Today it is the fourth release of the Virginia/DC Small School Top 10. The Small School Top 10 is a team rankings set focused on VHSL Class 1 and Class 2 schools from around the state. The schools that make these rankings are public school only teams. While we do have a limited knowledge of roster makeup of some of these teams, quality wins are of the utmost importance and head to head records are weighted much more heavily. Take a look at some notes on a few teams from inside the rankings and a few on the outside.

• We have a new number one as the Patrick Henry Rebels continue to dominate competition as the playoffs have begun. The Rebels are on a fourteen game win streak and have done that in commanding fashion. It has been a combination of a high powered offense and consistent quality outings on the mound. They have a lot of momentum as the playoffs have begun, and look to be one of the favorites in Class 1.

• Strasburg cracks the top 3 as they have continued their win streak into the playoffs. The offense continues to be a strong point for this team as they scored 47 runs in the month of May. The pitching staff has also played their part in their success. The Rams are rolling as they get deeper into their playoff run. 

• King William enters the top 10 this week. They have put together a string of wins in April and May. The offense has put up double digit runs in nine games in those two months. They have a big matchup against Randolph-Henry in the region semifinals that can shake things up and give them a state tournament bid.
