EMERSON, Ga. - The third Senior Future Games was another smash hit for the participants.

“Great Lakes had an awesome environment from the Ohio and Michigan staff all the way down to the players,” explained Montgomery Hart, a senior at Kingsmen Baseball Academy.

Those helping run the team had good things to say about it.

“It’s a really ‘profitable’ event from a college coaching/recruiting standpoint,” explained Pete Whitmer, Assistant Scouting Director for Prep Baseball Ohio. “You have the ability to find plenty of talent still in the 2027 class.”

The fact the players are entering their senior year of high school makes it a little different from finding players to fit a program from the 2028 class.

“They’re a little older now so you feel like it might be less of a risk since you’ve seen them longer and they’re more developed going into their final year of high school, fitting the ‘older’  trend in College Baseball,” noted Whitmer.

Josh Arce, Scouting Director for Canada, found interest to have increased in players of this age group.

“This year’s event had a slightly different feel regarding the attention on the players at the Senior Future Games level,” Arce pointed out. “I felt our Canadian squad had a sea of coaches watching our games, and in fact we just had our first Senior Future Gamer commit: Galen Hudel to Wright State.”

Three players from the Great Lakes squad representing Ohio and Michigan also have committed. Landon Vanetelli from Bellbrook has committed to Central Michigan, Langston Lucas of St. Edward to Akron and Carson Fuhrer of Moeller to Tulane.

“The Senior Future Games is such a beneficial event,” explained Dylan Hefflinger, Editor-in-Chief/Advanced Scout for Prep Baseball. “It provides an opportunity for players and schools to be seen that in past years would’ve already been committed, but with how recruiting has changed over the years, these talented prospects are still looking for the right home at the next level.”

With more than 500 coaches on hand, players were excited about the opportunity given to them to play in the Senior Future Games.

“Being able to meet new guys from different parts of Ohio and Michigan was a highlight for me,” said Logan Jenks, a senior at Clinton Massie. “We played together well and everyone picked each other up.”

Others found a lot to like about being part of the third-annual event.

“Being on the Great Lakes team was an awesome experience and very enjoyable,” noted Easton Williams of Wayland High School in Michigan. “I think I pitched well in my outing and accomplished what I wanted.”

Blake Brown was another that was happy to be part of the event.

“Being on Team Great Lakes was a great experience,” said the Gull Lake High School senior. “All the coaches and players were great, and it was a fun time.”

Maguire Bowles, of Vicksburg High School, is another pleased with how things went.

“Before the Senior Future Games I was in contact with Michigan college coaches at all levels,” the senior outfielder explained. “Since the event I’ve been getting contacts from smaller southern D-I schools like Davidson and Wofford.”

Adam Goodwin, Prep Baseball Scouting Director for the state of Michigan, summed it up.

“Another successful event on this end and it grows year after year,” Goodwin said. “The level of interest in Michigan is incredible.”

A Prep Baseball thank you to all that participated and a special thanks to the players on Team Great Lakes that gave their thoughts about the event:
