PB Mid-South Open: Scout Blog 📓
+ 2027 1B Hudson Snell (TN) showed up big for Beast driving multiple balls into the gap for extra base hits. Hudson hits from a narrow stance with high hands that he delivers to contact with quick twitch showing off above average bat speed. Standing at 6’4 205 lbs, Hudson fits perfectly in the middle of the lineup as an RBI machine. The hitting approach is unique as Hudson does a tremendous job staying on plane and using both gaps, not letting himself get too pull happy. Hudson is one of the best uncommitted power hitters in the state of Tennessee in the 2027 class.
+ 2027 MIF Jacen Edwards (MS) was a hit machine in this tournament and went 3-3 with an RBI in the game we got to see him. Jace is a true leadoff hitter that hits with a long stride but keeps his hands back well and stays on plane. The approach is elite as Jace has a knack for fouling pitches off until he gets the pitch he can handle. Everything that he hits stays low and to the middle of the field. Defensively, Jace made multiple difficult plays look easy, he should stick in the middle of the field. Jace will be a steal for the school that snags him.
+ 2029 INF Jack Roper (MS) has been impressive in the last couple of weekends as the power presence in the middle of a strong EBC 15U lineup. Jack has definitely grown with a thicker build with more room to fill out. At the plate, Jack has a simple approach hitting from a wide base and keeps his balance well. In one of his ABs, the wider base helped him stay on a breaking ball away that he deposited into the oppo gap for a triple showing real strength hitting from a strong base. Defensively, Jack looks to be a corner infielder long term that will play well with his strong arm.
+ 2029 OF Easton Smith (MS) is a power bat that is just realizing his potential. Easton creates a good launch angle that allows him to lift balls easily to the pull side where he primarily stays. Hitting from a wider base as a lefty hitter, Easton has a simple setup that lets his path work well. Standing at 5’8 160 lbs, Easton has a lot of room to fill out and get stronger. In the outfield, Easton moves extremely well tracking balls with ease. Long term, the profile is a top of the order hitter with legit pop and one of the top players in the 2029 class in Mississippi.
+ 2026 OF Kolby Duncan (AR) has an impressive mix of power and speed that he showed off in this event. At the plate, Kolby hits from a wide base with high hands and a slight leg lift. The twitch is real and allows him to turn on velo with ease. Athletic, strong frame with a profile that lends to a top of the order hitter. In the outfield, Kolby roamed center field with ease tracking down multiple balls in the gap. Uncommitted position player that will make an immediate impact at the the program that he ends up at.
