Jimmey Sequin threw 5 scoreless innings in the win over Brother Rice. The third ranked sophomore in Michigan, Sequin stuck out 5 and allowed 2 hits needing just 59 pitches to complete 5 frames.

“We played about as well as possible the first two games, considering we had only two full practices outside the first three weeks,” noted Bay City Western head coach Tim McDonald.

Meanwhile, Spring Lake made fast work of Holland Christian in three five-inning wins, with victories coming 11-0, 10-0 and 19-3.

“We were 30-4 last year and have won 51 of our past 57 games,” pointed out Spring Lake head coach Bill Core, whose squad is the No. 12 team in Division 2 in the preseason Prep Baseball rankings. “We have 11 returning seniors and five committed college players.”
