The 2026 high school baseball season is underway and, as usual, excitement is present throughout Iowa. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across the Hawkeye State.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Cedar Rapids or Carroll at the IHSAA state tournaments, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to shine a spotlight on all teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Iowa.

Each week we will be releasing our Power Rankings, Scout Blog, Diamond Notes, and Player of The Week, covering all the bases across the state of Iowa.

NOTES

+ Indianola's Goerge Blake threw a 7 inning complete game, gave up 4 hits, 1 run, 3 walks and had 7 strikeouts

+ Davenport Assumption's Nolan Dittmer was 2 for 3 with a double, home run, 3 RBI’s and 2 runs.

+ North Polk’s Ty Lamfers threw 5 innings, gave up 4 hits, 1 run, 0 walks and had 5 strikeouts.

+ Durant’s Colby Gast went 1 for 3 with a home run, 2 RBI’s and a run scored.

+ North Linn’s Jackson Neilson threw 7 innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. 

+ Solon’s Luke Merrick was 2 for 2 with a single, double, 2 walks and 1 run.
