National Player of the Week: 3/16 to 3/22

By Andy Sroka
National Managing Editor, Scouting

Today, we’re announcing our fourth National Player of the Week of the 2026 campaign, as just about the entire country is off and running this spring.

The following players were submitted by their coaches to our state directors and they went on to earn the Player or Pitcher of the Week award in those states. From there, we sifted through the country’s POTWs and selected the top performer among them, singling them out as the sole National Player of the Week. If you’re a coach interested in submitting a nomination this season but have not yet received that form so far this spring, visit our staff directory to find the contact information for the state director overseeing your state’s season coverage.

Our staff took player stat lines from the week of March 16 to 22 into account when determining these awards.

🏆 NATIONAL POTW

Hunter Elmore 1B / American Christian Academy, AL / 2028

“The No. 2-ranked player in the Alabama '28 class (and No. 49 nationally) turned in an elite offensive performance last week, going 10-for-14 (.714) with two home runs, one triple, and four doubles. He drove in nine runs, scored eight times, and reached base via walk nine times while not striking out once across the week.”

David Sharp, Deep South Supervisor

STATE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Arizona

+ Evan Hedlund, LHP (Casteel HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“Casteel sophomore Evan Hedlund turned in a standout performance this week, earning Pitcher of the Week honors after a dominant outing against Queen Creek. The young lefty worked 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out seven to secure the win over a team that produced over 40 runs during this past week. Hedlund showed advanced feel and poise beyond his years, controlling the tempo throughout and keeping hitters off balance with a well mixed three pitch arsenal. The fastball worked in the mid-80s with feel for the zone, while the changeup stood out as a true weapon, playing off the heater with depth and generating weak contact.

Hedlund continues to trend up as one of the more intriguing young arms in the state with a polished, controlled look on the mound.”

(2/12/26)

+ Frank Gearhart, 1B (Queen Creek HS, 2026) | Cal State Northridge:
“Queen Creek’s Frank Gearhart earns Hitter of the Week honors after a loud, power-driven stretch at the plate since his return. The CSUN commit consistently delivered impact swings throughout the week, showcasing his ability to do damage in the middle of the lineup. Gearhart left the yard twice while adding multiple extra-base hits, showing his ability to drive the baseball with authority to all parts of the field. The physical left-handed hitter continues to show a clean, efficient operation with strength that translates in game, producing runs in bunches and providing a consistent middle of the order presence. In total, he was 5-for-9 with two homers, two doubles, with nine RBIs and four runs scored.”

Antonio Torres, Arizona Scouting Director

Arkansas

+ Brody Brown, 3B/RHP (Mountain Home HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“Across three games during Week Three play, Brown pitched four shutout innings and K'd 10 batters total in addition to an impressive week offensively. At the plate, he continued his dominant performance by going 7-for-11 with eight RBIs, helping his team roll to a 3-0 week. Outstanding job by Brown as he continues to improve and elevate his game to another level.”

Mikel Howell, Arkansas Asst. Director

(2/25/26)

California

+ Jake Brande, RHP (Rancho Christian HS, 2026) | Cal Poly:
“Coming off a week that saw Brande throw a perfect game in his last outing, it was going to be hard to top that, but Brande came oh so close.

In his second league start Brande carried a perfect game into the fifth inning before surrendering a two-out hit as Rancho Christian would go on to win the game in mercy rule fashion in five innings with Brande locking up his second consecutive shutout victory.

The Cal Poly signee was once again masterful going 5.0 IP with eight strikeouts, no walks, and just the one hit surrendered. In his two league starts (both five inning mercy wins), Brande has totalled 15 strikeouts against zero walks and is sporting a 0.00 ERA. On the season he has thrown 15 innings with 25 strikeouts, one walk, one earned run good for a 0.47 ERA. He has a 72% strike percentage on the season.”

+ Jhett Ohira, OF (St. John Bosco HS, 2026) | USC:
“Starting in centerfield for the No. 1 high school baseball team in the country, Ohira is off to a sensational start as the Braves have marched out to a 7-0 record in the early goings of the season.

In a three-game series against Trinity League rival JSerra last week, Ohira was at his very best in helping the Braves earn the sweep and maintain their two year stranglehold on the best league in America. Ohira finished 7-for-9 in the series that included a home run, a pair of walks, four runs scored, and eight runs batted in.

The senior USC signee has been on fire for the Braves since the first game. Through seven games, Ohira is hitting an eye opening .524 (11-for-21) with a team leading 11 RBIs. He is slashing .524/.577/.667 and carries an OPS of 1.244 and has three walks.”

Les Lukach, California Scouting Director

Colorado

+ Gunnar Garrison, RHP (Eaton HS, 2026) | Arizona State:
“Garrison was an easy choice for this week’s state Player of the Week award after piling up 25 strikeouts over 11 innings, allowing just one earned run on one walk and four hits. His first outing came against the defending 4A state champion Golden Demons, where he struck out 11 over five innings while running the fastball up to 96 mph with our scouting staff in attendance. He also carried a no-hitter through four innings in that game.

Garrison followed it up with another dominant performance against Lamar, tossing six innings with 14 strikeouts, no runs, no walks, and just two hits allowed. The 2024 Future Games alum is one to watch closely this spring, as his developing velocity could continue to boost his 2026 draft stock. He’s consistently shown a high level of competitiveness on the mound, backed by an evolving arsenal that features a high-velocity fastball (2,600 rpm), a swing-and-miss slider (2,500 rpm), and a deceptive splitter he continues to gain feel for. Garrison has a commitment to Arizona State in his back pocket as well.”

Caleb Dameron, Colorado Assistant Director

(Super 60; 2/1/26)

Florida

+ Ethan Jackson, SS (Eustis HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“Jackson was a catalyst for his offense, putting together a massive week at the plate to earn Florida's Hitter of the Week honors. The sophomore consistently delivered in big moments, showcasing an advanced approach and the ability to drive in runs in bunches. Jackson was a tough out all week, going a stellar 7-for-15. He proved to be a premier run-producing threat, racking up eight RBIs while also accounting for two runs scored. Flashing excellent extra-base power, the talented middle infielder collected two doubles and blasted one home run to cap off his award-winning performance.”

(10/11/25)

+ Samir Mohammed, RHP (Jesuit HS, 2027) | LSU:
“LSU commit Samir Mohammed showcased incredible versatility and elite mound presence this past week, capturing Pitcher of the Week honors with two dominant appearances.

The 2027 right-hander proved he can handle high-leverage situations in any role, seamlessly transitioning from a lockdown closer to an overpowering starter in the span of just a few days. Mohammed's stellar week began on Tuesday, where he slammed the door by tossing a scoreless inning of relief to close out a win over IMG Academy. He returned to the hill on Friday in a starting role, firing six shutout innings to complete a spectacular two-outing stretch. Across his combined seven innings pitched, he surrendered just two hits and issued a single walk, with zero runs allowed. He was dominant as he racked up 15 strikeouts over the course of the week.”

Rocco Iervasi, Florida Director of Operations

(3/11/26)

Illinois

+ Caleb Hornbrook, C (Normal University HS, 2026) | Lake Land JC:
“Hornbrook finished opening week in Illinois at a 9-for-10 clip, recording 11 RBIs along the way with a home run, triple and two doubles. He also helped his Normal U-High squad get off to a 4-0 start to the season.”

(3/20/26)

+ Nick Bailey, RHP (New Trier HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Bailey dominated the No. 12-ranked team on Illinois' Power 25 to earn the win at our Kickoff Classic, firing 5.2 innings with just one hit, no runs and 12 strikeouts – taking a no-hitter into the fifth inning. It was the first time we had ever seen Bailey, and he firmly established himself as one of the top uncommitted arms remaining in the state with a fastball up to 89 mph and sharp slider to pair.”

Peter Hamot, Illinois Asst. Scouting Director

(3/21/26)

Kansas

+ Quincy Koehn, RHP (Maize HS, 2027) | Kansas:
“Koehn lead No. 7 Maize to a 1-0 victory over the No. 4-ranked team in Oklahoma, Stillwater, completely dominating one of the most potent offenses in the state in his first start of the season. The 6-foot-5, 232-pound lefty tossed a complete game no-hitter, striking out 15 and walking only one in one of the most impressive pitching performances we may see all year.”

Eliott Wilk, Central Region Operations Director

(3/20/26)

Louisiana

+ Dominic Pellegrin, SS (Holy Cross HS, 2026) | Tulane:
“The Tulane recruit was red-hot at the plate last week for the Tigers. In three games, Pellegrin went 7-for-8 (.875) with three home runs, eight runs batted in, seven runs scored, and also swiped two bases. One of his home runs was a big one last Tuesday against district foe John Curtis Christian. With Holy Cross down 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Pellegrin belted a solo home run to left field to tie the game and the Tigers would go on to win by a score of 4-3.”

Alex Armand, Louisiana State Director

(3/17/26)

Maryland

+ Colin Harrison, LHP/1B (Mount St. Joseph HS, 2026) | West Virginia:
“Colin Harrison stands atop all Maryland performances from this past week with a great week at the plate and on the mound. The senior hit .555 on the week, homering in their first conference game on Tuesday against Loyola Blakefield. On Friday, needing a win to secure the series win, Harrison started and tossed four scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out three to guide the Gaels to victory.”

Jamie Naill, Maryland Scouting Director

(3/18/26)

Mississippi

+ Jaxon Herod, SS (West Union HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“Herod put together a dominant week at the plate, solidifying his status as one of the top prospects in the Mississippi '28 class. The highly regarded underclassman went 7-for-14 (.500) with two home runs, a triple, a double, and three singles, driving in an impressive 13 runs while scoring six times. He also showed discipline at the plate with two walks, consistently impacting the game in the middle of the lineup and leading West Union’s offensive surge.”

(2/9/26)

+ Kolby Stringer, RHP (West Marion HS, 2026) | Pearl River JC:
“A Pearl River JC recruit, Stringer continues to dominate on the mound and currently leads the state in strikeouts. The right-hander turned in one of the most impressive outings of the week, tossing a complete-game gem in a 1-0 win over 3A No. 1 Presbyterian Christian. Stringer went six shutout innings, allowing just four hits while racking up 15 strikeouts and walking four, overpowering hitters and delivering in a big-time matchup. Stringer's outing this past week earns him the state's Pitcher of the Week award for the second time this spring.”

Matt Miller, Mississippi State Director

Nevada

+ Andruw Giles, OF (Basic Academy HS, 2026) | Oregon:
“Giles turned in a massive performance this past week, serving as the offensive heartbeat for the Wolves during the prestigious Boras Classic. Giles was a model of consistency and power, highlighted by an electric outing on March 20 against Riverton, where he went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Over the four-game stretch, Giles tallied nine total hits and showcased his ability to drive the ball into the gaps against high-level pitching from Arizona and Colorado, effectively cementing his place as a top-tier run producer in Nevada's Class 5A.

Beyond his power, Giles’ discipline and versatility have been on full display. He consistently reached base in every contest this week, including a 2-for-4 performance with a double against Millennium and a 2-for-3 showing against Hamilton. His ability to impact the game with his legs, combined with his defensive reliability in center field, has made him an indispensable asset for the Wolves as they navigate a challenging spring schedule.”

+ Nathan Mayorga, RHP (Sierra Vista HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Mayorga etched his name into the record books on March 18, delivering a flawless performance in a 9-0 victory over Moapa Valley. Mayorga was the definition of efficiency and dominance, retiring all 21 batters he faced for a seven-inning perfect game. He needed only 72 pitches (52 strikes) to handle the Pirates' lineup, racking up seven strikeouts and allowing zero baserunners. It was a masterclass in command and poise, as Mayorga didn't reach a single three-ball count against any of the 21 batters faced.

Outside of one outlier appearance, he has been nearly unhittable, highlighted by a seven-inning, 11-strikeout gem against Carson earlier this month. With two complete-game shutouts already on his resume this season, Mayorga has established himself as one of the premier arms in Nevada, consistently leading the Mountain Lions to victory.”

Brett Harrison, West Coast Supervisor

(2/18/26)

North Carolina

+ Derek Vazquez, SS (Charlotte Christian HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“Vazquez takes home the North Carolina Player of the Week honors after a stellar six-game stretch at the Lancer Classic Championship in Arizona. The shortstop was 10-for-14 at the dish with a pair of doubles and three homers and produced 10 RBIs and nine runs scored, as he paced the Knights to a 6-0 record on their trip out west. Outstanding job by Vazquez to represent Charlotte Christian and the entire Tar Heel State on a big stage.”

+ Parker Williams, RHP (North Lincoln HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“Parker Williams turned in a strong start last week for North Lincoln, going seven strong with 11 punch-outs, allowing no runs on no hits with three walks. Prep Baseball staff was in attendance for this gem as the right hander was up to 90 mph in a good matchup.”

Here's our scouting report from that day:

“... 6-foot, 165 pounds. Efficient mover. Loose hips. Arm has tremendous whip, creating some deception on the fastball and change-up. Athletic over the rubber. First base side with a slight side saddle setup. Simple rocker and turn. Lift to the mid-chest. Level and on-line, lands just across his line with a square foot-strike. Long arm swing. Athletic and very quick through a high-3/4 slot. Excellent arm speed. Fastball created swing and miss in the zone and some chase when elevated. Fastball jumped on hitters, giving them issues throughout the night with timing. Fastball at 88-90 in the first two innings, settling at 85-88 and still touching 89 in the 6th. Spin ranged 2350-2450rpm. Slows the arm a bit on the change-up. Early run and fade at 80-82. Breaking ball ranged 71-74, 2000rpm. Bumps out of the hand. Early downer action with good depth through the zone. Arm speed was not quite as explosive as the fastball. Punched 11 in a 7 inning no-hitter. Threw 88 pitches, 53 for strikes (60%). Good feel for 'bigger' moments, making several pitches to close innings, showing some feel for adding to the fastball at will.”

Brandon Hall, Mid-Atlantic Supervisor

(3/23/26)

Oklahoma

+ William Grayson Jr., RHP/INF (Mount St. Mary HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“On the week, Grayson was a difference maker on both sides of the ball as part of a Rockets squad that had multiple players put up massive weeks. Grayson went 7-for-13 at the plate and added eight runs, seven RBIs, two doubles, and a home run. On the mound, the right-hander saved his best work with a complete game, seven-inning shutout performance, allowing just two hits, while striking out 15. The all-around performance from Grayson puts him over the top with his ability to impact games in a variety of ways.”

Bret Schwartz, Oklahoma Scouting Director

(6/3/25)

Oregon

+ Teagan Scott, C (South Salem HS, 2026) | Oregon State:
“As one of the premier talents in the PNW and the No. 2-ranked prospect in Oregon's senior class, Scott is off to a hot start in his final high school campaign. The catcher went 4-for-7, slugging two home runs with Prep Baseball staff in attendance last week. The senior also walked twice and added six RBIs and four runs scored in his massive week. Scott will have the eyes of pro scouts on him all spring and could be an early contributor at Oregon State this time next year.”

+ Jake Lewis, RHP (South Medford HS, 2026) | Warner Pacific:
“The senior right-hander takes home Oregon's POTW for the first week of the state's spring season after a dominant outing. Lewis racked up the strikeouts in a big way, tallying 16 over six innings of work. The righty allowed just two hits and two walks in a shutout performance for a South Medford side off to a nice start so far.”

Dylan Grenz, Pacific Northwest Asst. Scouting Director

South Carolina

+ Camden Finley, OF (Clinton HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“Finley had huge performances last week for Clinton. He was on fire at the plate, hitting .500 on the week, with three homers that helped him score six times with seven RBIs.”

Sammy Esposito, South Carolina Scouting Director

(2/11/26)

Tennessee

+ Canon Day, 3B/RHP (Houston HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“Day delivered a dominant outing on the mound, tossing six strong innings while allowing just one hit and one earned run. The right-hander was in complete control throughout, racking up 13 strikeouts and overwhelming hitters with his ability to miss bats and command the zone.”

(3/13/26)

+ Drew Hostetler, OF/RHP (Siegel HS, 2026) | Lincoln Memorial:
“Hostetler turned in a massive all-around performance, hitting an incredible .722 (13-for-18) with a 1.333 slugging percentage. The dynamic playmaker tallied five RBIs, 10 runs scored, and four stolen bases, while piling up extra-base hits with two doubles, three triples, and a home run, highlighted by hitting for the cycle on March 19. He also made an impact on the mound, tossing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts to earn a save, capping off a dominant week on both sides of the ball.”

Hunter Martin, Tennessee Scouting Director

(3/17/26)

Texas

+ Lincoln Lamm, INF (Monterey HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Lamm turned in a big week at the plate, going 6-for-8 with two home runs, a double, and three singles while driving in five and scoring six times. The uncommitted senior impacted the game in a big way for the Plainsmen. He's got a physical 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame with some defensive versatility.”

+ Wade Sebek, LHP (Cy Fair HS, 2026) | Panola JC:
“Sebek turned in a dominant outing on the mound last week, tossing a seven-inning no-hitter with 14 strikeouts and just one walk.

The left-hander controlled the game from start to finish, attacking the zone and missing bats, while limiting any traffic. A complete, overpowering performance from the southpaw from Cy Fair.”

Ben Green, Texas Scouting Director

Utah

+ Harmon Skeen, SS/RHP (Desert Hills HS, 2026) | Air Force:
“In four games last week, Skeen launched five home runs for Desert Hills, bringing his total up to nine already this spring. Actually, his five homers last week came during a three-game stretch, making it even more impressive, while slugging the home runs from foul pole to foul pole. Skeen was 6-for-12 on the week with eight RBIs and he scored 10 runs on top of that. He's the No. 2-ranked senior in Utah, committed to Air Force.”

Taylor Berg, Utah State Director

(7/14/25)

Virginia

+ Chase Blumberg, RHP (Atlee HS, 2026) | VMI:
“The Atlee right-hander threw a complete game shutout in his first outing of the year. In addition to the shutout, the VMI commit did it against the No. 15-ranked Glen Allen Jaguars. Blumberg threw 66 percent strikes during the outing, allowed only one hit, walked two, and struck out six. The senior made a big statement for the Raiders as they took their first step in the journey back to the state title game.”

Jason Burton, Virginia/DC Scouting Director

(3/19/26)

Washington

+ Gunnar Rindal, RHP (Mount Vernon HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“The tall right-hander was on top of his game across two outings last week, working a shorter relief stint before a dominant start at the Clark County HS Kickoff Tournament. Rindal tallied 7.2 innings total, striking out 12 while allowing just two hits and a run overall. The talented junior was most recently seen at PNW Preseason All-State this winter.”

“The Southridge product and Whitworth commit put together a dominant set of games last week, going 4-for-6 with two home runs. “The sophomore outfielder had a big first week of game play, finishing 4-for-9 over three games played. White slugged a home run and a triple, scoring four runs and driving five RBIs at the top of Seattle Prep's lineup. Angelo was last seen at West Coast Super Sophomore Games last fall, where he showed similar offensive skill, and will be a name to watch moving forward.”
