Q&A with St. Louis Commit Craig Ringe

Eliott Wilk
Central Region Operations Director

INF Craig Ringe (Eureka) is one of the top infielders in the state, currently ranked No. 27 in Missouri’s senior class. Built at 6-foot-1, 210 pounds with strength throughout the frame, Ringe swings a strong right-handed barrel with balance and polish at the plate. A heady, high-IQ type of player, he consistently impacts the game by doing all of the little things right on the diamond. A member of Team Missouri at the 2024 Prep Baseball Future Games, Ringe announced his commitment to Saint Louis University last fall.

We recently had the chance to talk to Ringe about his recruitment process, along with some other fun topics, below.

Our Q&A

Prep Baseball: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Craig: I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I was really just looking for the opportunity to play at the next level no matter where or how.

PB: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

C: I really like the coaching staff and the facilities are very strong.

PB: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

C: Always have good body language because college recruiters are watching how you fail.

PB: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

C: Yes, because I like being close enough so my family can go to the games, but I also like feeling like I am on my own a bit.

PB: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

C: My junior year summer is when it really started to heat up. SLU first watched me play at Grand Park in Indianapolis.

PB: Was there a particular Prep Baseball tournament or showcase that helped accelerate your recruiting process? If yes, how so?

C: The Future Games really put me on the map just because of how many coaches are there.

PB: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

C: The University of Central Missouri and Dartmouth.

PB: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?

C: Eli Skidmore. He had a very good fastball and worked really fast on the mound.

PB: If you could steal any tool or quality from another player in the state, what would it be and who would it be from?

C: Levi Fieser's athleticism.

PB: Who is the next talented young player to keep an eye on out of your high school or travel program?

C: Tyler Sweeney

PB: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

C: My freshman year summer was when I started realizing I had a good chance.

PB: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

C: In a summer game last year, I hit a home run in my first at bat at SLU's field.
