Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.

We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. Sean Popp (2026; Oakton CC) went 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and one run scored. Orlando Vazques (2026) went 2-for-3 with four FRBI and a walk, Jacob Hite (2028) added a triple, one RBI and two runs scored, Cory Les (2026; Louisville) added a double with three runs scored and two walks, and Danny Donovan (2026; Wisconsin-Parkside) added a hit with two RBI, two runs scored and a walk.

Ty Hudik (2026; Maryville) went 1-for-1 with a home run, three RBI, two runs scored and two walks, and Case Templin (2027) went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored. At the top of the lineup, Evan Riiff (2027; Valparaiso) tallied a pair of hits, one being a double, with one RBI and two runs scored. On the mound, Owen Lense (2026; Quincy) earned the win, tossing two innings, stirking out one, walking one and allowing one hit. Bryson Das (2026) threw two innings in relief, struck out three, walked one and allowed one hit.

Gavin Geegan (2027), Kamden Muell (2026; St. Mary's-Minnesota), and Kaleb Gossett (2029) each tallied a hit in the game, and Nate Cygan (2026) and Owen Middleton (2027) each talled one RBI. On the mound, Frankie Pavlik (2026; Black Hawk JC) earned the win, firing 3.1 innings in relief, striking out four, walking one, allowing one run and four hits.

Zane Maxwell (2026) added a double, two RBI and a walk. For Springfield, Karter Marks (2027) went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI, and Wade Snyder (2026) went 1-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored.

Sacred Heart Griffin took down No. 23 Dunlap 6-5 in walk-off fashion. The Cyclones were down 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Austin Rutter singled to score two - capping off a 3-for-4 day with three RBIs.

No. 23 Dunlap took down Pleasant Plains 3-2. Tristan Pittenger threw it well, going five shutout innings with just one hit allowed, striking out five. Pierce Placher (2027) paced the offense with two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Recap

No. 24 Waterloo took down Civic Memorial 2-0 behind Carter Jones (2028), who fired 5.1 innings to notch the win, scattering two hits, no runs or walks and three strikeouts. Caden Castello earned the save with 1.2 innings of no-hit ball. Austin Martin (2027) paced the offense with a triple and a double, also collecting an RBI and a run scored.

Saint Viator took down Lake Park 12-1. Frank Clary fired two scoreless frames to earn the win. Alec Harer (2-for-4, RBI), Brandon Thomsen (3-for-3, 2B), Jonathan Tschanz (3-for-4, 2 RBI), Tommy Beyna (HR, 2 RBI), Jack Corliss (1-for-3, RBI), Matt Ciccone (1-for-1, RBI), Charlie Staker (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Hunter Lockefeer (HR, 2 RBI) all chipped in offensively. Lions are now 24-10-1 on the year.

A pitcher's balk with Landon Thome (2026; Florida State) on 3rd in the 7th inning broke a 3-3 tie and was the game winner for the Roadrunners for their 25th win of the season. Thome finished the day with two hits, three runs scored and two stolen bases. Gavin Hartigan (R), Marco Fiore (RBI) and Kam Alikhan (2B, 2 RBI) all led the offense. Eddie Donnelly fired three innings with three hits and three strikeouts, while Christian Drye earned the wi with two innings pitched, one hit and two strikeouts.

A walk-off left Normal West Varsity Wildcats on the wrong end of a 1-0 defeat to Taylorville Varsity Tornadoes on Saturday at McKinley Field Champaign, IL. The game was tied at zero in the bottom of the seventh when Maxx Grieme singled, scoring one run. Both teams were strong on the mound. Taylorville Varsity Tornadoes pitchers struck out two, while Normal West Varsity Wildcats sat down seven. Kason Pembroke earned the win for Taylorville Varsity Tornadoes. The hurler gave up three hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out two and walking two. Riley Larkin took the loss for Normal West Varsity Wildcats. The reliever went one and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out two and walking two. Mayson Aslinger opened the game for the Wildcats. The pitcher allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out five and walking none. Calen Riter, Aslinger, and Jasper Pomis each collected one hit for Normal West Varsity Wildcats. Pomis stole two bases. Normal West didn't commit a single error. Normal West Varsity Wildcats will travel to Champaign Central to take on the Champaign Centennial Chargers for their 3A Regional on Wednesday at 6:30 PM.
