF Julio Ayala (Montini) is up 12 spots to No. 43 as he continues to look like one of the top uncommitted infield prospects in the state. The actions and hands really stand out on the dirt with the ability to stick there longterm. He’s also a left-handed hitter with a clean, loose swing and more power to come as he fills into his 6-foot, 190-pound frame.
+ INF Zane Schneider (Lemont) is now sitting at No. 48, jumping 15 spots in this update. The physical right-handed hitter is another one of the top uncommitted infielders in the state, holding big power upside in his 6-foot-4 frame. He’s a confident player that makes it look easy both with the bat and with the glove, and he’s primed for a big summer ahead.
