Everything high school baseball related will be on the GHSA tab on our website. It can be found HERE. This will include the Power 25, Classification Rankings, weekly scout blogs and more.

Today, we are going to introduce a new piece of content called the “Daily Round Up”. Here we will take a look at the games our scouts went to from the previous day and highlight key moments, standout players and our takeaways from the game.

Monday

Parkview @ Peachtree Ridge

Score: Parkview win, 11-1

Standouts:

Chase Vigilance, OF, 2026, Parkview

Grant Lambert, 1B, 2026, Parkview

Gio Vega, 1B, 2026, Peachtree Ridge

Santos Wade, SS, 2026, Parkview

Key moments: A pair of senior arms in Jaxon Barron and Grant Benefield showing quality pitchability early while getting out of trouble often. Gio Vega and Chase Vigilance would set the tone early with a pair of solo HR, before some clutch swings from Grant Lambert, Ellis Appling and Winston Barnett would extend the lead for Parkview. Santos Wade put a cap on the win for the Panthers with a bases-clearing 2B late in an 0-2 count.

Ian’s Takeaway: A quality outing from uncommitted senior Grant Benefield really set the tone for Parkview. Ran it up to 90 while creating soft early contact over 5.0 IP. Experienced depth showed well for the Panthers throughout the night with multiple senior bats coming through with huge knocks in big moments. OF Chase Vigilance sent the dugout into a frenzy with a laser backside HR in a 3-2 count. Twitchy swing with bat speed to impact balls throughout the zone as shown as he got the barrel on the outer half cutter. Gio Vega was an impact bat throughout GDC for Peachtree Ridge and looks to keep rolling into region with a loud pull-side HR on an elevated CH and followed with a sharp base hit up the middle. After a really tough schedule to open the season for Parkview this was the type of win to get team rolling on all cylinders as region hits full swing.

North Paulding @ Fellowship Christian

Score: 7-2, North Paulding Wins

Standouts:
Chance Williams, RHP, 2027, North Paulding

JR Hoffman, OF, 2027, North Paulding

Cade Cox, SS, 2026, North Paulding

Skyler Lee, 2026, C, North Paulding

Coe Puckett, C, 2027, Fellowship Christian

Key moments: The North Paulding offense got things going with a Skyler Lee double in the first. Then from there they just chipped away off a quality arm from Fellowship Christian. Fellowship had their chances, but the Wolfpack defense made multiple plays that would have scored runs by the Paladins. JR Hoffman had a solo home run in the 4th. Fellowship Christian battled back with an RBI double by Luke Stefl to make it 4-1. The Fellowship defense was led by Coe Puckett ending 2 innings on his own, one with a back pick at 1B and the other with a caught stealing at 2B. He would also help the offense out with a solo home run of his own. The Wolfpack would tack on a few more runs with a Cade Cox home run, and more barrels by JR Hoffman. One of the more impressive moments of the game was Walker Waggoner making a diving play in CF to steal an easy 2B away from Kellen Hoffman. Chance Williams really set the tone on the mound for North Paulding with 7 strike outs in 5 IP. James Sharpe battled a tough North Paulding line up that is just going to make him better headed into region play.

Hudson’ Takeaway: This was actually my first look at North Paulding this spring and it is safe to say that they have made their claim for the top team in the state. The depth throughout really stands out with so many pieces that can be plugged in both on the mound and at the dish. There are hitters 1-9 with no break for the opposing pitcher. They play sound defense led by Cade Cox at SS and are well coached with a great culture. I continue to enjoy watching this Fellowship line up with a great mix of uncommitted juniors and underclassmen throughout. They have a chance to really shake some things up in the Private classification this year.

Jones County @ Locust Grove

Score: Locust Grove win, 7-5

Standouts:

Ayden Elliott, OF, 2026, Locust Grove

Christian Colon, RHP, 2026, Locust Grove

Corbin Baird, SS, 2028, Locust Grove

Jonathan Scarbary, OF, 2026, Jones County

MJ Lane, C, 2027, Jones County

Micah Howard, OF, 2027, Jones County

Key moments: It was relatively quiet for both offenses as Locust Grove was able to scratch a pair of runs across to make it 2-0 after 5-innings played. Christian Colon had the Greyhounds guessing all night as he carried a no-hitter into the 6th. But a lead-off walk and a single from Trent Paulk would make the Wildcats turn to the bullpen. Timely knocks from a multitude of players including an RBI single from Micah Howard, a 2 RBI single from MJ Lane, and an RBI double from Jonathan Scarbary put the Greyhounds out front 5-2 heading to the bottom of the 6th. The Wildcats got the bats rolling with a huge 2 RBI base-hit from 2028 Corbin Baird to cut the deficit to 5-4 and took the lead on a huge 2 RBI hit from 2026 Ayden Elliott. Along with adding an insurance run by way of a SAC fly from Jamie Johnson. The Greyhounds could get nothing going in the 7th where the score ended in the Wildcats favor at 7-5.

Avery’s Takeaway: Locust Grove has been on a tear to open the season as they now extend their win streak to 13. It’s easy to see why as the Wolverines have a stout upperclass group on both sides of the ball. 1-9 in the lineup showed well along with Christian Colon putting together a dominant outing en route to a late comeback victory against in-region rivals. As far as Jones County they showed well in the late innings as they battled but fell just short. Key upperclass contributors are littered throughout the lineup as they aim to take revenge on Wednesday and split the series once they return home. Both of these teams look the part of playoff teams and we will want to check back in on later this Spring.
