Future Games: Workout Day Takeaways

Emerson, GA: The top 2028's had the chance to showcase their talent in front of 400+ college coaches across 2 days at the 2026 Future Games. They completed their pro-style workout on the 22nd and all of their stats can be found HERE. Check out some strong performances below. 

Team Georgia

Brooks DeRosa, OF, 2028, North Gwinnett
The bat-to-ball skills for DeRosa have been long-standing and showed well again on one of the biggest stages. Finished his mature round of BP with an average EV of 91.8 and max EV and max distance of 98.8 and 373ft respectively for new career marks across the board. Outfield actions lead to a long-term future in CF backed by above-average arm strength. Significant floor.

Jax Nystrom, 2B, 2028, Denmark
The loud showings for Nystrom continue to stack up with another potent round yesterday. Compact 5-foot-9, 161-pound frame stays coiled extremely well with explosive bat speed in a pull-side heavy approach. New max EV for the middle infielder at 104.2 and shows real power potential long-term. Infield actions play across the dirt with a chance to profile at multiple positions at the next level.

Rylan Jenkins, OF, 2028, Washington County
The impact in the profile for Jenkins stands out in many ways and had the full clip on display on Wednesday. Mature approach in BP, working through the middle of the field extremely well while flashing ability to turn on balls whenever he wanted. Max EV 98.8 with max distance at 370ft that cleared the scoreboard. CF actions defensively with an electric first step and ability to track in all directions. Above-average ceiling across the board.

Lio Garcia, SS, 2028, Buford
The #3 player in Georgia’s 2028 class would put together an outstanding day across the board and point to a legit five-tool player. BP was electric for the SS as Garcia would send more than a handful of balls out to left and LCF while generating a max EV of 103.5 (Avg. 96.6) and max distance of 400ft. The quality day carried into an advanced round of I/O while showing present arm strength (IF 88 MPH, OF 94) and twitch that will keep at the 6 forever. 6.54 in the 60 to cap off the high-level day.

Tripp Sapp, SS/RHP, 2028, Loganville
The high-floor profile for Sapp gets better with every look and put together a solid showing in workouts. Line-drive oriented approach with ability to drive balls across the yard and has a willingness to work backside. Excellent instincts with high IQ and present arm strength that will allow for Sapp to stick in the dirt long-term and has significant room to get physicality as he matures.

Caelen Frederick, OF, 2028, Milton
Frederick has potential to be one of the top outfielders in the class and made strides again on a big stage. Everything came off the bat at 90+ with a max EV at 97.0 and ability to fire frozen ropes to the backside at will. Rangy actions in the outfield with present arm strength that continues to grow and can point to Frederick profiling anywhere in the grass.

Breck Hemphill, OF, 2028, Harrison
An outlandish performance from one of the top players in Georgia’s 2028 class that made waves across the quad on Wednesday. Balls were exploding off the barrel in BP with an average EV of 99.7 while touching one of the highest numbers of the day at 108.2. Prestigious power potential for Hemphill that could be double-plus at peak. Sneaky athlete for the physical frame with a 6.70 60 and flashes ability to find a home in CF at the next level. Top-of-the-class ceiling.

David Vargas, SS, 2028, Cartersville
One of the top infielders in Georgia’s 2028 continues to build his floor and points to high-level upside in the middle infield long-term. Gap-to-gap approach in a strong round of BP with a max EV at 93.2. Defensive actions remain among best in the class with soft hands and present arm strength that plays from multiple angles.

Colin Anderson, 3B/OF, 2028, Etowah
The effortless power display from Anderson should be a surprise to no one but abundantly impressive once again. Averaged 97.6 off the bat throughout the round with a max of 101.0 and sent balls into the third row of trees with minimal effort. Defensive actions and arm strength could allow Anderson to profile at 3B or across the outfield at a high level. August 1st won't be a quiet day for the #2 player in the state.

Hank Drew, C, 2028, Lowndes
Imposing presence in the box with an XL 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame and uphill path that generates easy loft at contact. Average EV at 93.6 with a max of 97.5 as he carried balls to the pull-side with minimal effort. Moves well in the crouch with flexibility in the lower half that can allow for Drew to stick behind the dish long-term despite the frame. Big-league bloodlines with a profile that has made consistent strides over the last year plus and developed into one of the top C in the class.

Lawson Moore, 1B/LHP, 2028, Gatewood
Another showing with heavy pull-side barrels from Moore as the 1B opened the week with a bang. Effortless bat speed with ability to keep the barrel on-plane consistently. Generated a max EV of 102.1. Power over hit long-term but a chance for a plus tool with ability to find impact in-game regularly.

Zach Koons, SS, 2028, Greater Atlanta Christian
Koons presents one of the highest floor defensive profiles in the class and the bat gets louder every time we see it. Set new high marks in both max EV (98.9) and max distance (375ft.) as he found the barrel throughout the mature round. Glove will keep Koons in the middle infield forever with plus range and an accurate arm that plays from all angles. This profile helps your roster across the board with even more to tap into going forward.

Rylan Farlow, SS/RHP, 2028, Greenbrier
Farlow had the two-way profile on display to open the week and came through with standout metrics in nearly every category. The RH cut shows a simple trigger with innate accuracy in the barrel with 86% hard-hit rate and max EV at 100.7 (Avg. 94.3). Bat speed is present with easy pull-side carry. Defensive actions are strong with lateral range and present above-average arm strength that plays with accuracy across the diamond.

Chase Alonso, SS/RHP, 2028, Rabun Gap
Heavy barrels throughout for the talented two-way that generated consistent 90+ EVs. Simple trigger with excellent length in-zone that allows for frozen rope line-drives across the field. Max EV 98.7. Plus arm strength stood out in a big way as Alonso would finish tied for 2nd at 96 MPH and 94 across the infield. Special arm talent that will stand out in a big way on the mound later on this week.

Team Southeast

Noah Harris, SS/RHP, 2028, Benedictine
The stock continues to skyrocket for Harris with a significant ceiling to tap into. Tapered 6-foot-2, 179-pounds with a high waist and present loud tools. Loud barrels across the round as he posted a max 102.2 and an average 93.1 exit velocities. Showcased effortless pull-side power with a max distance of 377ft. Soft hands and range stand out in the dirt with excellent instincts while showing a strong arm (86 MPH). Must follow across the week and real 5-tool potential.

Cash Cauley, MIF, 2028, Mount Paran
It was a breakout spring for Cauley and ultimately earned a bid to Future Games with a strong opening day showing. Physical, athletic 6-foot-1,174-pounds with tools to project. Ran a 7.14 60-yd with a (1.80 10-yd split). Steady barrels in BP with feel to spray the ball to both gaps as he posted a max 95.1 and an average 89.9 exit velocities. Max distance of 357ft. with strength to project upon. Flexibility in the dirt with present lateral quickness and arm strength to match (84 MPH).

Kingston Jones, SS/3B, 2028, Pope
Game motor and intangibles always stand out for Jones that allow the tools to play up in-game. Hitterish actions in the box with present bat-to-ball skills and used the whole field well in a polished round of batting practice. Kicked off the day by running a 6.89 (1.61 10-yd split). Finished BP with a max 94.6 and an average 85.8 exit velocities with a 341ft max distance. Athletic in the dirt with range and soft hands along with arm strength (87 MPH). Chance to profile up the middle long-term with versatility across the diamond.

Jackson Lee, OF/SS, 2028, Landmark Christian
One of the true hit-tools in the peach state that shows at a high-level time and time again no matter the setting. The switch-hitting shortstop was all over the barrel from both sides of the plate as he sprayed the ball to all parts of the field with ease. Ran a 7.09 60-yd (1.63 10-yd split) and twitch to project a sub 7. Posted a max 92.1 EV from the left-side and a max 94.0 EV from the right-side. Sent one out over the RF wall while batting LH for a max distance of 353ft. Looked the part defensively both in the dirt and in the grass as well. 86 MPH INF velo and a 90 OF MPH with athleticism that will carry to profile in multiple premium positions.

Jude Smith, OF, 2028, Holy Innocents
Athleticism litters the profile for Smith with projectability in the lean 6-foot-1, 163-pound frame. Ran a 6.70 backed by an explosive first step (1.58 10-yd) and ability to reach top end speed quickly (21.1 Run Speed). Consistently found the barrel in batting practice while working to both gaps well with a max 96.6 and an 88.2 average exit velocities, with a max distance of 331ft. Athletic in the grass with present foot speed and arm strength to match (86 MPH).

Matthew Zander, 3B/RHP, 2028, Calhoun
Potent cuts throughout and was able to carry a handful way out into the trees for multiple no-doubt home-runs. Max 97.7 and an average 88.4 exit velocities with a max distance of 380ft while creating pull-side loft at will. Finished with an infield velo of 82 MPH with quality actions across.

Connor Mitchem, C, 2028, Gatewood
Loads of strength throughout the physical 6-foot-4, 212-pound frame with huge power potential that was evident across batting practice. 7.44 runner in the 60-yd. Heavy barrels with a max 102.8 and an average 93.1 exit velocities while generating significant pull-side carry at a max distance of 396ft. 73 C velo with a 2.05 pop time and chance to continue to grow into the overall profile defensively.



Jax Foust, C/SS/RHP, 2028, North Paulding
A true swiss-army knife and boasts the type of gamer profile with excellent intangibles that should draw interest across multiple levels as it has shown early to open the week. Ran a 7.15 60-yd. Finished with a max 95.6 and an average 88.1 exit velocities with max distance of 353ft. while showing sneaky pull-side juice. Versatile athlete that can fill a multitude of roles defensively. Quality actions at multiple premium positions and showed a 77 C velo with a 1.93 pop time to match. Also showed off the arm strength with soft hands in the dirt as he added a 87 INF velo.

Cal Pearson, OF/RHP, 2028, Pope
The Greyhound two-way really burst onto the scene this spring and ran with a huge role that carried well into the playoffs. Uber-athletic 6-foot-2, 177-pounds with tons more to project in the frame and clocked in at a 6.6 60-yd. Posted a max 99.4 and an average 89.5 exit velocities with a max distance of 364ft. Solid footwork with present arm strength (89 MPH) and chance to profile in both corners long-term.

Grant Chaffin, OF, 2028, Central
Chaffin has been one of the more consistent pieces in this class across the past couple of circuits with another strong impression in a highly touted event. Ran the best 60 across Team Georgia and Team Southeast with a 6.48 60-yd. Max 94.0 and an average 85.0 exit velocities with a 340ft. Max distance while using the whole field well. Impact glove in centerfield with plus foot speed and range alike while showing a strong arm to match (89 MPH).

Devon McLoughlin, SS/RHP, 2028, Greenbrier
McLoughlin is coming off a breakout spring circuit as he carried it into the summer and showed well in multiple different categories at Future Games. Opened with a 6.78 60-yd time. Followed by a max 97.7 and average 92.7 exit velocities. Produced a max 373ft distance as well. Athletic actions in the dirt with budding arm strength as he posted an 83 MPH infield velocity.
