By: Illinois Staff

Each week, IHSA coaches around the state submit to us their nominations for the Prep Baseball Illinois Player of the Week and Prep Baseball Illinois Pitcher of the Week honors. Yesterday, we awarded the Week 1 Player of the Week honor to C Caleb Hornbrook (Normal U-High, 2026; Lake Land JC) and the Pitcher of the Week honor to RHP Nicholas Bailey (New Trier, 2026). Hornbrook went 9-for-10 on the week with a home run, triple, two doubles, 11 RBI, a run scored and two walks. In his first game of the year, he went 4-for-4 with a triple, double, and two RBI.
