South TX Rising Stars Games: Quick Hits

On Tuesday, June 2nd, the PB Texas staff traveled to Rice University in Houston, TX, to host the South TX Rising Stars Games, an invite-only event for 2030 & 2031 grads.

Players made their way to Rice and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.

We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting the top statistical performers. Today, we will provide our scouting takeaways on some of the prospects who stood out throughout the event.

Jonah Fernandez | SS | Legacy Ranch | 2031 | 4'9" 84
Young gamer with advanced feel for the position and smooth actions on the dirt. Shows quality footwork and glove action with accurate throws that carry good spin across the diamond. At the plate, works inside the baseball well with present bat to ball skill and a simple approach. High follow young INF with instincts, feel, and baseball actions that stand out for the age.

Adrian Hernandez | SS/RHP | Brazoswood | 2030 | 5'7" 125
Athletic mover with rangy defensive actions and speed that plays, posting a 6.95 sixty. Shows actions and footwork that translate in both the INF and OF, with arm strength up to 80 mph across the diamond and 84 mph from the OF. At the plate, the quick hands and compact swing stand out, producing exit velocities up to 91 mph. On the mound, works up to 79 mph with solid movement to the breaking ball, showing a repeatable delivery and strike throwing ability.

Chase Adam | 3B/RHP | Episcopal | 2031 | 6'1" 160
Projectable young two way player with a 6'1", 160 pound frame and some present strength for the age group. At the plate, shows pull side pop from the right side with exit velocities up to 90 mph. Defensively, profiles as a corner type with developing actions and some arm strength, showing 73 mph across the infield. On the mound, shows promise with the fastball sitting 77 to 78 mph and more velocity likely to come as he matures.

Easton Davey | OF/3B | Buda Johnson | 2030 | 5'10" 165
Plus runner with athletic actions and a strong foundation on both the dirt and in the OF, posting a 6.98 sixty. Defensively, moves well with feet and hands that work, showing present arm strength at 86 mph across the INF and 88 mph from the OF. At the plate, shows strength in the hands and barrel with upside in the frame and build. The bat path and approach are still developing, but the athleticism, arm strength, and physical projection make him an intriguing follow.

Andre Reyna | SS | Artie L. Henry Middle | 2031 | 5'2" 115
Young INF with solid instincts and a good feel for the position. Shows consistent footwork and angles on the dirt with present glove action and a quick release. At the plate, works from a flat barrel path with an up the middle approach. Gamer type with defensive feel, bat to ball traits, and actions that stand out for the age group.

Luc Wood | 1B/C/RHP | A&M Consolidated | 2030 | 6'0" 205
Physical, versatile defender with present strength and the ability to handle multiple spots. Behind the plate, shows soft hands, receives well, and has a quick exchange with 2.15 to 2.22 pop times, while the feet work around the bag at 1B. At the plate, shows bat speed and the strength to impact the baseball, producing exit velocities up to 98 mph. On the mound, shows upside with arm strength, an 81 to 83 mph fastball, and a quality slider with around -19 HM.

Keaton Bowman | 1B/OF | Homeschool | 2030 | 6'3" 210
Big, physical frame with present strength and the ability to produce solid contact at the plate. Shows middle of the order type upside with exit velocities up to 93 mph, and the hit approach should continue to improve with maturity. Defensively, the arm works with 80 mph velocity from the OF and 77 mph across the INF. Plays through the ball well with a quick exchange and accurate throws, giving him corner versatility with offensive upside.
