NORTHPORT, AL - The 2026 Yellowhammer State Games made its debut to River Run Park in Northport, AL, on June 16-17 for the third edition of the premier summer event on the Prep Baseball Alabama calendar. More than 210 of the state's top prospects from the 2027-2030 classes converged in Northport for two days of pro-style workouts and gameplay while competing alongside and against many of Alabama's top talents.

With Future Games, Junior Future Games, and other marquee summer events on the horizon, the Yellowhammer State Games once again served as one of the most important evaluation opportunities of the year for the Prep Baseball Alabama staff. The event featured high-level competition, loud statistical performances, and numerous prospects who further elevated their stock heading into the remainder of the summer.

The following Quick Hits article highlights several standout performers from the outfielder group with brief scouting notes and observations gathered throughout the event.

Brock Green OF / LHP / Northside, AL / 2028

Rankings  StateRank: 12

There may not have been a more impressive round of BP than the one Green put together, as he continuously pummeled baseballs with authority to the pull side and showcased some of the best present strength and budding power in Alabama's 2028 class. The 6-foot-4, 206-pound prospect possesses a strongly built frame and commands attention whenever he steps into the left-handed batter's box, carrying legitimate home run potential with every swing. Green utilizes a simple, quick load for timing and leads the barrel with real heaviness into contact, allowing the strength in the frame to create impact at a remarkably high level. He posted a peak exit velocity of 104.6 mph with multiple triple-digit exits during his round of BP. Perhaps even more impressive for a prospect with his physicality was a 6.81-second 60-yard dash. Green also offers intriguing two-way traits after operating in the low 80s and topping at 84.4 mph on the mound and remains a high-level follow for college coaches over the coming months and beyond.

Ross Christy OF / Fultondale, AL / 2029

Christy continues to look like one of the more tooled-up players in Alabama's 2029 class and appears to be on the cusp of another big summer heading into his sophomore year. A Junior Future Games alum from last summer, the 5-foot-10, 182-pound prospect possesses a strongly built frame with defined strength throughout. Offensively, Christy works from a balanced setup and utilizes an early stride before firing the barrel through the zone with explosive actions, quickness, and strength in the hands. He delivers the barrel on an uphill path and consistently hammered baseballs gap-to-gap during BP, producing low-90s exit velocities to all parts of the field with a peak of 95.9 mph. Christy also turned in one of the top athletic performances of the event with a 6.59-second 60-yard dash and remains a name college coaches should continue to become more familiar with over the next year.

Austin Kightlinger OF / Northside, AL / 2027

Kightlinger continues to build on a strong 2026 campaign following a breakout 2025 that saw him attend the Future Games and ultimately commit to Indiana last fall. The strength and athleticism in the 6-foot, 172-pound frame continue to show up in every aspect of his game, and the tools consistently translate in both workout and game settings. Offensively, Kightlinger works from an athletic setup with a leg kick and early hand movement in the load, allowing him to deliver the barrel on a pronounced uphill path with present barrel quickness. He repeats the swing exceptionally well and consistently impacts the baseball while also thriving with the gamer qualities that have become synonymous with his profile. Kightlinger ran a 6.59-second 60-yard dash and posted a peak exit velocity of 102.2 mph during BP. He elected not to throw during the workout but has previously worked up to 95 mph from the outfield earlier this summer.

Austin Barnett OF / Thompson, AL / 2027

Rankings  StateRank: 26

A Future Games alum from last summer and current UAB commit, Barnett continues to showcase one of the prettier left-handed swings in the state. The 6-foot-1, 209-pound prospect has added strength to an already strong frame, and it has translated into more impact in the barrel. Barnett features a loose, low-effort left-handed swing with the ability to use the entire field, though the best power currently plays to the pull side. He also showed quality swing decisions throughout gameplay and produced a couple of barrels against quality arms during the event. A corner outfield profile, the left-handed bat remains the carrying tool and continues to make him an intriguing offensive follow.

Cohen Walker OF / Vestavia Hills, AL / 2027

Rankings  StateRank: 58

Walker has quickly cemented himself as a name to know for college coaches this summer following a productive spring in which he hit at the top of the order for one of the state's premier lineups. The 5-foot-11, 176-pound prospect possesses an intriguing blend of tools and continued to showcase them throughout the event. Offensively, Walker hits from an upright setup with a wider hand set and creates quality extension out front while staying well connected throughout the swing and consistently finishing with two hands. He worked the baseball back through the middle of the field with a gap-to-gap approach and produced a peak exit velocity of 99.9 mph during BP. Walker also turned in one of the top athletic performances of the event with a blazing 6.44-second 60-yard dash to help compliment the impact in the offensive profile.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound prospect possesses a strongly built frame with a dynamic blend of strength and athleticism that shows up throughout the profile. Offensively, Bounds features a quick, compact right-handed swing and generates considerable impact through defined hand strength that allows the ball to jump off the barrel. Triple-digit exit velocities are quickly becoming the norm when he squares the baseball, and he once again produced loud contact throughout BP, posting a peak exit velocity of 102.9 mph. Bounds also led the event with a blazing 6.37-second 60-yard dash, further highlighting the impact tools that continue to make his profile one of the more intriguing in the state's senior class.

The right-right prospect brings plenty of athleticism and intangibles to the table and profiles well near the top of a lineup. Offensively, Money utilizes quiet pre-pitch movements and a controlled load that creates quality separation with the hands. He turns the barrel with quickness, firing a level path through the zone with present whip and flashes of power that have already shown up during his high school career. Money produced a peak exit velocity of 96.2 mph during BP while also running a 6.85-second 60-yard dash and showcasing plus arm strength by working up to 92 mph from the outfield. Although he was not originally scheduled to pitch, Money took the mound for a pair of innings and was thoroughly impressive, sitting 84-86 mph and topping at 87.2 mph while spinning the fastball north of 2300 RPM and averaging over 20 inches of induced vertical break, allowing it to play effectively at the top of the zone. He paired it with a low-70s breaking ball that consistently spun around 2600 RPM with hard vertical shape, giving him another intriguing dimension to an already impressive profile.

The 5-foot-11, 155-pound prospect possesses a lean, projectable frame with plenty of strength still to come, which should only continue to elevate the profile. Offensively, Thompson hits from an upright, narrow setup and works the barrel on a quick, compact path from the left side, showcasing some hitterish traits and the present hit tool that made an impact throughout the spring. He consistently drove the baseball to all fields with backspin and carry during BP and produced a peak exit velocity of 95.3 mph. Thompson also ran a 7.01-second 60-yard dash and showed intriguing two-way ability on the mound, operating in the low 80s with a fastball that carried through the zone while displaying feel for spin on a low-70s breaking ball and turning over the changeup effectively. The pitchability is already present, and additional velocity should come as he continues to physically mature.

Harville showcased one of the more advanced hit tools in Alabama's 2028 class and continued to show why the offensive profile is so intriguing. While the setup is somewhat unconventional, the 5-foot-11 outfielder makes it work exceptionally well. He operates from a narrow, open stance and works the barrel on a flat, level path, utilizing a controlled load to get back to square while keeping his weight positioned on the backside. Harville maintains quiet hands throughout the load and fires a very quick barrel through contact, repeatedly producing firm line drives to all parts of the field during BP. The athleticism and skill set appear to translate naturally into gameplay, where he projects as a top-of-the-order type hitter.
