EMERSON, GA - The best uncommitted event in the country wrapped up after a tremendous week with Future Games Week at LakePoint in Georgia. Teams from across the country will be showcasing their skills in front of college coaches from across the country.
The Team SoCal squad is composed of players from the southern portion of California. On day three of their time at the 2026 Future Games, the squad took on their in-state brethren, the Northern California squad, in an afternoon affair.

GAME THREE RECAP:
Over the first two days on the fields at LakePoint, the team from SoCal has made a strong statement about their abilities with several outstanding pitching performances and a bevy of offensive highlights to pick from. This was no different for the finale of the week for the squad as they picked up a resounding win over their in-state rivals Team NorCal, beyond several highlight moments at the plate and strong pitching from a foursome of California arms.
The LH bats of C/1B Quinn Melton and SS Tyce Johnson once again provided fireworks for the SoCal squad. Melton unloaded on a doubt home run well over the scoreboard in the RCF gap, which was his second one of the week and his third extra-base hit of the event to go with a walk. Johnson picked up his third hit of the week with another 100+ MPH ball in play when he laced a single into RCF, while also picking up a pair of walks on the day.

SS Kensen Johnson has had an exclamation-mark week in Georgia with a pair of extra-base hits of his own, highlighted by the no-doubt homer he blasted to straightaway CF well over the batter's eye. 3B/OF Oliver Dauskurdas picked up his second extra-base hit of the week with a missile double to RCF, while OF Dru Wilson added his second extra-base hit with a double of his own down the RF line.

SS Orion Gonzalez posted an extra-base hit of his own when he laced a rocket double into the RF corner, C Evan Skelskey claimed his third hit of the week with a double into the LF corner, and OF William Lynch, for good measure, picked up his third hit of the week with a double of his own. Rounding out the day at the plate for Team SoCal with hits were C Chase Miranda, who laced a single for an RBI while drawing a walk, and SS Ryan Sheffer, who got on the board with a double into the LCF gap.

On the mound, the arms of RHP Avery Pleeter, LHP CJ Gamradt, RHP Matthew Prior, and RHP Cash Wiltgen held the Norcal squad to just two runs on the day.
Pleeter held the NorCal squad scoreless in his inning of work against them with his 85-87 MPH showing heavy run and sink under the barrel of hitters to pick up three groundball outs while mixing in a short, tight breaking SLD at 73-76 MPH from a funky, low slot, crossfire delivery.

Next up was Gamradt, and the medium-sized southpaw showed impressive stuff with a knack for missing bats over his two innings of work, giving up just one run. His FB ran up to 88 while living at 84-87 MPH, missing bats at the top of the zone or above with the offering while snapping off a pair of quality breaking balls to miss bats with a devastating CHG that collected whiffs and soft contact when used.

Prior showed one of the easiest operations of any arm for Team SoCal, living at 88-91 MPH with his four-seam FB and burying an 85-87 MPH two-seam version that mixed with his short, tight SLD in the low 80s and a CHG with SPLT-like action that dove off the table in the low to mid 80s. All of this accomplished with as clean a delivery and quickness of an arm stroke as one would want to dream on with his lean, long-limbed frame to continue upticking his overall profile with maturity. Prior allowed just one hit, but the runner was retired on a caught stealing while facing the minimum six hitters over two innings of work.

Finally, Wiltgen closed the game for Team SoCal with one run allowed over two strong innings of work. With a longer arm path and quality arm speed, Wiltgen runs his FB up to 90 MPH and lives in the upper 80s, which has the ability to miss bats. He showed feel for his two breaking balls, with each having a distinct shape and willingness to throw them to both LH and RH hitters. Wiltgen punched out one and collected soft contact throughout his two innings.
