Quick Hits: 2026 New Orleans Summer ID

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

New Orleans, LA - On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the Prep Baseball Louisiana staff traveled to Tulane University, to host our third open event of the summer with our New Orleans Summer ID, which featured over 30 players in the state's 2027-2029 classes.  Each participant went through a pro-style workout that consisted of running a 60-yard dash, defensive evaluations, and batting practice using Trackman Baseball and Blast Motion.  Each pitcher threw a bullpen with Trackman Baseball running to receive all of their pitching data and metrics.  Below, we take a look at some of the top performers from Tuesday's event.

+ 2028 1B Brayden Todd (Evangel Christian)

A physically imposing presence at 6-foot, 220-pounds, Todd packs plenty of strength into the box and it shows up in his offensive profile. The right-handed hitter works with an uphill path and an intent to do damage, especially to the pull-side, where his power plays best. Todd consistently impacted the baseball at a high level during our look, producing a max exit velocity of 102.7 mph while averaging 94.4 mph off the bat. The power translated to game action this spring as well, as he slugged 10 home runs and drove in 39 runs for Evangel Christian Academy.

+ 2027 UTL Eli Landry (Hahnville)

Landry put together one of the more impressive all-around workouts of the day, posting personal bests across the board. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound outfielder starts from a simple, quiet setup and works with a short, efficient swing that stays flat through the zone, allowing him to consistently get the barrel to the baseball. He ran his exit velocity up to 97.5 mph and also showed improved athleticism, turning in a 6.83 sixty-yard dash. Defensively, Landry showed plenty of arm strength from the outfield as well, topping out at 92 mph on his throws.

+ 2028 LHP Abel Meyer (Chalmette)

Meyer proved that pitchability and command can be just as effective as pure velocity. The 6-foot, 195-pound southpaw worked exclusively from the stretch during our look and creates a unique angle with a low 4.2-foot release height that adds deception for hitters. He consistently kept the baseball at the bottom of the strike zone, moved it to both sides of the plate, and showed confidence in all four offerings while displaying feel for his entire repertoire. The approach translated to plenty of success this spring at Chalmette, as Meyer went 7-1 with a 1.25 ERA and 66 strikeouts across 56 innings for the Owls.

+ 2027 RHP Cruz Cambre (Riverside Academy)

Cambre turned in an intriguing look on the mound and continues to establish himself as an interesting follow in Louisiana's 2027 class. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound right-hander works with a longer arm swing and releases the baseball from a lower 4.6-foot release height, creating a different look for opposing hitters. His four-seam fastball showed slight cutting action through the zone and he paired it with a quality breaking ball that generated spin rates into the mid-2500s, highlighting his feel for spin. Add in a developing changeup and there's plenty to like about the uncommitted senior as he continues to mature physically and refine his arsenal.
