Starting on Opening Day, our scouts will be out covering the 2026 season, publishing scout notes and additional in-season content along the way, like Power Rankings updates, Player of the Week awards, and weekly top performers included inside Diamond Notes.

Each week during the high school season, we will provide a Hitter and Pitcher of the Week. All nominations are submitted by their high school coaches.

WEEK 4 | MAT MATEJKA, 2027, DOVER-EYOTA

Dover-Eyota’s Mat Matejka didn’t leave much room for debate after a week that showed up in every phase of the game. At the plate, he went 9-for-13 with 3 doubles, 3 home runs, 7 RBI, 7 runs scored, and 3 stolen bases, posting a .750 OBP and a 1.615 slugging percentage. Then he took the ball and authored a complete-game shutout, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 10. He’s now hitting 0.512 on the season, and even that number feels understated after this kind of week.
