Updated Illinois Power 25 Rankings
April 6, 2026
Another week of the season down means another update to the Power 25, and there is a significant amount of movement in this one. The top two remain intact, but there is a good amount of movement below, along with two new teams in the picture - and plenty more knocking on the door.
No. 1 St. Laurence (8-1) holds down our top spot after a 3-0 week, highlighted by a ranked win over now No. 9 Homewood-Flossmoor. No. 2 Normal Community (5-1) slides in right behind them with their lone game of the week being a 4-2 win over Yorkville.
Rising
+ No. 3 Lincoln-Way East (8-0): The Griffins are rising three spots in this update after a dominant spring trip to Tennessee, finishing at a 3-0 clip. They saw wins over Briarcrest Christian 4-2, Westerville North 23-4 and Creek Wood 14-4 - returning to Illinois as one of the hottest teams in the state.
+ No. 9 Homewood-Flossmoor (6-1): Coming off a 1-1 week with a dominant win over Ogden International 12-3, our staff felt the Vikings’ narrow 4-1 loss to No. 1 St. Laurence held as much, if not more weight, helping them rise a couple spots in this update.
+ No. 10 O’Fallon (10-4): The Panthers are coming off a marathon of a week, playing seven games while finishing at a 6-1 clip. They saw wins over De Smet Jesuit 6-2, Neenah 3-0, North Point 12-2, Parkway South 11-3, Blue Springs 6-2 and Howell North 11-4 - while their lone loss came to Missouri’s No. 6 team Fort Zumwalt West 2-0.
+ No. 11 Lockport (5-5): The Porters had an interesting week where they saw a couple strong wins but also fell in the WJOL finals to Joliet West 8-7 in extras. They are jumping a significant amount due to strong wins over No. 4 at the time Brother Rice 8-3, No. 8 at the time Providence Catholic 11-3 and Plainfield East 7-3.
+ No. 12 Triad (8-2): A 3-0 week has Triad up eight spots in this update. They took down Mater Dei 11-0, followed by a win over Wisconsin’s No. 16 team Appleton North 18-7. They capped things off with a tight 3-2 win over Wheaton Warrenville South to finish their undefeated week.
+ No. 20 Mascoutah (7-0): Still boasting an undefeated record, Mascoutah saw a couple strong wins to finish the week at a 2-0 clip. They took down No. 14 at the time Edwardsville 5-0, followed by a dominant 9-0 win over Collinsville.
+ No. 21 Lane Tech (4-4): The Champions went 2-0 on the week and find themselves up a couple spots, thanks to a ranked win over No. 13 Loyola 17-14 and a 4-3 win over a quality Crystal Lake South club.
Falling
+ No. 6 Libertyville (5-3-1): A 2-1 week has the reigning 4A champs falling three spots. They did beat a strong No. 10 McHenry club 3-0 and Glenbrook South 9-0, but they lost to No. 4 Brother Rice 16-8. Still a top team in the state, the Wildcats will face off with strong Stevenson and Barrington clubs in the next handful of days.
+ No. 13 Providence Catholic (3-1): The Celtics went 1-1 this week and are down a handful of spots to No. 13. They beat Joliet Catholic 7-5, but fell to No. 25 at the time Lockport 11-3. They have a tough test ahead, slated to play Marist and then a duo of Kentucky's top programs in No. 1 Trinity and No. 2 St. Xavier.
+ No. 14 Nazareth (8-1): The Roadrunners are dropping a few spots to No. 14 after a 8-4 loss to Whitney Young. They did see a handful of wins on the week though, taking down Morton 14-1, Glenbard South 11-3 and Monmouth United 7-5.
+ No. 24 McHenry (6-2): A 2-2 week has the Warriors down to No. 24, beating Hononegah twice (19-3, 5-4), while also losing to No. 3 at the time Libertyville 3-0 and Mundelein 12-7. The Warriors have a chance to get right back on track this week with five games on the docket, set to square off with Dundee Crown, Harlem, Crystal Lake South and St. Charles North.
+ No. 25 Loyola (4-1): The Ramblers find themselves down to No. 25 after going 1-1 this past week. They saw a 8-3 win over Glenbrook South, but fell in extras to No. 23 at the time Lane Tech 17-14.
New to the Power 25
+ No. 17 Sandburg (7-0): One of the hottest teams in the state right now, Sandburg has a couple Power 25 wins under their belt already this year - taking down No. 17 at the time Maine South 6-2 this past week, as well as No. 19 at the time Lemont 7-4 in the first week of IHSA action. They also saw wins over Marist (4-3) and Tinley Park (11-3) to go 3-0 this past week.
+ No. 19 Lincoln-Way West (6-1): Coming back from their spring trip to LakePoint, the Warriors went an impressive 3-1 on the week and are now 6-1 on the year. They played some strong out-of-state competition, beating Crescent (SC) 7-0, Revere (OH) 12-2 and Marysville (OH) 6-5. Their lone loss came to a strong Southside (AL) club 6-4.
