ALABAMA - With the 2026 high school season officially underway, it’s time to recognize the standout performances that helped set the tone across Alabama in Week 8 of the season.
Each week this spring, we will name an Alabama Player of the Week and Alabama Pitcher of the Week, honoring the top individual performances from around the state. These awards are based entirely on nominations submitted by high school coaches, highlighting the athletes who delivered when it mattered most during game action.
From dominant outings on the mound to explosive performances at the plate, Week 8 brought no shortage of impact performances. Now, it’s time to spotlight the next honorees of the 2026 season.
AL Player of the Week: Week 8

Charlie Cutler RHP / 1B / Saint James School, AL / 2026Rankings StateRank: 35 / POS: 13
1B/RHP Charlie Cutler delivered one of the most dominant offensive performances of the season to earn Alabama Player of the Week honors. The Itawamba CC recruit was nearly unstoppable at the plate, going 11-for-15 (.733) with four home runs, including two grand slams, along with three doubles and 16 RBIs. Cutler consistently produced in key situations, providing significant run production while helping lead Saint James to an area championship. |
AL Pitcher of the Week: Week 8

Drew Jackson III LHP / OF / American Christian, AL / 2028LHP/OF Drew Jackson, now a two-time winner of the award, turned in a standout performance on the mound to earn Alabama Pitcher of the Week honors. The 2028 left-hander tossed a complete-game no-hitter, working seven innings while allowing no hits and no runs with 11 strikeouts and just two walks. His outing came in a critical area matchup that American Christian Academy needed to secure a playoff spot, and Jackson responded by controlling the game from start to finish against a previously ranked opponent. |
