Nevada - With the 2026 high school season officially underway, it’s time to recognize the standout performances that helped set the tone across the Silver State in the Opening Week.

Each week this spring, we will name an Nevada Player of the Week and Nevada Pitcher of the Week, honoring the top individual performances from around the state. These awards are based entirely on nominations submitted by high school coaches, highlighting the athletes who delivered when it mattered most during game action.

From dominant outings on the mound to explosive performances at the plate, Week 5 brought no shortage of impact performances. Now, it’s time to spotlight Week 5 honorees of the 2026 season.

Player of the Week Spotlight: Keenan Dolan

Bishop Manogue’s Keenan Dolan turned in a "Player of the Year" caliber performance this week, serving as a dual-threat force that led the Miners to a perfect 3-0 record. Dolan’s week was highlighted by an electric power display on April 1st against Galena, where he blasted two home runs and drove in a massive 5 RBIs. He followed that up on April 2nd with a masterclass on the mound against the Tahoe Bears, tossing 6.0 innings of one-hit ball while racking up a staggering 12 strikeouts. Whether he was clearing the fences or silencing opposing bats, Dolan was the definitive X-factor in the Miners' dominant stretch.

Across three games, he reached base in 10 of his 12 plate appearances, drawing 5 walks while only being retired twice in official at-bats since the start of April. His ability to impact the game extended to his baserunning and situational hitting, amassing 13 total bases and 8 RBIs over the three-game span. With his 12-strikeout shutout performance lowering his season ERA and his multi-HR game vaulting him up the state leaderboards.

Green Valley's Gavin Christensen continued his impressive spring campaign on the mound, anchoring an 8-6 victory over South Pasadena. Christensen was the picture of composure, tossing 5.0 solid innings and allowing zero earned runs. He kept the South Pasadena hitters off-balance by attacking the zone, racking up 5 strikeouts while surrendering just four hits. His ability to navigate high-pressure situations without issuing a single walk in the contest allowed the Gators' offense to maintain their lead and secure the non-league win.

Christensen’s season totals reflect one of the most reliable arms in the Gators' rotation. Through seven appearances, he has maintained a microscopic 0.59 ERA and a perfect 4-0 record in games where he was the pitcher of record. With 33 strikeouts over 35.2 innings and an elite .184 Opponent Batting Average, Christensen has proven to be a master of weak contact. His consistency is further highlighted by his 75-pitch effort against South Pasadena, where he maintained a high strike percentage to move his season win percentage to a stellar .667.
