As the WIAA regular season begins to wind down, we’re kicking off another round of rankings updates with the state’s 2027 class. After a busy spring filled with live looks across Wisconsin, this update brings plenty of movement throughout the board while also expanding the rankings with 25 new names.

The spring season offered another valuable checkpoint for this group, giving our staff extended looks at how players continue to develop physically while translating their tools into game performance against quality competition. With summer now approaching, this update reflects the progress, upside, and overall depth we’ve seen from the class over the past several months.

Headlined by a new No. 1 prospect in the state, Wisconsin’s top tier continues to gain traction nationally, with multiple names making sizable jumps inside the national rankings and several more firmly in the mix just outside the top-250. Read below as we break down the updated top-15 and the key storylines surrounding this latest release.

NEW NUMBER 1

Ira Hilbelink OF / SS / Cedar Grove-Belgium, WI / 2027

Minnesota commit; a complete performer with tools across his profile while looking the part of a potential asset across all three outfield spots at the next level. Strong right-handed hitter with advanced feel to hit followed with consistent results and production to pair. The tools also stand out, 6.69-runner with a motor in game, 97 mph outfield velo, with advanced batted ball data for his age and bat speed. Also an effective arm with feel to locate, the fastball works in the low-90s with two upside secondaries, sharp two-plane action and a running changeup off of it.

THE TOP-5

Kyle Rogosienski SS / 3B / Muskego, WI / 2027

Vanderbilt commit; is trending to be one of the top athletes across the entire class, with a likely future at sticking to a premium position up the middle of the field. Another toolsy prospect, 6.59-runner with an above average or even better arm across the diamond. There’s also more impact than you’d predict from the left-handed swing with still a ceiling at the plate to be reached while routinely taking mature and competitive at-bats.

Cooper Schaefgen 3B / RHP / Oconomowoc, WI / 2027

Louisville commit; has been arguably the top hitter in the class since the inception of our rankings. Loud history and has looked the part against some of the top arms that have come through the state in recent years, including former draft picks. The tools have continued to trend up each year as well, 6.76-runner with a strong enough arm for the left-side and the power has continued to tick up as well, not just raw EVs but the quality of contact and extra-base hits have translated over as well this spring. Clean defender in the infield with a chance to stick at third at the next level. The bat however is the carrying tool and there’s a chance for a real hit-tool to develop and the impact has caught up to the hit and creates an exciting middle of the order profile.

Chace Staude OF / SS / Kettle Moraine, WI / 2027

Notre Dame commit; twitchy athlete with a ceiling physically, gamer that can really go and get it in center field. Twitchy left-handed swing with sneaky pop and feel to lift and there’s a ceiling yet to tap into.

Logan Hagman C / OF / Hudson, WI / 2027

Minnesota commit; has performed as a top bat in the state regardless of class since he began his prep career. The tools and impact have ticked up, not only top end but the feel to repeat has ticked up showing a quieter setup this spring. Defensively he’s an upside defender that has flashed catch-and-throw traits, and he’s athletic with physical strength.

TOP-10 PITCHERS

+ RHP Jacob Coisman (Luxemburg-Casco) Cincinnati commit; athlete, frame stands out on the mound and he’s consistently shown feel to repeat his delivery. Feel to both spin and kill spin and the fastball jumps out of hand around the 88-92 mph bucket with more to come, flashing carry at times and the slider has looked like; even performed as a legit swing-and-miss pitch at times. The splitter he debuted in the winter profiles as a usable third pitch and even flashed feel to locate to his armside.

+ LHP Cal Schneider (New Berlin Eisenhower) Louisville commit; has been one of the top “pitchers” regardless of class and the stuff has continued to tick up, in shape and velo. It’s a starters look from the left-side with a clean delivery and an immense ceiling left to tap into and more velocity on the way.

+ RHP Dylan Schreiber (Waukesha West) Purdue commit; physically stands out of the mound at 6-foot-7 with a quick sidearm delivery that approaches hitters at a unique angle. There’s feel for three pitches that all have upside and he hasn’t touched the surface yet from a velocity perspective.

+ LHP Mason Horn (Purdue) Purdue commit; athletic pitchability left-hander and the stuff has continued to come along as well as the consistent results. There's feel to locate three pitches in the zone and confidence to throw each any both handed batters.

RISERS

+ INF Brady Helms (Hartford Union) Penn State commit; the bat is the carrying tool, however the frame and athleticism has been steadily ticking up as well. Easy, repeatable right-handed swing that rarely swings-and-misses in our looks while taking consistent strong at-bats at the plate. Steady defender in the infield with a ceiling of providing capable defense at either third or second base.

+ OF/LHP Kingston Grisolono (Kewaskum) Evansville commit; physical left/left two-way with tools. A 6.83-runner with an average or better arm already and the batted ball data is advanced. The quality of contact in game stands out, getting consistent A swings off and is an overall aggressive hitter at the plate. Also an upper-80s left-hander with feel to spin and to land a firm breaking ball in the zone.

+ MIF Cooper Sievert (Wisconsin Lutheran) West Virginia commit; a gamer at shortstop that continues to make a number of high-end rangy plays at shortstop in our looks. Natural and fluid defender with more than enough arm to stick at shortstop long term. Clean right-handed swing and has performed consistently against velocity and spin in front of our staff while getting to more impact this spring.

ROUNDING OUT THE TOP-15

+ C Jack Spielmann (Milton) West Virginia commit; looks the part at a trim 6-foot-1 frame with a physical ceiling. Twitchy left-handed swing with a history putting the bat on the ball at high-rate, the impact has continued to come as he has filled into his frame. Defensively a capable defender behind the dish with steady catch and throw traits.

+ C Grady Cheever (Germantown) Toledo commit; a true switch hitter with a ceiling at both sides of the plate. Lean 6-foot-1 frame with a physical ceiling, the defense stands out in flashes behind the plate with glimpses of an advanced catch-and-throw tool.

+ RHP Chase Wolter (Whitefish Bay) Illinois-Chicago commit; a physical athlete, QB1 in the fall, with feel to spin while being utilized as an everyday shortstop and middle of the order bat. The fastball misses bats in the zone no matter the velo, playing clean out of the hand carry and life. There’s feel to spin a upper-70s slider and a heavy fading changeup that plays against both handed batters.
