Team Select fell 12-5 to a strong Team North Carolina, despite showing well on both sides of the ball.

Select got on the board in the bottom of the first inning on a two RBI single from 1B Will Steffens (Barrington, IL), who took a 90 mph fastball through the right side for a single (98 mph EV) - plating OF Austin Ellis (North Hills, PA) and INF Beckett Hall (Platte County, MO) who both walked, making it 2-0 at the time.

Select would battle and push three across in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to a double from INF Karson Wiskur (Smith-Cotton, MO), followed by an RBI double from INF Griffin Robertson (Blue Springs South, MO). INF Ty White (Plainfield, IN) would follow suit with a two RBI single up the middle, making it 6-3 at the time.

RHP Finn Steiner (University High, IN) gave an intriguing look with a high-spin arsenal and clean operation on the mound. The fastball played around 86-87 mph with over 2,400 rpm, pairing with a sharp 10/4 slider with over 2,600 rpm, 73-76 mph.

One of the more intriguing looks of the day came from RHP Tyler Puffer (Montour, PA), who stands in at 6-foot-8, 205-pounds. He topped at 90 mph with the fastball, though he settled in more around 83-87 mph with over 2,500 rpm. He flashed the ability to spin the breaking ball with over 2,500 rpm at times, playing around 75-77 mph.

RHP Aiden Brokenshire (Mount Carmel, PA) attacked the zone with a fastball in the 86-88 mph range, pairing with an upper-70s slider as well as a high-spin curveball over 2,500 rpm at 73-75 mph.

LHP Dante Gianino (Gibault Catholic, IL) was the final arm for Select and he settled in nicely with a 1-2-3 second inning after a long first. The fastball played in the low-80s from a deceptive slot, topping at 83 mph. He also showed a changeup at 70-72 mph and upper-60s slider.
