The 2026 high school baseball season is underway and, as usual, excitement is present throughout Iowa. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across the Hawkeye State.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Cedar Rapids or Carroll at the IHSAA state tournaments, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to shine a spotlight on all teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Iowa.

Each week we will be releasing our Power Rankings, Scout Blog, Diamond Notes, and Player of The Week, covering all the bases across the state of Iowa.

+ Indianola’s Bryant Ritchie threw 7 innings, allowed 7 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and struck out 3.

+ Ballard’s Jake Clement was 2 for 4 with a single, double and 2 RBI’s.

+ Valley’s Alec McClinton went 3 for 4 with a single, 2 doubles, 2 RBI’s and scored 2 runs.

+ Sioux City East’s Cal Jepsen went 2 for 3 with a single, double, 3 runs, 2 stolen bases and a hit by pitch.

+ Dallas Center-Grimes Max Bejarno was 3 for 4 with 2 singles, double, 2 RBI’s and 1 run.

+ Bishop Heelan’s JJ Hope was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, 2 runs and a stolen base.

+ West Lyon’s Jerrence Knoblock was 2 for 5 with 2 singles, 2 RBI’s including the walk off single.

+ Knoxville’s Lincoln Norris was 5 for 6 with 3 singles, double, home run, 1 RBI, 4 runs, and 3 stolen bases. He also threw 7 innings, gave up 5 hits, 2 runs, and had 5 strikeouts. 

+ West Marshall’s Hunter Polley was 3 for 3 with 3 singles, 2 walks, 1 RBI, and 2 runs.

+ Roland-Story’s Braden Wallace was 1 for 1 with a double, 3 RBI’s, 1 run and 2 walks.

+ Coon Rapids-Bayard’s Ty Heydon threw 5 innings, allowed 4 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and struck out 9. He was also 2 for 6 with a single, double, 4 RBI’s and 2 walks.
