EMERSON, GA - The best uncommitted event in the country kicks off this week with Future Games Week at LakePoint in Georgia. Teams from across the country will be showcasing their skills in front of college coaches from across the country.
The Team SoCal squad is composed of players from the southern portion of California. In day two of their time at the 2026 Future Games the squad took on the South Texas squad in a afternoon affair.

GAME TWO RECAP:
Coming back to the fields of LakePoint after their nighttime matchup with North Texas, the SoCal squad faced down a talented team from South Texas in the afternoon. The bats of SoCal took another step forward after drilling the baseball against the arms of North Texas; they broke out with a loud 13 hit seven run performance against the arms from South Texas.
C/1B Quinn Melton continues to put up strong offensive looks for the college coaches in attendance as he crushed a 90 MPH FB the other way for a no-doubt homer to get the SoCal team on the board. It was Melton's second extra-base hit vs. 90+ MPH velocity while having reached base on three of his four trips to the plate.

That was not the only extra base hit amongst the 13 total hits for SoCal, as OF Oliver Dauskurdas would drill a hard line drive down the RF line for a standup double. OF Dru Wilson smoked an opposite-field gap double at 102.5 MPH that drove in two runs vs. an upper 80s FB.

SS Jacob Quintero, who has been a steady presence on defense over the two games, including making an outstanding double play snaring a line drive up the middle on a line drive picked up his first knock of the future games when he punched a single right back up the middle to drive in two runs.

SS Nate Godbold picked up his first knock of the Future Games when he turned around a sharp FB down the RF line for a single that put runners at first and third, which was promptly followed by OF Joel Vargas' first Future Games hit when he stung a line drive into the RCF gap for an RBI single.

The fivesome of OF Dane Disney, OF William Lynch, SS Tyce Johnson, C Evan Skelskey and SS Zion Avina continues to have strong Future Games at the plate, with each of them picking up hits or continuing to barrel the baseball over and over. Disney had two more knocks, using his elite run tool to create chaos; Lynch shows one of the more professional approaches on Team SoCal with plate discipline and barrel awareness. But that would be discounting the offensive skill set of Avina, who now has two hits with one of the hardest-hit balls of the week for the SoCal squad, with Johnson right there in the barrel party, having rocketed two balls over 100 MPH in game now. Skelskey now has two hits in two games, with both being hit in excess of 90+ MPH on the barrel.

On the mound, the shining star of the day for Team SoCal on the mound was RHP Jayden Singer, who tossed two dominant innings while showing feel for four pitches, a starter's profile, and more to come as he keeps maturing physically. Over his two innings, Singer showed off two FB shapes with a heavy arm-side running four-seam option at 88-91 that spins north of 2200 RPMs, while showing good feel for his 84-87 MPH two-seam variety that sinks with life below the barrel to induce soft ground ball contact. Behind his two FB shapes, Singer has a heavy tumbling 78-79 MPH CHG which he kills spin on and a steadily upward trending 72-75 MPH SLD with sweeper traits in the 2500+ RPM range. Over his two innings, Singer allowed one baserunner, who was quickly retired on a double play, and then went three up, three down in the second inning.
