Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. RBI hits came from Tristan Steger (2027; Kentucky Commit, sacrifice fly), Sean Popp (2026; Oakton CC Commit, RBI groundout), Orlando Vazquez (2026; RBI single), and Daniel Coyle (2026; Lewis Commit, RBI groundout). Danny Donovan (2026; Wisconsin-Parkside commit) added a run scored while going 2-for-3. Samuel Chin (2026; Ball State Commit) pitched five strong innings striking out four, giving up only a hit & run, and qualified for the win. Cory Les (2026; Louisville, 2IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 2SO) came in relief and finished the game by recording a six-out save without giving up a run.

Other contibutors include TJ McQuillan (2026; Wake Forest Commit, 2-for-2, 2 1B, BB, 3R, RBI), Logan Fernandez (2026; Triton JC Commit, 1-for-2, 3B, HBP, R, RBI), and Mario Medina (2026; Davenport Commit, 1-for-2, 2B, R, RBI). Cylis Rainey (2029) dominated on the hill by completing a four-inning one-hit shutout and striking out nine batters.

Mark Atwood (2027) came in relief and pitched a frame where he struck out one and gave up a walk, unearned run, and no hits. Tommy Mitchell (2026) tossed two scoreless innings striking out one and allowing only a hit and walk.

Griffin Dobberstein threw the last three frames without allowing a hit, walk, and run, and struck out six of the ten batters he faced.

Eight Different Pioneers collected at least one hit on the day, also going a perfect 10-for-10 in stolen bases. With the win, the Pioneers are now 6-2 on the year and 2-0 in conference.
