Thompson (14) vs. Pell City (6)
Thompson rallied from an early deficit to defeat Pell City 14-6 in an 11-inning marathon on Tuesday, pulling away with an eight-run explosion in the top of the 11th inning. Pell City grabbed early momentum behind a two-run home run from Austin Daniel in the first inning and added to the lead with run-scoring plays in the second and third to go up 4-2. Channing Beavers later added a solo home run in the fifth to help extend the Panthers’ advantage. Thompson slowly chipped away and eventually tied the game in the seventh with a sacrifice fly from Wyatt Williams and a passed ball to force extra innings. The Warriors then broke the game open in the 11th, sending multiple runs across the plate with a series of timely hits, including RBI singles from Williams, Harper Quang, and Aiden DeRamus. Thompson totaled 14 hits in the win, with DeRamus leading the offense with three hits, while Quang added two hits and multiple RBIs. Joshua Tuttle was outstanding in relief, tossing five scoreless innings with six strikeouts to earn the victory.
Russellville (5) vs. Deshler (2)
Russellville defeated Class 4A No. 1 Deshler 5-2 on Tuesday at Russellville High School. The Golden Tigers broke through in the third inning when Jackson Smith delivered an RBI single to start the scoring. Russellville added to the lead later in the game and held control until Deshler trimmed the deficit in the seventh on a two-run home run from George Youngblood. Smith earned the win on the mound for Russellville, allowing two runs over 6.1 innings while scattering six hits. Ty Engelthaler came on in relief to close out the victory. Smith, Brayden Hatton, and Tristan Ray each recorded two hits for Russellville, while Smith, Tripp Cleveland, and Ray each drove in a run. Youngblood finished with two hits and two RBIs to lead Deshler offensively.
Lynn (3) vs. Addison (2)
No. 9 Lynn edged No. 6 Addison 3-2 on Tuesday in a tightly contested matchup between two top-10 teams in Class 1A. Addison struck first with a solo home run from Stone Talley in the opening inning and added another run in the second to take an early 2-0 lead. Lynn answered in the fourth inning, scoring three runs to take the lead. A fielder’s choice brought in the first run before Cade Key delivered a two-run single to put the Bears in front. Hunter Ellis earned the win on the mound for Lynn after tossing 6.2 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on nine hits while striking out eight. Addison finished with nine hits in the contest, with Conner Lane leading the way with two.
