As we have for the past few years, each week we will be highlighting the staff's pick for the VA/DC High School Player of the Week. Each selection is made from a game that a staff member was at the previous week. While last week, due to spring break in a few places, was a bit lighter in terms of total game count, it was not light in terms of big output from players. Take a look at who brings home the Week 5 Player(s) of the Week.
VA/DC Co-Player of the Week: Jake Gunning
The William & Mary commit had himself a night on Friday versus Top 15 ranked Western Branch. Gunning hit two homeruns, accounting for two of the three total runs and RBIs for the Hawks. Gunning now has eight total homeruns on the season and holds a 1.265 OPS. The Highland power bat has combined for 50 RBI/Runs so far this season and is on pace to surpass 75 combined RBI/Runs this season.
