The Starting 13 🏅
![]() |
Oliver Olson RHP / Pennridge HS, PA / 2029PITCHER From the PBT 15U National Championship: “The No. 1-ranked player in Pennsylvania's 2029 class walked into LakePoint to make a statement, and that’s exactly what the righty did with 10 strikeouts across 5.2 shutout innings. With a high waist and long levers at 6-foot-4, 195-pounds, Olson shows immense projection in the frame backed by present body control that really stood out in the outing. Olson attacked the zone with the fastball throughout, living 88-91 while touching 92.3 (tournament high) and showing the ability to mix shapes throughout from a deceptive higher three-quarters slot. The path to Olson becoming a 95-plus arm feels beyond likely. Tighter slider flashed at 74-76 with some feel to spin and ability to land in-zone. Late bite allows for the ability to miss barrels for both soft contact and whiffs. Changeup looks like a future weapon against left-handed hitters at 78-80 with some arm-side fade and depth. The feel to land for strikes is growing at a rapid rate. There’s already an advanced feel to sequence with more to come across the full mix. The profile for Olson can emerge to be one of the best right-hander in the 2029 class overall.” – Ian Smith, Georgia Asst. Director |
Beckett Johnson LHP / South Jones HS, MS / 2029PITCHER From the PBT 15U National Championship: “One of the top LHP in Mississippi’s 2029 class would make a statement early and often throughout the impressive week and showed this may be an immense two-way profile long-term. Johnson would make multiple appearances out of the bullpen throughout the championship run to the tune of a 1 H, 1 BB and 9 K across 7.1 innings. Methodical delivery that shows excellent repeatability with a higher leg kick and clean arm action that operates out of a three-quarters slot. Fastball gets on top of hitters quickly with cut/ride action at 86-89 and plus arm speed that only makes the effective velocity even greater. Shows present ability to generate swing-and-miss both in and out of the zone. Curveball works in the low-to-mid 70s with late, gradual break that can freeze both sides of the plate when landed in the lower half and will only take more strides as the feel grows. The changeup for Johnson could be the most advanced pitch in the mix, working at 72-75 with late arm-side fade that created whiffs to both sides of the plate whenever he needed while tunneling off the fastball extremely well.” – Ian Smith, Georgia Asst. Director |
Oliver Dugan RHP / Lake Highland Prep HS, FL / 2028PITCHER From the Midwest Premier Super 16: “In the Super 16 championship game, Dugan tossed a complete game and K'd eight batters in seven dominant innings, allowing just one earned with a one walk only. He was 84-87 mph in the outing with a mid-80s two-seamer, a curveball, and a stand-out changeup, 78-80.” – Ryan Malzahn, STL Tournaments Scouting Director |
![]() |
Blaise Bonnell RHP / Downington West HS, PA / 2028PITCHER From the Mid-Atlantic Program Invitational: “In one of the more impressive outings of the MAPI, Bonnell tossed a no-hitter with 12 Ks and just one walk, using mostly a fastball-curve combo to go the distance. He worked at 80-83 mph with the curve at 68-70. He's a 6-foot-3, 177-pound follow from Pennsylvania who bought some buzz for himself after the MAPI.” – Jake Tobin, Mid-Atlantic Tournament Director |
Ryan Chism SS/RHP / Friendswood HS, TX / 2028UTILITY / TWO-WAY From the Midwest Premier Super 16: “Chism finished his start in KC having allowed just two hits in five innings with one walk and six Ks, and he's also a very threatening two-way. He plays a solid shortstop and he hit .450 on the weekend with 10 RBIs. Back on the mound, he has a quality changeup with horizontal break that he threw to both sides of the plate. He sat in the mid-80s and topped out at 86, pounding the zone with a very mature sequencing. At the plate, he tallied four extra-base hits in the team's seven games, nine hits overall.” – Ryan Malzahn, STL Tournaments Scouting Director |
![]() |
James Mohler C/OF / Sandra Day O'Connor HS, AZ / 2028CATCHER From the PBT Arizona Summer Championships: “Mohler led Stinger Zona Boys to the Arizona Summer Championships title in the 16U division by going 10-for-16 at the tourney with five extra-base hits, six RBIs, and he scored 13 runs. He also walked five times and struck out just twice. Mohler will represent Arizona at the Prep Baseball Future Games at the end of July.” – PBT Scouting Staff |
![]() |
Teagan Leach 1B / Battlefield HS, VA / 2027INFIELD From the Mid-Atlantic Program Invitational: “Leach was the Mid-Atlantic Program Invite's MVP winner, boosted by four home runs total and a couple more extra-base hits. The top-ranked prospect in Virginia's incoming senior class is off to an explosive start this summer and he's garnering some early MLB Draft attention for himself headed into the final year of his prep career.” – Jake Tobin, Mid-Atlantic Tournament Director |
![]() |
Karson Wiskur 3B/RHP / Smith-Cotton HS, MO / 2028INFIELD From the Midwest Premier Super 16: “Wiskur hammered the ball this weekend, finishing 10-for-19 with four homers, two doubles, a triple, and 11 RBIs. One of those doubles left the barrel at 107 mph EV, too. He is a strong, physical kid with a very smooth swing. He is very short to the ball and has no wasted movement. Of his four homers, two were backside and two were pull-side. On top of his strong bat, Wiskur also has a plus arm. He ran the fastball up to 88 mph this weekend and threw 4.2 innings while striking out six and allowing just two earned. He has one of the best right handed swings I've seen from the '28 class so far.” – Ryan Malzahn, STL Tournaments Scouting Director |
![]() |
Land Sharpless SS/RHP / Trinity Presbyterian HS, AL / 2029INFIELD From the PBT 15U National Championship: “There might not have been a more impactful week at the plate than what Sharpless put together in the midst of winning the 15U National Championship. The outfielder would lead the event with an outlandish five home runs on the week with multiple coming in the biggest of moments and overall would hit .579 with nine XBHs and finish with a ridiculous seven RBIs in the championship game, leading his club team to the crown... There’s no denying that Sharpless was the catalyst this week and could be the breakout needed for a massive summer campaign.” – Ian Smith, Georgia Asst. Director |
![]() |
Brady Nelson C/1B / Staley HS, MO / 2028INFIELD From the Midwest Premier Super 16: “Has been one of the hottest hitting bats this summer in Kansas City across three PBT tournaments so far. Through three weekends, he has a 1.409 OPS with 13 extra-base hits (4 HR) and he led Royals Scout Team to a runner-up finish at the Super 16 last weekend homering in the championship game, too.” – Ryan Malzahn, STL Tournaments Scouting Director |
![]() |
Jadiel Baez OF / Metropolitan Soundview HS, NY / 2028OUTFIELD From the Northeast Summer Championships: “Jadiel Baez and his team put together a dominant weekend, scoring 68 runs across five games en route to the 16U Northeast Summer Championship title. Baez was the catalyst offensively, collecting four extra-base hits, including three home runs, and consistently driving the lineup's production. At the plate, Baez has a quiet operation in the box featuring a slightly wider-than-shoulder-width setup and his hands staying still ear high. He generates loud impact with an aggressive and compact slightly downhill swing with quick hands through the zone. His swing creates backspin on impact allowing him launch to the pull side with ease. Baez is a physical 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect who projects well in a corner outfield role. He pairs impressive gap-to-gap power with above-average arm strength, giving him the tools to impact the game on both sides of the ball.” – Matthew Laurentino, Northeast Regional Scout |
![]() |
Jayce Kent OF / Inola HS, OH / 2029OUTFIELD From the PBT 15U National Championship: “Kent led the entire 15U National Championship with 14 hits across the tourney, and he walked six times against just one punch-out. It's a simple left-handed swing that is fit to find the barrel and use the whole field.” – PBT Scouting Staff |
![]() |
Colton Pettinato OF/RHP / Metrolina Christian HS, NC / 2029OUTFIELD From the PBT 15U National Championship: “It was a stellar tourney for Pettinato, who finished tied for second in the event with six extra-base hits and he touched an 89 mph high on the mound too. Lean, athletic 5-foot-11,143-pounds with tools and strength to project. Well-connected RH cut and creates good separation with balance in a positive move forward. Shows an extremely compact stroke and keeps a flat path through the zone. Some present bat speed with great hands and ability to adjust in-zone. Zone awareness is evident with feel to match plane throughout multiple parts of the zone while working to all parts of the field. Positional flexibility across multiple spots and arm strength could be a carrying tool long-term. Pettinato should continue to rise in the ranks with shades of a potential high-level hitter down the line.” – Ian Smith, Georgia Asst. Director |
Honorable Mentions
The rest of this week’s nominees, recognized by our staff across the country for their performances (listed in alphabetical order, by last name):
+ Wesly Almonte
RHP · Goliath Academy, NJ · Class of 2027 · Uncommitted
From the Northeast Summer Championships: “Almonte rose to the moment, delivering a complete-game shutout in the 16U championship game. He showcased his ability to effectively mix all three pitches and keep hitters off balance throughout the contest. With the adrenaline pumping, he was able to reach back for more on the fastball, topping out at 85 mph.” – Matthew Laurentino, Northeast Regional Scout
+ Colin Ark
LHP · Rocky Point HS, NY · Class of 2027 · Uncommitted
From the Northeast Summer Championships: “Ark is a 6-foot-4, 195-pound prospect with a strong, physical frame and an intimidating presence on the mound. He attacked hitters with confidence across six shutout innings earning a win in the quarterfinals of the Northeast Summer Championships. His fastball sat 84-87 mph and was firm/heavy up in the zone. The sweeper, 73-76 mph, was the primary secondary pitch, making it an uncomfortable pitch for left-handed bats.” – Matthew Laurentino, Northeast Regional Scout
+ Jacob Babcock
3B/SS · Godwin HS, VA · Class of 2027 · James Madison
From the Mid-Atlantic Program Invitational: “Babcock tallied multiple XBHs and clutch at-bats throughout championship Sunday, including two homers over the batters eye in center field. He helped lift his club team to a runner-up finish in the 17U divsion and he can be considered the 'unofficial' runner-up to the MAPI MVP award as well. This hot start to the summer is on the heels of a strong junior spring at Godwin High, too.” – Jake Tobin, Mid-Atlantic Tournament Director
(Jacob Blalock; 6/8/26)
+ Tate Bearden
INF · Arllington HS, TN · Class of 2028 · Uncommitted
From the PBT Mid-South Classic: “The corner infielder helped lead Memphis Tigers Legacy to the Mid-South Classic 16U championship victory by going 6-for-12 on the week with four extra-base hits and he also K'd four batters in four shutout innings.” – PBT Scouting Staff
+ Justin Bischoff
RHP · Freeman HS, VA · Class of 2027 · Uncommitted
From the Mid-Atlantic Program Invitational: “Bischoff has been hard to hit this summer so far, including at the MAPI where he pitched a no-hitter in pool play for the squad that finished second overall in the event. He ran it up into the mid-80s with three pitches and a curveball that earned whiffs.” – Jake Tobin, Mid-Atlantic Tournament Director
+ Journey Boswell
LHP · Preston HS, OK · Class of 2028 · Uncommitted
From the Midwest Premier Super 16: “Strong effort in the Super 16 championship game facing one of the top lineups in the tournament. Boswell kept Wildcatters National off balance at the plate over 5.1 innings, allowing just three hits, sitting 80-83 mph on the fastball with an above-average spinning breaking ball, 72-74 (2,400 rpm).” – Ryan Malzahn, STL Tournaments Scouting Director
+ Andrew Brown
RHP · Gates County HS, NC · Class of 2029 · Uncommitted
From the Mid-Atlantic Program Invitational: “The top-ranked prospect in North Carolina's Class of 2029 authored a five-inning no-hitter at the MAPI, with just two walks and four Ks in a run-rule win for WT Rage. He sat 85-87 mph throughout the start and reached the 90 mark early on, and four secondaries helped him earn plenty of whiffs and weak contact.” – Jake Tobin, Mid-Atlantic Tournament Director
+ Maddox Bryant
SS · Kingwood HS, TX · Class of 2029 · Uncommitted
From the PBT 15U National Championship: “It’s been nothing short of a breakout start to the summer for Bryant who recently jumped into the top-10 overall in the National Class of 2029 Rankings as well as a stellar showing against elite competition at NPI a few weeks ago. The incoming sophomore shows one of the most advanced left-handed swings that I've seen this summer with ability to stay extremely compact while showing tremendous zone coverage and present above-average bat speed. Bryant keeps balance through the quick-twitch load and has shown consistent ability to do damage across full pitch mixes. The hit/power ceiling for the infielder has a chance to be significant and we're already seeing impressive shades of it. Defensively, Bryant has shown actions and range that can play across the dirt with flashes of plus hands that could keep him up the middle long-term. There’s already lofty comps floating around in my head for Bryant and with the way this summer has started, it's hard not to be bullish.” – Ian Smith, Georgia Asst. Director
(Maddox Bryant; 6/21/26)
+ Whitton Butler
1B · High Point Christian HS, NC · Class of 2029 · Uncommitted
From the PBT 15U National Championship: “In a week where the power was showing across the quads at a high-level, Butler put together one of the loudest weeks for Orioles Scout Team. Hulking, XL 6-foot-4, 205-pounds shows a tremendous blend of present strength backed by loads of projection and already showing strong body control of the long levers. The first baseman would hit .529 on the week with 14 RBIs including two moonshot homers to center field with the longest distance of the week with a 102 EV/402ft. shot that would clear the batter’s eye by a wide margin. Butler does an excellent job getting his hands extended in-zone where he let the barrel and natural strength thrive in the uphill path and pairs it with a strong feel for the barrel that can point to a substantial power profile in the class. There’s some sneaky athleticism in the frame that plays both on the base paths and at 1B where there’s a chance for a high-level glove long-term.” – Ian Smith, Georgia Asst. Director
+ Cade Cantrell
RHP · Knob Noster HS, MO · Class of 2028 · Uncommitted
From the Midwest Premier Super 16: “Cantrell showed this weekend why he is arguably the best right-hander in Missouri's '28 class. He threw five innings of one-run baseball, allowing three hits and striking out nine. He is one of my favorite arms in the state, working with a very deceptive motion and a near sidearm delivery – he's a tough at-bat for both-handed hitters. Cantrell also has a wipeout slurve and a change that he flashed to lefties. Consider him one of the most projectable arms in the country.” – Ryan Malzahn, STL Tournaments Scouting Director
(Cade Cantrell; 6/28/26)
+ Eli Cantrell
RHP · Madison County HS, AL · Class of 2027 · Uncommitted
From the PBT AL Open: “Cantrell pitched 8.2 innings total at the Alabama Open, including a seven-inning shutout in the event's championship game that helped earn his team the trophy in a 1-0 win, ultimately. In that game, he K'd four and allowed just four hits, one walk, and was up to 87 mph. He's an uncommitted senior to follow this summer.” – PBT Scouting Staff
+ Tyler DeHaan
RHP/INF · South Gibson HS, TN · Class of 2028 · Uncommitted
From the PBT Mid-South Classic: “DeHaan helped Beast National 16U make it all the way to the championship game at the Mid-South Classic. In that game, he K'd nine batters in four innings and allowed just two hits, one walk. He struck out over half of the batters he faced by the time all was said and done.” – PBT Scouting Staff
+ Brock Downing
OF · Emsley A. Laney HS, NC · Class of 2029 · Uncommitted
From the PBT 15U National Championship: “The athletic 5-foot-11, 175-pound outfielder that spark-plug that paced the Orioles lineup throughout the week, showing shades of legit hit tool in the future alongside some sneaky pull-side raw power. Downing shows an extremely compact RH cut with an optimized path that allows to find the barrel often without selling out. Came through with a pair of pull-side HR on the week as well as hitting .588 with 6 walks to 0 strikeouts. Present above-average runner who covers ground extremely well in the grass backed by great first-step and advanced routes that could allow Downing to have long-term value in center field. The overall 2029 class in North Carolina showed well throughout the week and could hold significant depth as continue to develop.” – Ian Smith, Georgia Asst. Director
+ Gavin Hamilton
OF · Hamilton HS, AZ · Class of 2027 · Uncommitted
From the PBT Arizona Summer Championships: “Hamilton was one of the top hitters at the Arizona Summer Champs., where he helped his club squad finish second. He finished the tourney 7-for-17 with a couple extra-base hits and his big game in the semis helped get Swarm Elite to the championship game.” – PBT Scouting Staff
+ Jagger Jackson
1B · Savannah HS, MO · Class of 2028 · Uncommitted
From the Midwest Premier Super 16: “Jackson went 11-for-18 on the weekend with two doubles and a homer for Building Champions. He's a high EV kid who doesn't get cheated in the box, however, he also possesses high bat-to-ball skills. He showed extreme maturity with two strikes and tallied plenty of his hits from down in the count. This allowed Jackson to have an elite weekend at one of our biggest 16U events of the year.” – Ryan Malzahn, STL Tournaments Scouting Director
(Jagger Jackson; 4/9/26)
+ Asher Krimmel
RHP · Lafayette HS, MO · Class of 2028 · Uncommitted
From the Midwest Premier Super 16: “Krimmel tossed a complete-game shutout, finishing with no runs allowed over seven innings, two hits, one walks, with seven Ks –53 of his 87 pitches were strikes. His fastball lived consistently at 87-89 mph with some sharp cut while the slider was a go-to secondary and he spun around 3,000 rpm. Krimmel generated plenty of soft contact and backed up the claim that he is one of the top arms in the state.” – Ryan Malzahn, STL Tournaments Scouting Director
(Asher Krimmel; 5/22/26)
+ Mason Leiterman
MIF · Bartlett HS, IL · Class of 2029 · Uncommitted
From the PBT 15U National Championship: “Leiterman set the tone for a stout Hit Dogs lineup out of the lead-off spot as he showed really well in my look. Athletic 5-foot-11,158-pounds with a well-rounded profile and present feel to hit. Added a pair of all-field knocks as he showed an aptitude to work line-to-line with ease. Advanced approach at the dish with quality pitch recognition and zone awareness alike while showing mature swing decisions, with zero chase and minimal swing-and-miss. Will continue to grow into the overall profile and chance to stick up the middle in the dirt long-term. It's the type of profile to buy stock in now with tools to project upon and can impact the game in a multitude of ways.” – PBT Scouting Staff
+ Nate Long
RHP · Second Baptist HS, TX · Class of 2029 · Uncommitted
From the PBT 15U National Championship: “Hard-throwing RHP from the Lone Star state essentially seem to grow on trees on a yearly basis, and Long looks to fit the mold with a loud performance this week. Stout frame at 6-foot, 200-pounds with a loose arm action that's backed by present above-average arm speed. Fastball comes out of the hand extremely well with consistent arm-side life at 85-89, running it up to 89 on multiple occasions and showing ability to create in-zone misses. There’s a chance for Long to be a 92+ arm much sooner than later as the strength is only going to continue to grow. Slider has the makings of a future above-average to plus offering at 75-78, showing teeth with late horizontal break and present feel to spin (Max RPM 2774). His 89 mph high on the heater was tied for the third highest fastball velo of the tournament.” – Ian Smith, Georgia Asst. Director
+ Eli McDaniels
C · Mooreville HS, MS · Class of 2029 · Uncommitted
From the PBT Mid-South Classic: “McDaniels led the team in hitting on its way to the 15U championship win at USA Stadium. He tallied seven hits (3 XBH) including a homer and five RBIs.” – PBT Scouting Staff
+ Griffey Moncada
OF · West Covina HS, CA · Class of 2028 · Uncommitted
From the Midwest Premier Super 16: “Moncada launched a few extra-base hits for the champions, Wildcatters, at Super 16, and that includes the biggest hit of the event: a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh of the championship game. A 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-handed hitter who also pitched well in a spotless start earlier in the torunament.” – PBT Scouting Staff

+ Landon Nickell
LHP · Lee's Summit North HS, MO · Class of 2029 · Uncommitted
From the Midwest Premier Super 16: “Tossed four shutout innings and pumped strikes, sitting 81-84 mph, earning six Ks along the way. Listed at an upside 5-foot-10, 140-pound build; ranked No. 20 in his state.” – Ryan Malzahn, STL Tournaments Scouting Director
+ Elian Nunez
OF · Blue Valley West HS, KS · Class of 2029 · Uncommitted
From the PBT 15U National Championship: “Easy to see a prototypical lead-off profile when watching Nunez take an at-bat with the ability to reach base at a high-clip. Spark-plug atop the Building Champions offense all week long with multiple knocks amongst different staff. Compact frame from the left-side and exudes twitchy actions in the box with advanced bat-to-ball skills. Slightly open-stance setup and creates quality separation in a small controlled leg lift with balance through impact. Direct stroke with loose hands and barrel stays on-plane forever for excellent coverage to all parts of the zone. Mature approach and takes stand out with tremendous pitch recognition, and ability to spoil often. Nunez holds the type of “gamer” profile with a chance to be a must know bat in the Sunflower State within the coming years.” – Ian Smith, Georgia Asst. Director
+ Mac Nunnally
OF/LHP · Pell City HS, AL · Class of 2028 · Uncommitted
From the PBT AL Open: “Nunnally showed a mid-80s fastball and a three-pitch mix in a dominant 10-K out on Sunday. Throughout the tourney, his left-handed bat found barrels, including several extra-base knocks as well as a home run.” – PBT Scouting Staff

+ Jace Scoggins
RHP · Tipton-Rosemark HS, TN · Class of 2029 · Uncommitted
From the PBT Mid-South Classic: “Scoggins earned whiffs and Ks in a four-inning start at USA Stadium in which he did not allow a run and punched out seven total, no walks. In the outing, he was up to 88 mph with the fastball and he demonstrated feel for a swing-and-miss slider, 73-74. He's ranked inside his home state's top-15 in the '29 class.” – PBT Scouting Staff
