Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.

We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. No. 5 Triad defeated No. 18 Normal University by the score of 5-4 in extra innings. Nolan Keller (2026; Kaskaskia JC Commit) knocked in two RBIs for the Knights on his RBI groundout and sacrifice fly. He scored the winning run in the extra frame on a passed ball to walk it off. Keegan Seipp (2027; Xavier Commit) had a 3-for-4 day with two singles, a solo home run, and a hit by pitch. Matt Morris (2028) tossed 4.2 scoreless frames and punched out three while giving up a hit and three walks. For Normal University, their best player of the game was Myles Mitchell (2026), who knocked in three RBIs on his three-run homer. He went 2-for-4 with that home run along with a single and scoring a run. Isaiah Giganti had an outstanding relief performance by pitching two innings and striking out five of the nine batters he faced.

No. 6 Mount Carmel defeated Sandburg by the score of 6-3. Logan Fernandez (2026; Triton JC Commit) led the Carvan offense with two RBIs on his two-run double. The important hits came in the extra frame when Cullen Winters and Jonathan Osornio (2026; Cowley JC Commit) hit back-to-back RBI singles to give the Caravan the lead and the win. Ian Tosi (2026; Miami Commit) had a strong start by tossing six innings and striking out seven.

No. 12 Libertyville defeated No. 9 Lane Tech by the score of 2-1. Braden Tolzien (2026; Heartland CC Commit) led the Wildcats with both RBI knocks of the game. He hit RBI doubles in the first inning and then the fifth inning, which was enough to win the game. On the mound, Chase Lockwood (2026; Illinois State Commit) pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts and giving up a run.

#10 St. Joseph-Ogden 9

No. 10 St. Joseph-Ogden shut out Williamsville by the score of 9-0. Will Haley (2026; Kankakee CC Commit) and Bryson Houchens (2026; Morton JC Commit) led the way for the Spartans with six RBIs combined. Haley knocked in a two-RBI single and two sacrifice flies. Houchens had an RBI single and one sacrifice fly. On the mound, Parker Fitch pitched a complete-game three-hit shutout with eight punchouts and giving up three walks in 104 pitches.

East Peoria 8

East Peoria took down No. 14 Geneva in a Power 25 upset, winning by the score of 8-1. East Peoria had thirteen hits as a team, with five players having multi-hit performances in the Super Sectional win. Jackson Ahrens (2026; Northern Illinois) and Breyon Maroney (2026) hit out of the first two spots of the lineup, with each collecting three hits in the win with a run driven in. Auggie Lohnes (2026; Illinois Central JC) and Eli Martin (2029) each had two hits while collecting an extra base hit. Lohnes had a 2-for-4 showing out of the cleanup spot with a double, a walk and two driven in. Martin finished 2-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Roman Moody (2026) also reached base four times with two extra base hits in the win, going 2-for-2, logging a double and a triple, driving in a run, and scoring three times. Dalton Oakman (2026) got the start and allowed just four hits, one walk, one earned run and punched out two. With their win, East Peoria heads to Slammers Stadium in Joliet where they will take on St. Rita this Friday at 10:00 am in the 3A State Semifinals.

Naperville Central 4

Naperville Central took down No. 15 Minooka in a Power 25 upset, winning by the score of 4-2. Heading into the top of the sixth, Naperville Central was down 2-1, before Jermaine Kenady (2027) would drive in a run on a single, with another scoring via error on the play to take a 3-2 lead. The Redhawks would take advantage of a Fielders Choice to take a 4-2 lead, which they would hold on to en route to the Super Sectional win. Grant Umbright (2026; John A. Logan) reached base four times in the win, finishing the day 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Ryley Orlanes (2027) went 2-for-2 with a walk, also scoring a run, with the previously mentioned Jermaine Kenady also finishing with a two hit day with a run scored. Decker McDonald (2027) got the start and allowed one unearned run in his four innings of work, allowing three hits, three walks, and striking out four. Grant Umbright punched out four and allowed one run in over two innings of work, being tasked with the win. Naperville Central is set to take on Maine South at 4:00 pm this Friday at Slammers Stadium in the 4A State Semifinals.

No. 17 Tremont took down Armstrong, winning 9-1. Andrew Dawson (2026; Valpariso) had the strongest day at the plate for Tremont, finishing 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, scoring a run. Josh Papenhause (2026) drove in a pair of runs in a 1-for-3 showing, also walking once. Griffin Meeker (2026; Heartland CC) reached base three times out of the leadoff spot, finishing 1-for-2 with a triple, two walks, an RBI and three runs scored. Jordan Balsimo (2026) also came across to score three times in the win, going 1-for-2 with a double and a walk. Hunter Smith (2026; Monmouth) was nothing short of dominant in his six shutout innings of work, striking out twelve and allowing just two hits in his start. With their win, Tremont is set to take on Routt Catholic at Illinois Field in Champaign this Friday at 10:00 am in the 1A State Semifinals.

No. 23 Ottawa Marquette took down Brimfield by the score of 9-6. Alec Novotney (2026; Valparaiso) put together a 4-for-5 day at the plate with three RBIs and a run scored. Griffin Dobberstein (2027) and Caden Durdan (2027) each drove in a pair of runs, and each reached base three times in the game. Dobberstein finished the day 1-for-3 with two walks and tallying a double, with Durdan going 2-for-3 with two doubles, walking once, and scoring two runs. Grant Dose (2026; Morton JC) also finished with a pair of hits and came around to score twice, with Easton DeBernardi (2027) hitting a triple and also driving in a run en route to the win. Anthony Couch (2026; Spoon RIver) also got the start on the mound, going three innings, allowing two hits, three walks, two runs, and striking out four. With their win, Marquette heads to the 2A State finals, where they will take on St. Joseph-Ogden this Friday at 7:00 pm.
