Thursday April 30, 2026

Langley 3, Wakefield 2

This one was a pitchers duel, with the Langley Saxons winning the low scoring affair 3-2 over the Wakefield Warriors. The game was tied at zero for the first three frames, before the Saxons scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the fourth. Wakefield scored two in the top half of the sixth, but could not complete the comeback after threatening the seventh. ‘27 Chase Daub went 6IP for the Warriors, only needing 75 pitches and walking one. For Langley, ‘26 Connor Borelli (LaGrange) went the complete 7IP, striking out three. ‘27 Han Davis and ‘26 Lance Emery both collected multiple hits.

#24 Manchester 2, Midlothian 0

One of the best pitching duels of the season between Midlothian’s Ben McAuliffe (Roanoke) and Manchester’s Easton VanDyke and Judah Parks (Lynchburg). All three pitchers filled up the zone throughout, letting their defenses work and picking up strikeouts in big moments. It was a scoreless ballgame heading into the top of the eighth when sophomore Landon Anderson singled through the right side to get the first run on the board. Directly after, Judah Parks laid down a perfect squeeze bunt to make the score 2–0. That was all Manchester needed as Parks continued his dominance and finished out the bottom half for the Manchester win.

Grassfield 3, Nansemond River 2

Grassfield Grizzlies outlasted Nansemond River Warriors 3-2 in a tight pitcher’s duel on Thursday. Ayden Farris (Regent) and Cayden McBride (Concordia) each drove in runs in the third inning to give Grassfield the lead, while Peyton Hartsfield answered with a two-run homer for the Warriors. Brent Miller earned the win with a strong five-inning outing, and Joel Flynn (Regent) secured the save to seal the victory.

Spotsylvania 7, Eastern View 4

A long top of the first allowed Spotsylvania to jump out to a 2-0 lead, but Eastern View did escape giving up a much bigger inning, retiring the last two hitters in order and leaving the bases loaded. The Cyclones would respond in the bottom half when Isaac Babich helped himself out with a RBI single. Spotsy captured that run back on a Josh Perez (Virginia Tech) double in the second. EV would capture the lead in the third when the Cyclones drew a couple of walks and then Isaac Babich struck again, hitting a double into left field to score two. That score would remain until the top of the seventh, when player of the game Josh Perez doubled yet again. Perez’s extra base hit would tie it up and then a few walks, an error, and a Wyatt Cox single would break it open.

Norfolk Academy 9, Atlantic Shores Christian 8

This was a highly competitive game that both sides had a chance to win. Evan O’Boyle (William & Mary) took the mound for Norfolk Academy and worked into the fifth inning keeping the game close. Davis Steadman (Sewanee was a big producer for the Bulldogs as he was 4-4 on the day. In the top of the eight Braylan Pitscheneder (Chowan) had a two-run home run to take a 8-6 lead for the Seahawks. The Bulldogs would rally in the bottom of the eight and O’Boyle would hit a two-run home run to walk things off.

#10 James Madison 8, #16 Centreville 5

Friday night saw the first of two games between the top two teams in the Concord District. Madison got off to a big start in the top of the first when Chase Dorsey (Maryland) launched a three-run homer to left. The Warhawks added another run to open up an early 4-0 lead. Centreville got it back to 4-2 in the second with a Ryan Pilon single, but Madison was able to scratch a few more runs in the middle innings to stretch the lead back to 6-2. Centreville came roaring back in the fifth as Michael Gambone (Appalachian State) mashed an RBI triple and Kees Yashko went oppo for a 2-run homer to make it 6-5. Madison responded with 2 in the top of the sixth and left Brady Myers (William & Mary) was able to lock the game down, finishing with the save in 2.2 scoreless innings.

Warwick 11, Nandua 1

Ian Mayer powered Warwick Raiders to an 11-4 win over Nandua Warriors, driving in four runs with a double and a three-run homer. Brenden Brown set the tone on the mound with 10 strikeouts over five strong innings. Warwick seized control with a five-run fifth inning before adding four more in the sixth to seal it.

Colgan 13, CD Hylton 5

Hylton jumped out to an early lead in the first inning with a Bradley Bannister home run. The Sharks would battle back and have a big fourth inning putting up eight runs. Mark Kennedy got the start for Colgan and maneuvered through traffic and kept the Sharks within striking distance. Tanner Hadsell had a strong showing and helped break things open with two extra base hits on the night.

#6 Frank W. Cox 9, #11 Greenbrier Christian 1

GCA struck first with a Brady Drew solo homerun in the second inning. The Cox Falcons answered back with a Hank Brown (VCU) solo shot in the third and that was followed by two singles and two walks that would result in two more runs scoring, putting the Falcons up 3-1. While that would be all they needed, Cox would continue to pile on runs in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings. While the offense was fairly evenly distributed, the Falcons used multi-hit nights from Hank Brown (2), Alex John (3), and Colin Quilter (2) to help bring this one to the W column. Brown was the standout of the night. He not only hit a homerun, but the Falcons’ ace also tossed six innings of three hit, one run ball, striking out nine along the way. The Falcons move to 14-1 on the year.
