Throughout the VA/DC high school season, our staff travels far and wide to identify the best players in the Commonwealth. In additon to that, our staff delivers evaluations and video to assist players in their recruiting process. Every week our staff members provide notes and video in an assortment of scout blogs. Jordan Jones, the Virginia/DC Assistant Scouting Director, will be delivering his weekly scout blog on some of the players he saw during his travels.

Lord Botetourt
|
Swisher Cook OF / LHP / Lord Botetourt High, VA / 2029A second look at Cook this spring, and he put together quality at-bats throughout the night. He went 2-3 with a double and three walks. He has a very patient and selective approach, attacking pitches he knows he can handle. The one time he was really aggressive early in the count, he sent a hard hit ball to left for a double. He looks to lift the baseball with strength to the pull side. It is a good frame with lean strength present, and there is more room to add with future power potential from the left side.

Norfolk Academy
| |
Davis Steadman 3B / C / NORFOLK ACADEMY, VA / 2026It was a strong showing for Steadman as he put together hit after hit throughout the day that totaled up to four hits. He was aggressive early in counts and at anything that crossed the plate. He kept a simple approach, staying up the middle of the field with line drives. He had the ability to turn the barrel in his last at-bat for a double. He showed some bag accuracy and arm strength behind the plate by throwing out a runner. He is a competitor and is willing to do what it takes to win.

Pulaski County
| |
Bryce Beeler OF / 2B / Pulaski County SR. High, VA / 2028Quality contact came off the bat of Beeler with a double and single on the night. It is a long, lanky frame that has some bat-to-ball skills with doubles power. There is room to add strength for some potential future impact. He puts together scrappy at bats and is aggressive early in counts.

Seth Carter RHP / OF / PULASKI COUNTY SR. HIGH, VA / 2027Carter has always been strong and physical, but he has taken that up a notch this spring. The impact is beginning to show up in the game more consistently. He made an instant impact in his first at-bat with an absolute no-doubt home run out of left. He would follow that up with a loud single into left for his second hit of the night. The present/future power potential fits the corner outfield profile and gives some intrigue with it being on display more often this spring.

Kaleb Sartin OF / RHP / Pulaski County SR. High, VA / 2027Sartin was impactful on Monday night as he displayed some of his tools. He led off the game with a solo home run out of left center off of a two-strike changeup. He would pick up another hit on the night with a single into center. He showed off the above-average arm strength late in the game by throwing out the potential game winning run on a fly ball to center. He is an above-average runner and has the tools and athleticism to stick in center and impact the top of the order.

Turner Ashby
| |
Grady Bowman OF / 3B / Turner Ashby High, VA / 2027Bowman was a consistent producer for the Knights on Tuesday night. He had two hits, including a double. He brings an aggressive approach and makes loud contact. There is strength in the frame with impact from gap to gap. It is a corner outfield profile long-term with some future power potential.

| |
Mason Mantz C / OF / Turner Ashby High, VA / 2027The high-end competitiveness and consistency that Mantz has brought to this Turner Ashby program over the last three years are unmatched. He is the type of player that is willing to do whatever it takes to win. He is a consistent offensive producer with bat-to-ball skills. It is a compact frame that can spray the ball around the yard and can run into a few baseballs to the pull side with some added strength. He had two hits on the night and was a spark in the heart of the order. The arm strength has improved behind the plate as he threw out a runner on the night. He is a hard-nosed player that contributes to winning.

William Monroe
|
Talan Morris 3B / C / William Monroe High, VA / 2028Morris was the leading contributor for William Monroe. He was aggressive early in counts and got a couple of good swings off for two hits on the night. He has rhythm in the hands with a whippy barrel path. He looks to get the barrel out early and use his strength to the pull side.
