The spring update is arguably the most important and most in depth update of the year. Our staff has taken in more than 250 games this season and during the course of that time, we have gathered evaluations, provided updated scout blogs, updated pitching velos, discussed players on High & Tight, and spent hundreds of hours observing and scouting thousands of players in the state of Virginia & DC. With all of that time put in, we also do a complete overhaul of the entire database of profiles within each class. With the 2029 class our staff has combed and crosschecked more than 1100 profiles in the state to try and be as thorough as possible. The freshman class is certainly the hardest class to make adjustments with when you are coming out of the spring, because the large majority of freshmen are not contributing on varsity, making it difficult to see many players to adjust. The full schedule for the week is as follows: Rankings Risers, New Faces, Top 50, Overall Class Update, and Case for #1.
2029 Rankings Stories:

Today we look at the full Top 75 from the VA/DC Class of 2029. In this update we give a little insight into what we have seen from players inside the Top 10. We have included updated video and notes from the spring evaluation period. You can also see the entire Top 50 release, as well as Rankings Risers and New Faces that have entered the rankings during this update.
+ Some of the biggest news in this class comes in the form of a few exits. First one is Braiden Miller leaving the 2029 class, vacating the #1 spot, which has now been taken over by Braylon Rogers. Miller made the move up the 2028 class, where he settled inside of the Top 5 of that class. Next exit will be a future one, with Luca Briggs making the move to Saint Andrews School in Florida. Briggs will remain in this update, moving up to the #4 overall spot. Briggs will remain in VA/DC rankings until the late fall update, when he will move over to the Florida rankings.
+ One of the biggest standout features of this group is the size and physical nature. Eight of the top ten ranked players in this class come in at 6'+. As opposed to the 2028 class, this group seems a little more position focused for the time being, with the '28 group being much more arm heavy.
+ For right now, there are a couple at the top that have separated themselves a bit from what we saw this spring. Braylon Rogers and Ian Choi both offer some upside on the mound, which is where their future is the brightest, while Mason Miller is a young left handed hitter that is listed at 6-foot-3 and has shown flashes of impact. Rogers and Choi are both upper 80's arms. Rogers has shown maybe louder stuff in terms of pitch shapes, ability to miss bats, etc, but it is the pitchability, starter potential, and present floor for Choi that is intriguing.
+ There are a few talented athletes in this class, highlighted by DJ Lee II and Carter Alvis. Lee is a long rangy multi-sport athlete with some bounce and twitch that allows him to do some things that others his age cannot. Alvis started on the varsity level this spring and had some immediate success. He has parlayed that into the summer season and has flashed an above average defensive skillset in the infield. Alvis is the best defensive infielder that we have seen in this group thus far. Speaking of athletes. Braden Walton, for this class, has a near elite run tool. It is real footspeed and he can really cover ground laterally. His athleticism and strength give him a chance, long term, to stay up the middle of the field in some capacity.
+ Cooper Crabtree makes one of the biggest moves up in this class. While there are no big standout carrying tools currently, the hit tool and hitterish traits he portrays in the box are second to none in this group. He is a true competitor at the plate and just simply never looks unfazed, regardless of the arm he is facing.
+ The final thought on where we stand today with this class is that it is littered with positional guys and a little lighter on arms. While it is a touch lighter in the arms department, the arms that are there have a chance to be impact guys on the mound long term. There are seven arms in the Top 20 that have been 87+ early on, with some possessing more pitcher traits than others, but there is some pure arm strength in this group.
