17U National Championship: Scout Blog 

Joe Geesaman, 1B/3B, 2027, Jay County (IN)
Uncommitted. Geesaman found his stroke early in the tournament with a couple of scorching barrels in his first game. He went .500 on the day with 2 hits in 4 AB’s but showed he was able to make an in-game adjustment after his first 2 plate appearances. In his third AB, Geesaman simplified his approach at the dish in a 2k count, getting a hold of one and ripping it into LF for a 1B at 90+ EV. He was aggressive in his last AB and crushed an 0-1 pitch off the LF wall for a standup 2B with an EV of 97.6. The swing is consistent with the upper/lower half syncing up together and rhythm in the load. Geesaman’s swing is also short and produces repeatable PS juice w/ strength in the hands. There is also an impressive display of stature in the 6-foot-4, 200-pound frame with room for more. Geesaman has had a strong summer circuit and will be a N2 watch as he finishes his senior year at Jay County.

Ryland Montgomery, 3B/MIF, 2027, Pendleton Heights (IN)
Uncommitted. Montgomery came up big in all facets of the game on Wednesday morning. In that one game, he showed off all the five tools and how they are developing quickly while not fully armed yet. With a .500 BA, the 3B went 2 for 4 with 2 1B’s and drove in 1 in the meantime. In his 2nd AB, he worked the count and saw a lot of pitches including crushing a foul HR in the same AB. Later in the AB, he recognized spin out of the hand and drove it down the LF line showing pitch adjustability in the box. He had a LD RBI 1B in his later AB turning on it into LF. Montgomery has a big leg kick and stays on time for the heater with strength in the hands to make a statement at the plate. He shows athleticism in the field and showcased the run tool on the bases. For the final out of the game, Montgomery came up with a barehanded play from 3rd firing across his body displaying an ability to throw from different slots. Montgomery is an exciting player to watch in every aspect of the game and is going to have a big senior year. 

Owen Dominowski, OF/RHP, 2027, Bay City Western (MI)
Uncommitted. The #PBFG25 alum carried a hot bat with him on Thursday. While he was robbed of a 99.9 EV sharp base hit after the 3rd baseman made a spectacular pick, the clear juice is proven to be there in the barrel. Considering what happened to Dominowski in his 2nd AB, he trusted his approach working a full count and simplified with 2k’s, scorching a 95+ EV RBI 2B into LF. Dominowski’s swing is simple as he dances with the pitcher to get on time in his load and creates maximum separation when he unloads on impact. He has a big, twitchy hip coil allowing him to clear his lower half and throw his hands to the ball generating whippy bat speed. He is a +mover in the OF and gets good jumps on fly balls with his speed and agility. Dominowski is a dynamic ballplayer and has tools that a lot of schools would love to have as he finishes summer ball and is going into his senior year at Bay City Western.
