2026 Kansas City Top Prospect Games: Quick Hits, 2029 Grads
July 13, 2026
On Tuesday, June 16th, the Prep Baseball Kansas staff traveled to Homefield Baseball Complex in Kansas City, KS to host the annual Kansas City Top Prospect Games. This event was open for 2027-2029 class members, selected by invite, and featured 119 players from Kansas and Missouri.
All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. Shortly after the event, our staff compiled several of the day’s stat leaders inside our traditional ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE.
Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s soon to be junior standouts below within these ‘Quick Hits’.
KANSAS FOLLOWS
Possessing physical size and projectable power from a strong 6-foot-3, 203-pound frame, 1B Conner Atkins (Central (Burden), 2029) put on a powerful display in his round of batting practice at Tuesday’s Kansas City Top Prospect Games. The soon to be sophomore swung a heavy barrel from the right side, turning in a high-end 97.2 mph peak exit velocity with a 87.1 mph average and a 348-foot peak distance. Atkins showed reliable movements defensively around the bag alongside an 80 mph infield velocity across the diamond.
Pumping a high-spin secondary mix out of a clean, low-effort delivery, RHP Bennett Bass (Olathe West, 2029) stood out on the hill as a high-follow arm in the state’s rising sophomore class. The athletic 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-hander displayed notable arm talent, commanding an 83–86 mph fastball that peaked at 87.5 mph with hard running action. Off that heater, Bass confidently landed a high-spin 68-72 mph curveball with a 2,696 rpm spin rate and up to -22.7” of horizontal movement that consistently missed barrels.
Throwing a firm three-pitch mix from a physical 6-foot-1, 178-pound frame, RHP Kael Fisher (Mill Valley, 2029) emerged as an intriguing follow on the mound in Tuesday’s look. Fisher operated down in the zone with a heavy 84-86 mph fastball that topped out at 87.7 mph with a sharp 2,263 rpm spin rate. He paired the heater with a fading 75-77 mph changeup that killed spin down to 1,914 rpm as well as a mid-to-upper-60s curveball and low-70s slider to profile as a starter down the road.

Dynamic twitch and a short, direct swing highlight the toolset of C Tucker Hupp (De Soto, 2029), who turned in an all-around strong performance in our latest look. A lean, athletic 5-foot-11, 158-pound backstop, Hupp put his advanced foot speed on full display by running a 6.87-second 60-yard dash. That straight-line burst translated directly behind the dish, where his quick transfers and clean actions allowed him to log 2.08-2.14 pop times down to second to go along with developing power at the plate in a 89.9 mph peak exit velocity.
Showcasing true two-way versatility from a well-proportioned 6-foot, 182-pound build, RHP/INF Remington John (Cherryvale, 2029) continues to trend up on both sides of the ball throughout our looks. John swung an athletic right-handed barrel that produced line drives with consistency, driving baseballs up to a 92.3 mph peak exit velocity during BP. His arm strength was evident on the mound, jumping on the bump to run his fastball up to an 83 mph peak with a 67-70 mph curveball that spun up to 2,274 rpm.
Imposing at a lean 6-foot-2, 185 pounds with room to grow, OF Jace Kennedy (Maize, 2029) put his high-level power/speed combination on display at the Kansas City Top Prospect Games. The athletic outfielder turned heads in the batter's box, generating real left-handed juice that peaked at a 95.7 mph exit velocity. Kennedy moves well for an underclassman of his stature, recording a 7.00-second 60-yard dash and a 3.90-second 30-yard split that promises much more to come as he continues to mature.
C Teddy Lubin (Shawnee Mission East, 2029) continues to solidify his stats as one of the state's top young bats. Coming off a spring where he made an immediate impact at the varsity level, the strong 5-foot-10, 193-pound catcher put on an absolute display during his round of batting practice, consistently elevating the ball to the pull side from a compact right-handed stroke. Lubin’s heavy barrel generated serious impact, creating a strong 96.7 mph peak exit velocity and 87.5 mph average. Behind the dish, his athletic lower half and quick exchange translated into accurate throws on the bag, posting a 72 mph arm velocity from the chute to pair with 2.01-2.09 pop times.

Flashing top-of-the-order potential, INF Garrett Nimz (Olathe East, 2029) put together a well-rounded showing in Tuesday’s Top Prospect Games. Standing at an athletic 5-foot-10, 178 pounds with some present strength, the right-handed hitter stayed on plane throughout his round of batting practice, peppering line drives at a 91.0 mph peak exit velocity with an 87.0 mph average. His upside is apparent on the infield, where he displays quick, smooth feet and reliable hands that allowed him to fire an 81 mph bullet across the dirt.
RHP Kellen Sears (Blue Valley Northwest, 2029) continues to trend upward as an easy arm to dream on after showcasing significant upside from a 6-foot-3, 157-pound frame. The smooth right-hander uses his extra-long levers well to produce effortless velocity from a clean delivery, running his fastball up to an 87.6 mph peak. Off that heater, Sears flashed advanced feel for a curveball/changeup mix that shows swing and miss potential. As he continues to mature, Sears will be a must see name in the Sunflower State's 2029 class.
