The 2026 high school baseball season is underway and, as usual, excitement is present throughout Iowa. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across the Hawkeye State.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Cedar Rapids or Carroll at the IHSAA state tournaments, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to shine a spotlight on all teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Iowa.

+ Liberty’s Evan Schmierer went 5 for 6 in the double header with 4 singles, a triple, 2 RBI’s and 3 runs scored.
+ Kennedy’s Brady Dill collected 5 hits in 7 at bats between two games. 4 singles, a double and 5 RBI’s.
+ Denison-Schleswig’s Grant Fink threw 5 innings, gave up 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8.
+ Emmetburg’s Cooper Chizek did it both on offense and defense. He went 5 innings on the mound giving up 1 run on 3 walks and 3 hits while he struck out 10. At the plate he was 3 for 4 with 3 singles.
