Position by Position: Breaking Down the North Carolina Class of 2027 Rankings

With the latest update to the North Carolina Class of 2027 Rankings now complete, it provides an opportunity to take a different look at one of the state's deepest classes.

While Prep Baseball does not officially rank players by position, breaking the board down position-by-position offers a fun way to see how the talent stacks up across the field. The overall rankings are built through a comprehensive evaluation process that considers tools, athleticism, projection, performance, and long-term upside. Once players are stacked inside the class, natural positional groupings begin to emerge.

For the Class of 2027, most players are listed according to the positions they select on their Prep Baseball profiles. As evaluations continue, members of the Prep Baseball scouting staff may occasionally adjust positions to better reflect where we believe a player's long-term future fits best.

One of the biggest takeaways from the Class of 2027 continues to be its depth. Several positions feature a healthy mix of committed players and high-end uncommitted prospects, giving college coaches a deep pool of talent to continue evaluating throughout the summer.

As events such as the NC/SC Border Battle, Senior Future Games, Program Invite tournaments, and the Tobacco Road State Games approach, additional movement within these positional groups is expected.
