Welcome to the ultimate proving ground for the future of baseball. The Future Games is the most highly anticipated event in the country hosted at LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA. Following the standout performances of the 2027 and 2028 classes, the spotlight now shifts to the true rising stars: the 2030 and 2031 graduates competing in the Junior Future Games. From July 23rd to the 26th, the best young talent in the nation is getting a rare early taste of the premier showcase environment.

For Team NC, featuring the top identified young players from North Carolina, the journey started Thursday with a pro-style workout, giving players the chance to update their numbers and gauge their skills vs. the best in the country. Navigating a rain delay that pushed their Friday matchup to Saturday against Team Texas, Team NC capped off an intense week with a grueling Sunday double-header against Kansas and Minnesota. With an astounding 495 college coaches passing through the gates this week, these young athletes aren't just playing games—they are setting the stage for their future on the nation’s biggest platform.

Team NC: Junior Future Games Recap

Following a weather-delayed start to the weekend, Team NC showcased solid defensive depth and high-upside arms throughout their three-game slate at the Junior Future Games. Below is a breakdown of the team's performance and notable player highlights from each matchup.

Game 1: Team NC falls to Team Texas, 4-1

Team NC opened the tournament against a formidable Team Texas squad. Despite frequent rotational changes, Team NC’s defense played a remarkably clean game, executing routine plays seamlessly. At the plate, however, the offense struggled against two highly touted Texas arms that touched 88 mph. While Team NC showed patience by drawing four walks and two hit-by-pitches, they ultimately succumbed to 11 strikeouts in the 4-1 loss.

Player Highlights:

• Beckett Slate (OF): Provided a spark in the 4th inning with a double over the left fielder’s head. Slate possesses an athletic, thin frame with solid bat speed and a flat swing that projects well as he adds strength.
• Patrick Melton (RHP): The physical right-hander worked two solid innings, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out three. He showcased a three-pitch mix from an over-the-top slot, sitting 78-81 mph and touching 83 mph.
• Landon Lowery (LHP): An advanced mover on the mound, Lowery worked two innings, striking out one while allowing two runs and four walks. His fastball sat 78-82 mph, touching 84 mph, generating chase with excellent ride when elevated.

Game 2: Team NC mounts late comeback to tie Kansas, 5-5

In their second matchup, Team NC faced off against one of the top 2030 arms from Kansas. The bats woke up early, taking a 3-2 lead in the 2nd inning behind singles from Canon Tyler, Landon Lowery, and Connor Ensley, plus a walk from Ryder Romano. Trailing 5-3 late in the game, Romano led off the 6th with a single and Lowery followed with a clutch RBI triple to left field. Lowery later scored on a wild pitch to secure a hard-fought 5-5 draw.

Player Highlights:

• Landon Lowery (1B/OF): Went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with exceptional barrel feel. Showed an advanced ability to recognize spin while timing up a premium fastball.
• Easton Tollison (RHP): Flashed dominant stuff, striking out five batters over 1.2 innings. Though he battled command issues (five walks, three runs), his 79-82 mph fastball created massive swing-and-miss both inside and above the strike zone.

Game 3: Team NC suffers walk-off loss to Team MN, 6-3

Team NC came out swinging in their finale, jumping to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning. Conner Ensley sparked the rally with a leadoff triple to the right-center gap. Easton Tollison, Patrick Melton, Jameson Stroud, and Cason King followed with consecutive singles, scoring three runs before the inning was "rolled" due to the hitter limit. Ultimately, the first eight North Carolina batters reached base safely. However, Minnesota's bullpen settled in, relying on high-level infield defense and strike-throwing to shut out Team NC for the remainder of the game before walking it off in the final frame as the time limit ran out on the boys from NC.

Player Highlights:

• Cason King (RHP): Delivered perhaps the cleanest outing of the weekend. King worked a flawless inning, striking out one without a walk. He showed an athletic, repeatable delivery with a quick arm, running his fastball up to 79 mph with excellent carry.
• Cruz Pahl (RHP): The lanky right-hander navigated out of trouble effectively, tossing two innings and giving up just one run on four hits and a walk. His fastball topped out at 78 mph.
• Langston Underwood (RHP): Paired a cutting fastball with a sharp breaking ball. Underwood pitched a highly efficient first inning before running into some trouble in his second frame.
• Cannon Tyler (RHP): An athletic mover on the bump, Tyler filled up the zone with a true three-pitch mix. His fastball lived comfortably in the 81-83 mph range.
