Future Games Recap: Team Hawai'i

The 2026 Prep Baseball Future Games gave Hawaii’s Class of 2028 prospects an opportunity to compete on the national stage at LakePoint Sports Complex in front of 495 college coaches.

Team Hawaii collected 26 hits across three games, highlighted by an 8-6 win over a talented Arizona roster. The group also produced several strong performances during the workout, with athleticism and offensive ability showing up and down the roster. This Hawaii group displayed the combination of raw talent, hard work and character needed to compete at the next level.

Below is a look at the Hawaii prospects who stood out during the week, combining their game production, workout results and video from the event.

Chase Kawakami

Kawakami was one of Hawaii’s most consistent bats, doubling in each of the first two games and finishing tied for the team lead with three RBIs. He repeatedly worked through the middle and opposite side of the field, including a two-run double against Nevada. Kawakami also ran a 6.93 60 and reached a 95 mph exit velocity during the workout. This is a name we have seen trend quickly over the past year, and can expect to see him trend in the right direction with his high respect personality and smooth, easy moving athleticism.

Daly Watson

Watson recorded a hit in all three games and tied for the team lead with three RBIs. He drove in two runs against Arizona and opened the scoring against Nevada with an RBI double, doing most of his work through the middle and right side. Watson added a 6.79 60, a 97 mph exit velocity and an 89 mph positional arm during the workout. Moves around the field effortlessly.

Devyn Lee Rosaga

Rosaga finished 3-for-6, highlighted by a 2-for-2 showing with a double and an RBI against Arizona. He found the barrel throughout the week and backed it up during the workout with a 93.5 mph average exit velocity, a 100 mph maximum and a 363-foot best distance. Rosaga also worked two innings against Utah, running his fastball up to 90 mph with spin above 2500 rpm. It was one of the loudest, if not the loudest, performances from Team Hawaii.

Kaiea Keliipuleole

Keliipuleole supplied Hawaii’s biggest swing of the week, jumping on the first pitch of the game against Arizona and sending a no-doubt shot over the left-field wall. The athletic outfielder also averaged 91 mph off the bat during the workout, reached 97 mph and produced a 373-foot best distance. Kaiea has true athletic ability and packs plenty of punch for his size.

AJ Wida

Wida entered the event as one of the top catchers in the class and showed a complete tool set throughout the week. He ran a 6.93 60, reached 100 mph off the bat and recorded pop times between 1.85-1.91 with an 80 mph arm. Wida also stayed within the strike zone, drawing two walks and reaching base four times while adding two runs, an RBI and two stolen bases. His ability to manage the game and remain level-headed at all times stands out for his class.

Eli Iopa

Iopa put together competitive at-bats throughout the event and showed the ability to make adjustments against quality arms. He reached base four times, led Hawaii with three runs scored and stole two bases, with most of his contact working through the middle and opposite side. While the raw metrics aren't off the charts, the ability to play his game and simplify things stood out in GA.

Kai Watanabe

Watanabe reached base in five of his eight plate appearances, collecting hits in each of the first two games and drawing three walks. His barrel feel and strike-zone awareness continued to stand out, while the workout included a 6.84 60, a 100 mph exit velocity and a 1.86-second best pop time. This is a must know name for August 1st.

Case Cannon

Cannon collected two hits in the win over Arizona, including an RBI single, and added a walk, a run and a stolen base during the week. The compact stroke and present strength also produced a 96 mph exit velocity during the workout, while his 90 mph infield throw was among the best on the roster. Cannon’s aggressive approach and strong work ethic make him a name to know in Hawaii’s 2028 class.

Noah Castillo

Castillo started the opening game against Arizona and finished with three strikeouts without issuing a walk. He worked at 87-88 mph with the fastball from a 4.8-foot release height, producing 2500-plus rpm with up to 18.8 inches of IVB and 21.2 inches of horizontal movement. The slider was sharp with late break at 2700-2800 rpm, giving him a quality two-pitch look with good spin traits.

Kekoa Payanal

Payanal recorded hits in each of Hawaii’s final two games and showed smooth actions in the middle of the field throughout the week. He averaged 92.1 mph off the bat, reached 100 mph and paired the offensive data with a 6.95 60 and a 90 mph infield velocity. Payanal is a top-150-ranked player in the 2028 class and a must-know name..

Brock Ayudan

Ayudan recorded hits against Arizona and Utah, reached on a hit by pitch and added a stolen base. His smooth left-handed stroke produced an 89.9 mph average exit velocity, a 96 mph maximum and a 360-foot best distance during the workout. The glove works effortlessly, and the hands translate to the plate with ease. Brock is a must-follow name in Hawaii’s 2028 class.

Kaeo Nouchi

Nouchi reached base three times and drove in Hawaii’s final run against Nevada with a single back through the middle. He produced some of the loudest workout contact on the roster, averaging 94.7 mph off the bat with a 101 mph maximum and a 370-foot best distance. Nouchi also recorded pop times between 1.90-1.98, rounding out a solid catching profile. His ability to take healthy hacks while keeping the approach simple, as shown below, stood out against the caliber of arms he faced at the Future Games.

Kaleb Panui

Panui delivered one of Hawaii’s biggest extra-base hits with a leadoff triple during the three-run fifth inning against Arizona. He was also one of the top athletes in the workout, running a 6.71 60 while averaging 94.7 mph off the bat and producing a 388-foot best distance. Panui carries a quiet confidence and a work-in-silence approach that should allow him to continue making the strides we have seen.

Austen Ahu

Ahu worked two innings against Utah and recorded two strikeouts. He showed occasional cut on his fastball and landed his curveball for strikes once he settled in. With a loose-moving, wiry frame, Ahu’s velocity should continue to jump as he adds strength and size. Generated some uncomfortable swings once he really got settled.

Blaze Kahale

Blaze was limited to batting practice at the Future Games but made the most of his time. He drove balls up to 371 feet and averaged 92 mph off the bat while using all parts of the field during the workout.
