Arizona Rising Stars Games: Quick Hits

Antonio Torres
Arizona Director

Mesa, AZ – The Arizona Rising Stars Games, one of the premier underclass events on the Prep Baseball Arizona calendar, brought together an impressive collection of 2030 and 2031 prospects from across the state. The event provided an early look at some of Arizona's top young talent as players continue their development toward the high school level.

Participants went through a pro style workout featuring batting practice captured by TrackMan and Blast Motion, athletic testing powered by VALD Performance, defensive evaluations, and bullpen sessions for pitchers. The technology driven environment allowed our staff to gather advanced data including exit velocity, bat speed, arm strength, pitch velocity, spin rates, and movement profiles while evaluating each player's overall skill set.

*Players arranged in no particular order*

Casey Price 2B / RHP / Liberty, AZ / 2030

Casey emerged as one of the top overall performers from the Arizona Rising Stars Games, putting together an impressive two way showing. Standing 5 foot 9, 171 pounds, the young ball player generated a loud 94 mph max exit velocity and a 347 foot max distance during batting practice, both among the top marks recorded at the event. He carried that athleticism onto the mound where he ran his fastball up to 81 mph while generating over 2,000 RPM of spin. The combination of present strength, athleticism and two way upside makes Price one of the more intriguing prospects in Arizona's 2030 class.

MJ Emmons SS / 2B / Desert Ridge, AZ / 2030

MJ delivered one of the most impressive offensive performances of the event regardless of class. The left handed hitter posted a 94 mph max exit velocity and drove balls up to 345 feet. His advanced barrel feel and ability to create impact from a smaller frame stood out throughout batting practice. As he continues adding strength over the next few years, Emmons has the traits of a player whose offensive profile could take significant jumps.

Elijah McGibiany 3B / OF / Basha, AZ / 2030

Elijah put together one of the more complete workouts of the event and found himself near the top of multiple leaderboards. Standing nearly 6 feet tall with a projectable frame, he generated a 92 mph max exit velocity with a 343 foot max distance during batting practice. Defensively, his arm strength showed up from both positions, recording 82 mph across the infield and 81 mph from the outfield. The blend of athleticism, strength and defensive versatility makes McGibiany a high follow prospect moving forward.

Hunter Babe C / RHP / Perry, AZ / 2030

Hunter established himself as one of the top catching prospects in attendance with an impressive all around showing behind the plate. The physical backstop recorded an 82 mph catcher velocity while consistently producing pop times between 1.99 and 2.05 seconds. His strength translated offensively as well, where he produced a 90 mph max exit velocity during batting practice. The defensive metrics paired with present offensive upside place Babe firmly among the top young catchers to know from the event.

One of the younger prospects in attendance, Jonah continued to show why he is regarded as one of the top young middle infielders in Arizona. Standing 5 foot 1, 111 pounds, the right handed hitter produced an 85 mph max exit velocity with a 269 foot max distance, impressive numbers for a member of the 2031 class. While the offensive metrics continue to trend upward, it is the defensive actions that separate Jonah from his peers. The hands work cleanly, the feet stay active, and he consistently plays the game with a high baseball IQ that allows him to maximize his tools. Jonah continues to prove that instincts, feel for the game, and polish can often outweigh physical stature, making him a player our staff will continue to follow closely over the coming years.

Cole Manley SS / RHP / Estrella Foothills, AZ / 2031

As of the younger standouts in attendance, Cole showcased legitimate two way upside throughout the event. The athletic infielder generated a 90 mph max exit velocity while also running his fastball up to 78 mph on the mound, one of the better velocity marks among the underclass group. JJ Hamm 1B / LHP / Williams Field, AZ / 2030

JJ showcased some of the louder offensive metrics among the event's two way players. The left handed hitter posted a 91 mph max exit velocity and a 349 foot max distance, one of the top distance marks of the day. On the mound, he showed feel for multiple pitches with his fastball reaching 74 mph. The offensive upside paired with a developing left handed arm makes Hamm a prospect worth monitoring closely over the coming years.

Justus stood out with one of the strongest outfield arms at the event, recording an impressive 84 mph outfield velocity. The athletic outfielder also produced an 88 mph max exit velocity during batting practice while showing present strength throughout his workout. Sipe is another young prospect whose game should continue trending upward as he gains experience.

Kaiden Wiler C / 3B / Desert Vista, AZ / 2030

Kaiden emerged as one of the more polished catching prospects in attendance thanks to his well rounded skill set. The switch hitter produced an 89 mph max exit velocity during batting practice and showed offensive feel from both sides of the plate. Behind the dish, he consistently recorded pop times between 2.06 and 2.18 seconds while displaying clean catch and throw actions. The athleticism and versatility provide a strong foundation as he continues developing physically.

Lorenzo Perry LHP / OF / Pinnacle, AZ / 2030

Lorenzo worked his fastball up to 75 mph while showing feel for a developing breaking ball. His present strength and physicality create an intriguing foundation for future growth on the mound. Perry is a player whose velocity could continue to climb as he refines his delivery and gains experience.

Brady Cook RHP / OF / Liberty, AZ / 2030

Brady impressed on the mound with some of the better pitch metrics recorded at the event. The right hander generated over 2,100 RPM of average fastball spin while running his fastball up to 75 mph. He complemented the fastball with both a slider and changeup, giving him an advanced three pitch foundation for his age.
